Fun fact: the foil-etched Astarion card is currently fetching about $25 in Asia. People love the character from the video game and want to collect anything related to him. With limited supply, the demand is pushing the price up.

Just a heads up, first box averaged EV is less than $120, these boxes still don't hold the value worth the $150 price mark. Most of those cards in the first box are averaged $8-10 (average), with the dragon being the highest at like $21, Karlach is about $8.
All booster box prices settle above their EV. When the price dips below EV, people can basically arbitrage by ripping them
@@tartuffethespry I know all that, my point was the overhype in single prices rudy mentions. Im still a rudy fan, since the beg but some vids his single prices are off quite a bit. Sealed the man knows his stuff, but singles not so much lol.
@@flurambaimo he’s more trying to drive the point of recovery home. Opening this product and getting close to the all your money back is leagues ahead of where it was pre-BG3 release. I do think this set recovered due to a video game and nothing else. Based Larian is out here saving all of Hasbros IPs.
@@hahahafunniness I completely understand where he's coming from. But! Listen to what you said, "almost getting your money back" why are people buying product just to "almost break even"? That's the problem, too many people buying sealed product for no reason. If you buy sealed product, sit on it, otherwise stick to singles. Buying every single product they produce is driving the game in a terrible direction, because they see those numbers as a "success" and will keep doing it. "Commander" players need to slow down, they are the driving force behind the game right now and we need to take the wheel back.
Bro in the world just USA and Canada use TCG prices the rest of the world we mostly use serious and real market price like cardkingdom.

This product would have been so much better received if they had just waited for Baldur's Gate 3 to release. Imagine having a ready to go product to coincide with the much-heralded PC Game of the Year. There's a good 15+ rares/mythics which would have gone from forgettable legendary dreck to resonant fan favorites overnight.
I like the ancient dragons from this set. I even bought an ancient silver dragon!!!

Minsc & Boo borderless foil is 20-30 EU. Karlach is easly 15 EU even more in edge foil. Borderless dragons - Brass 20 EU, Silver 30 EU, Bronze 10 EU - double all that for foil. Copper borderless foil is selling for 115-130 EU while nonfoil 60-70 EU. White Plume Adventurer dropped the price. It was recently banned in legacy. This set has some commons and uncommons worth 1-4 EU like Nature's Lore, Decanter of Endless Water, Avenging Hunter, Deadly Dispute, Wild Magic Surge, Irenicus Vile Duplication. Few commons and uncommons have triple the price in foil (Goliath Paladin). There are 3-5 EU rares. I guess prices in USA can be different. For example Seasoned Dungeoneer is like 6 EU in Europe while only 2$ in USA.
As fan of D&D and Baldur's Gate games I'm collecting this set so I'm tracking the prices. I'm completing the binders with every card in every variant - regular, borderless, extended art, showcase. All foil and nonfoil versions.
The rarest pulls are 12 mythics from precon decks in extended art foil versions (Faldorn, Firkraag, Baeloth, Nalia, Burakos, Durnan, Folk Hero, Haunted One, Passionate Archaeologist, Clan Crafter, Zelix, Captain N.). They come only from collector sample packs (these 2 cards sample packs from precon deck boxes) and supposedly can be found in the last slot in collector booster pack, but I watched every opening on youtube and noone ever pulled them from collector boxes.
I wanted you to know TH-cam has not promoted one of your videos to me in over 4 months! Its insane! I just saw a video of yours and went wowowowowo why have i not seen him in a long time and I checked and the last video "I had watched" was 4 months ago. I don't know how I didn't realize this sooner but definitely hit the bell since TH-cam doesn't tell me about you.
I will admit as a brewer of commander decks, hitting this many lands that are good and that you will actually use feels really good.
Artwork is beautiful in my opinion fun to open based on art alone for me, I loved opening those packs

It's just that if you opened a bunch of a set booster boxes like a year ago, you still didn't get much of any lands. And Set-Booster displays still don't make any sense. Even if you pull an ancient copperdragon you're still far from breaking even in your 18 booster box. The set boosters are SO bad, like there is exactly ONE spot per booster that is a guaranteed rare/mythic with a chance to pull anything non-legendary. The other rare/mythic slot is a guaranteed legendary card, so mostly trash, unless you hit a Minsk or Karlach which are the ONLY legendary cards in this set, that are worth more than a couple bucks.
Again: ANYTHING that is worth anything in this set is a non-legendary card with ONLY two exceptions being Karlach and Minsk.
So a Set-Booster-Display with 18 boosters seriously does not have much of any chance of pulling anything because you get 1 actual rare/mythic per pack + some tiny chances on list and foil pulls.
For that reason, Draft Booster Boxers and Collector Booster Boxes are so much better.
A collector booster has 4 rare slots with a chance to pull something relevant (plus that one useless legendary slot). If a set boster display costs 100 bucks and a collectors display 170 bucks, you go collectors every time because 12 collectors boosters with 4 rares/mythics = 48 r/m pulls vs 18 r/m pulls in set-booster displays. For collectors to be worse value, they'd need to cost about tripple as much as a set booster display.
Meanwhile a draft booster display has 24 boosters, which is immediately more chances at pulling a relevant rare simply because it has more boosters, but ALSO it doesn't have this weird "theming" in the commons/uncommons that the set-boosters have. So you get 24x3 uncommons and 24x13 commons (way more than in the 18 set boosters) and much higher chances of pulling dollar commons/uncommons. The commons in this set have seriously creeped up. For whatever reason the commo gates are half a buck each but more importantly, Lightning Bolt, Nature's Lore and especially Deadly Dispute (3 bucks!) are just really decent commons. Uncommons aren't quite as insane, but Irenius's vile duplication is about 2 bucks and people still want swiftfoot boots and arcane signets. So any draft booster display sneakily has around 20 bucks build in value just from the commons/uncommons and then you can try and get lucky with your rares (or actually play draft).

I got 3 of these collector boosters in a random commander themed clearance box together with some pre-con decks and some draft boosters from baldurs gate. I got 2 Legion loyalties and one of the lands, that is about it...
Still a great set,i need to buy some more

The only mistake this set made was being released before Baldur's Gate 3. If it came out September this year instead of CMM, it would be a BANGER of an LotR followup. BG3 was that huge a hit.

Remember you only get the value of the card if you sell it at said value. Most will just trade in for 50% or less store credit. Take every single card value and chop it in half, that is the base of what you got. People still thinking they are pulling straight cash out of packs are delusional. Rudy knows this and doesn't believe most of what he tells us on his videos. When it comes to MTG he is the living meme of a dog sitting at the table drinking coffee while everything is on fire saying, "It's fine."
I'm not your biggest fan all the time Rudy but i enjoyed this video. I missed this set and have been thinking about it. I'm a fan of the series so I want the cards even if they're trash for that emotional attachment lol. I was excited to see the price so cheap and booom you release this video. My only complaint is that now the price will go up before payday haha.

Opened 1 draft box at 90 cad and got copper silver kitty and bssicly every single good rare , baldurs gate peaked for me its an amazing set they priced 2x time what it should of been

@jk47Ssb that is purely by design to push more product out at the distribution level and not at the retail level. Standard is what keeps LGS open. Commander is not friendly to a retail environment which shuts down LGS which kills the game.

Why it's not normal? You usually open two boxes. The price for these were over 300 a box for a reason. Everything going to be a hit over time. Even the commons are strong.

Because they have a unique frame and style thats very D&D feeling to it and they are extremely rare so yes definetely undervalued. These will go long longterm for sure.

why do people open the wrong commander legends box? People still sleep on commander legends draft box, so many value cards (jeweled lotus, Mana drain, Vampiric Tutor, Agent etc..) for the same price like this or the other trash sets like new capanna or strixhaven or forgotten realms

The reason why Baldursgate performed so bad wasnt the price increases in the first place but the weak sauce cards INSIDE those boxes. Measured by the power other sets provide in play this was a dice roll RNG trollfest.
It didn't actually fail it made over a 100 million dollars.

People really just decided to hate this product i think and prob why it tanked so hard, because this set has some serious broken cards in it. Like for example I still don't understand why people don't use monster manual in every green or artifact deck, the card is literally a 2 mana creature a turn forever lol.
