I’m in my 50’s. I first saw this movie when i was about 10 years old. Shortly after i enrolled in martial arts school. My sole purpose was to be like Bruce. When i entered tournaments, i imitated the sounds he made. To say he was my hero is such an understatement. My eyes are totally blurred with tears as i type these words. I am a traditional man and tears don’t come easily for me… unless i’m watching Bruce Lee in action. RIP legend!
Same here. Started in the playground. The movie enjoyed re-release all through 1978 and still it was standing room only especially when double billed with "Five Fingers of Death". I had the fortune of a group of us being at my instructor's house one day in 1977 rehearsing a demo routine for a tournament when we got into discussing this scene. Did Lee really possess that speed in the opening technique and how in the heck did Bob Wall time it the way he did. It got loud. We finally asked sensei what he thought. He was on the phone. He waved us off. After a few minutes, he hung up and made another call saying, " Whats happening Bob?" He handed us the phone and said, " Ask him yourself."

This fight is a good example of how important it is to control your emotions during a fight. Lee is face to face with the man responsible for his sister's death but he remains disciplined enough to stay focused and in control. Meanwhile O'Hara gets too angry when being on the losing end and he fights more and more carelessly as Lee easily counters his attacks.

Back in those days people trained with great intention. Martial arts was a way of life for people like Bruce Lee. It wasn't about competition only or just for fighting. My dad always found himself in Bruce Lee, always showing me the likes of him and the other greats like a Norris, Van Damme, etc. but Lee just hits the top note.
Something I don't see discussed as often as everything else... but worth comment.... is Bruce's incredible footwork. Not just here but in all of his legacy... he literally floats like a butterfly. That Cha Cha champion status carried over into his martial art big time. Just watching him control the distance with such grace is awe inspiring
The beautiful thing about watching Bruce fight is that there’s no wasted motion, every little subtle thing he does is impactful, from his stance to his strikes to the way he moves around in relation to his opponent to the various techniques he employs. It’s absolutely beautiful, like watching a master artist create his magnum opus right before your very eyes. And even tho the fights, in his movies were choreographed, if you know about Bruce’s non conformist philosophy of being like water, it’s on full display in all his fights; flowing, being formless while still being able to adopt a form, the ability to be cool and serene, and also to be forceful and intense. The man was an absolute GENIUS. RIP Gung Fu Man! May your spirt endure forever! ❤
Bruce Lee had such intensity and raw emotion! They'll never be another like him. They way he jumped in the air and landed on that guy and then turns around to look at Han. He put everything he had in to that final blow, all the pain he felt u can see it in his face.
The actor Robert Wall who received that kick that sent him into the chairs, was an actual martial artist himself, trained by Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis and Gene LaBell. He said he told Bruce to make the kick real. Do not hold back. Robert suggested they do it that way to give it authenticity. Robert suffered two broken ribs. There was no wire to pull him back. That was the actual force of Bruce's kick. He was right, it did give the true feel.
That face of emotions after Bruce Lee jumped on his neck was priceless, Bruce had the complete package, thats what made him different...a true legend, unmatched
Imagine if Bruce had been at Sharon Tate's house the night Tex Watson and the girls came to kill them... I have a feeling Bruce would have killed Tex, I have little doubt... Bruce might have died that day but not before trying to kill Tex and maybe the girls also.
The true legend. None of actual martial artists has reached his level. Maybe actual martial artists like Jet Li or Donnie Yen are highly skilled, but they are not at Bruce's level.
No matter how many times you watch Bruce Lee, he never fails to blow you away with his unbelievable speed and off the scale skill. *WHAT AN AWESOME ATHLETE.*
In the movie Bloodsport Bolo's character made the same comment about Van Damme breaking the brick (the Dim Mak technique demonstration). I like to think it was a call out to honor this scene
This is the film that changed the entire direction of my formerly bullied life! This guy was my God, back when I was 17. When somebody told me that he had died a year before I left school, I was inconsolable!
O'hara is alive today also at 81 years old. Bruce lee would be 80 if alive today. Both of them were very friendly to each other in real life even though this scene shows them as enemy.
Honestly, Bruce was a very underrated actor. You can really feel the emotions in Lee as he deals the BRUTAL killing blow to O'hara. A mix of pleasure and horror.
Thats why I loved Bruce Lee. He dealt well with emotional content. His fighting scenes themselves were like conversations whereas Lee would offer his contrarical objection would then turn out to be respected. Very powerful. You can see he threw all of his Chi into that death blow, crushing Oharas chest cavity.
Bruce Lee started the revolution. He pave the way that nobody thought about it he unified the martial arts in a modern way. He started something 45 to 50 years ago. He was not bias nor Prejudice and he saw what needed to be done in the world way before somebody else did. He will always go down as a greatest martial artist forever. love you Bruce Lee may your soul continue to rest in peace
He was right all along - the best fighter is not the master of any one style; the best fighter is the fighter who can adapt to the styles of all the other fighters.
In addition to his unique mastery in martial arts, his screen presence is spellbinding! Brilliance goes with an inherent style, making his personality a class apart. Great man!
Best scene ever. Gotta give credit to Bob Wall also because his timing was so good that it looked like he was actually being hit (and kicked). The last flying kick to the chest (that sent him flying into the spotters) actually resulted in an injury to one of the spotters. Looking at it closely, Bruce really does connect but it's more of a push (with his foot) expertly disguised as a kick. That's shows immense technique as well as power.
I read somewhere that Bruce’s kick that sent Bob Wall flying backwards also fractured a couple of his ribs and broke one of the arms of the stuntman Wall fell on..... 😂 Classic Master Lee
@@vincentamadio9350 True - As most now know, Bob Wall passed at age 82. Sources , (e.g. TMZ) are quoting him about this fight sequence wherein he confirms that his ribs were broken. The quote given had Bruce saying, ""Bob, I wanna hit you, and I wanna hit you hard".
It took me 15 years to find out Bruce Lee was dead. You can watch this scene one, twice, or a thousand times. It's pretty much the epitome of 'badass' in a fight sequence. This 2:15 sequence alone lives in history.
Muhammad Ali never said anything about Bruce Lee. Muhammad Ali is a professional boxer and Bruce Lee is an actor. Ali is an idol of Bruce Lee while Ali knows nothing about Bruce Lee.
Asian women want to marry white women Ali definitely knew who Bruce Lee was, he was an extremely well known martial artist and actor. Bruce Lee doesn’t get enough credit for the contributions he lended to MMA and other mixed martial arts sports, He’s and icon and a very interesting man. When asked who would win, Bruce humbly said Ali, however when Ali fought inoki, his kicks were devastating. The true catch if the two were to fight is that Ali would punch harder, but Bruce knows way more diverse and unique fighting styles. A grapple would have crippled Ali!
@@ilovesleepingwithotherpeop9945 "Bruce Lee is an actor." That's a good joke. Bruce Lee was a martial artist first, the best even. Get your facts straight.
@@TinkleShylo He easily beat him in the fight and let him live. O'Hara didn't want to accept he was beaten and tried fighting dirty with broken bottles. He therefore showed he had no decency to accept defeat and live, or to follow the code of martial arts which is why Lee killed him - albeit reluctantly. Even Han gets upset by O'Haras actions and later states:"O'Hara's treachery has disgraced us." Lee is bound by a code of honor and respect. Earlier in the film he visits his mother's grave before departing for Hong Kong: "You will not agree with what I'm going to do. It is contrary to all that you have taught me, and all that Su Lin believed. I must leave. Please try to find a way to forgive me." Lee is a self-reflecting man and knows what he is about to do would make his own mother very disappointed and he therefore hopes she can forgive him. I don’t think they could have gotten more brilliance and perfection from this scene: the music, choreography, suspense, intrigue, hostility, anger, relief and pure dynamism
Slow down the playback speed at 1:24- It appears as though it's an elbow punch, but he actually does a block remover, an elbow feint and then a back fist to actually knock him down. No wonder he was so fast. What a genius!
You're right. He back fists O'Hara and returns his fist back to its starting position instantly right after the strike. So it appears his elbow did the strike. Even in slo-mo, it's tough to see because he was so fast.

Good eye.
This and he was a huge Muhammad Ali fan
He was a huge Muhammad Ali fan. It's likely studied Ali's footwork and adopted a personalized version of it for his Jeet Kun Do.
What makes this fight so great is the realism. No wires or histrionics, just real athleticism and speed. That flip kick looked effortless.
Dat last look@Han was like ,,you are next

He will always go down as a greatest martial artist forever. love you Bruce Lee may your soul continue to rest in peace

this movie has to ve the inspiration to mortal kombat fr

Bruce mastered the inch punch. Legendary! R.I.P. Mr. Lee.
You can watch this scene one, twice, or a thousand times. It's pretty much the epitome of 'badass' in a fight sequence. This 2:15 sequence alone lives in history.
When Muhammad Ali was told how much Bruce Lee respected him as a fighter Ali said he couldn’t think of a greater compliment in his life time .....
Gulat wanita gemuk
@@ilovesleepingwithotherpeop9945 ...thats not entirely accurate.

@@Badass504Yeah, but he still has empathy.
He looks like he's taking a shit for the first time.
Even Han gets upset by O'Haras actions and later states:"O'Hara's treachery has disgraced us."
Lee is bound by a code of honor and respect. Earlier in the film he visits his mother's grave before departing for Hong Kong: "You will not agree with what I'm going to do. It is contrary to all that you have taught me, and all that Su Lin believed. I must leave. Please try to find a way to forgive me."
Lee is a self-reflecting man and knows what he is about to do would make his own mother very disappointed and he therefore hopes she can forgive him. (To the Chinese the spirits of our dead ancestors or with us and dishonoring them is a great sin)
@@McLarenMercedes Then if he died during the film set, then how did the movie finished, while the production of the film in game of death wasn't even half done, and honoring bruce lee in the film does not mean he died during the production of the flm, the film of game of death had alot more plans, while enter the dragon was already done.
