    Have a 2015 SDV6 HSE from new with 150,000ks on the clock. No problems so far, just the usual tyres and brakes and the odd warning light (passenger airbag is a common one but goes off eventually)

      We've been towing a 3T van around Australia for two years now with the SDV8, without question it is the best tow combo ( engine gearbox) in Australia. This thing laughs at hills at over 6T train weight,, all while sitting in a RR!

    Here in Australia there are a few common SDV8 faults, oil coolers, O rings and a bit rarer but a showstopper is the gearshift button actuator. such a poorly designed part, cost of manufacture would be ten cents, but it stops you dead.

    • @themilesdriven
      @themilesdriven  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for adding the note on the gearshift actuator. Hopefully in time a third party solution will bring the cost of replacement down, but nonetheless a great point made and 100% worth checking the shifter functions in all modes before purchase 👍

    Bought a 2020 P525 HSE Dynamic with a about 27k miles last Thur, Fri morning the sunroof closed on the driver side and the passenger side stayed up. Been at the dealer since waiting for a new rail tract to install, not off toa good start. Warranty is fixing it and I have a loaner, hopefully it's not a recurring issue.

    Is the crank à very common problem to brake

    • @themilesdriven
      @themilesdriven  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It really depends who you ask, but as I covered in the guide the failure rate is talked about loudly by those that suffer it as it will take the engine with it making it a very costly repair, but if it happened to every single one then the car would be almost worthless. A bit like the fate the RX-8 suffered 5 years ago, failure rate was high as vehicles age and didn’t get the high maintenance they needed, costs to run and repair were very high and the chances of it happening to engines that hadn’t already been rebuilt was becoming common so the cars value dropped dramatically, in fact it was so bad prices have started to go back up for the Mazda RX-8 because so few good ones are left. This isn’t the fate of this generation Range Rover, but unfortunately no one but a warranty company can give you the peace of mind that you won’t be in for a big bill if it does go wrong 👍

    Definitely helped give me confidence in going for my first RR. Finally decided to start looking for a RRS SDV8. I have found two that take my fancy, so hopefully do a deal on one in the next week or so.
    Maybe crazy to buy one during all this insurance debacle but time will tell. I’m sure Land Rover will have to step up and do something or the brand will die a painful death here in the UK.

      @@dbasix-ocho-zero-cinco the V8 engine has less weak points than the V6. I bought one just before Christmas and I am really enjoying it. Also the SDV8 all come pretty well spec’d from factory. So you get a lot of car for the money.

    Thinking on buying a 2020 td6 hse, 65k miles, 1 owner it was a rental vehicle. No problems on carfax. Any advice? Visually the car looks great

    • @themilesdriven
      @themilesdriven  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Was it a rental with a major brand? I worked in rental cars (Sixt) for a while and we kept our cars in top condition as it was cheaper to do preventative maintenance and have happy customers, especially on high end cars as it attracted corporate customers, but our vehicles were a bit more expensive to rent. Unfortunately I have also sold ex-rental cars from brands that cared very little and worked their profit on exhausting a vehicle and then getting rid of it before it needed repairs or major maintenance. The service record is key, ex-rental with no history because it was done ‘in-house’ are a bigger concern than the ones that come with a record of maintenance with the rental company logo on it as they are putting their name against the work.
      I hope this info helps 👍

    Great video. Currently weighing up getting a 2021 sport HSE with around 30k on the clock for around 35 grand. I’d get an additional warranty from LR - still not sure whether I should take the gamble. As I still find them stunning cars. Anything equivalent is probably a 15-20k price jump SUV wise.
