How to remove Range Rover Sport L494 HeadLamp / Headlight Change Bulb etc

- In this video we show you how to remove the headlights on a Range Rover Sport L494 SVR etc. You may need to do this if your Range Rover Sport headlamps are damaged or broken or to change a bulb

I managed to remove my headlight just by undocking the bumper from the side where it connects to the wing and pulling it forward just enough to clear the bottom bit of the headlight. So removing front bumper is not neccessary.

I also removed it with out taking the bumper, or tire off. Also removing the 2nd 10mm screw is unnecessary to unlock the bumper. Thanks for the video though. It did help tremendously.
was there no need to remover fender liner either?
You can get the headlamp out without taking the bumper off, here’s a short guide it should take about 30 mins.
You will need to watch their video for taking the bumper off, then follow these steps.
1) Remove the grill
2) Remove the wheel arch liner there is no need to take the wheel off, just raise the car, turn the wheel. There is plenty of room.
3) Take the lower of the two bolts out that joins the two body part panels (shown at 12:25 in the bumper video.)
4) Loosen the higher of the two bolts just enough to slide the panels apart). It’s quite awkward to get to the higher bolt so don’t take it out. I used a small ratchet to loosen it, then unscrewed it a little bit by hand, just enough to separate the panels. They will now have enough ‘give’ to get the lamp out in ‘step 8’.
Now you can use this video to do the following steps.
5) You only need to remove the three bolts on top of the headlamp holding the lamp in place, you’ll need to remove the little cover liner as shown to get to the lower bolt.
6) The tab you need to press down (2:38 in the video) can be reached from above with a long screwdriver.
7) Remove the electrical cable.
The headlamp should now be ‘free’ from the car.
8) Having already separated the two panels in ‘step 4’ the headlamp will now come out quite easily, you just need to carefully remove it and use the ‘give’ you now have in the panels to open the gap the extra 10mm- 20mm that was needed to get it out.
Reverse the process to put it all back.
Simple job, doesn’t take more than about 30mins. I did mine to replace a faulty/ageing ballast.

There is actually a description with a detailed drawing of the procedure (without removing the bumper or sides) similar to what Ming wrote on how he removed his lights. It’s in the electronic manual of the L494

Watched your video and decided to try to not remove bumper or grill. Was successfully able to change xenon bulb without taking anything off. Just took patience and completed the job in under 30 minutes!
And this was the 2015 sport!

When you take off the three screws, with a long screwdriver you can push that tab without taking off the bumper. use light to see exactly where it is. you know from your video where to look! thank you for the video!

After I upgraded the front lights LED to the 2020 model so for me to report that "engine circulation error" do you have any tips or anything to fix it?
Is it possible to upgrade from xenon to LED?
Non bumper off way to get the lights out, remove the to screws inside the outer section of the wheel arch liner, this then allows the outer skin of the bumper to be popped undone, which allows access to the bolt that is on the outer edge of the light, so you can pull the bumper out just enough, the other bolts on the inner grille side are all the same as this.

Any plans on doing the 2017>2018 front conversion? Seems like the loom adaptor is one of the hardest/expensive parts to get hold of
Yes we will get to this.... big change... headlights / wings / grille / bumper / bumper support / air ducts....
