    Moving the ball back to just a hair infront of where I do with my 7-iron helped tremendously. I used to position it 1-clubhead behind lead foot because thats what all the other YT golf coaches say to do. I'd top it, hit it thin, or hit pull hooks when I caught it solid.

    This is great! 👍🏻
    Easy to understand, and more importantly, easy to put into my swing.
    I have shared this with a playing partner of mine who STRUGGLES hitting 3-wood, and is in awe of how well I hit mine. He has quite a strong grip (hits low draws with his driver) and really struggles to get his 3-wood airborne. Would be great if you could do a follow up to this video, maybe more advanced advice on hitting 3-wood. 👆🏻

    I am struggling to get the ball up in the air with a launch angle at 5-6 with woods and lower loftet hybrids.
    What can I do to change this? Too much shaft leen?
    Swing speed around 105 so the speed should not be a problem.
    Can you post a picture or video about Impact position and realese for woods and lower lofted hybrids?
    Thanks!

    When practising hitting balls with a fairway wood off a driving range mat, I find that placing a broken tee a couple of inches left of the ball and trying to hit both ball and tee, ensures ball first contact. While hitting fairway shots on the course it's a simple matter to visualise an imaginary tee, laying on the ground, a little left of the ball. It seems more natural to have the ball slightly back in the stance when setting up.

    Jonathan .... great video. I was topping my 3 wood. I do have a question for you. If you are teeing up your 3 wood, should u have a little less body tilt forward at address as compared to it being on the ground? I know I don’t tee it up as much as the driver. Thank you!

  • @felawes
    @felawes 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very useful. It's so easy to let the three wood position become a pale imitation of the driver. I like your working off the front heel with three balls rather than a midline.

  • @joeidaho5938
    @joeidaho5938 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Interesting to hear that you're still trying to hit down. Should the ball be moved slightly forward with woods? The thought I always have to have....is to make sure I am bringing my back shoulder down and through to impact....and that results in solid hits on the ball. I find I don't really want compression impact, on the whole, to get real long distance with my 7 wood. I want to hit on a sweep. I generally don't hit a 3 wood. I'll hit a 3 bybrid...or 4 hybrid.

    Can wait 2 try this tip on the range….. LOL! I’ve been so afraid 2 pullout either my woods or hybrids in the middle of the fairway! LOL! So….. I’ve just been trying 2 make my 6 iron work and then some kinda wedge… LOL!

  • @carlor.s.4742
    @carlor.s.4742 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My journey with the fairway 3 wood has been all over the place. Initially I could hit it well. Then I started topping it all the time & I put it back in the bag & switched to a 3 iron which I hit really well. Went back to the 3 wood at the end of last year & started to make good contact on the ball. I think I did have the golf ball to far forward & some instructors talk about sweeping the ball. You say hit down like the iron & this makes more sense to me. Trying to sweep the ball makes you hit up on it. Is that right Jon? I also shortened my swing which seemed to help.

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are correct in thinking that "sweeping" will cause a golfer to hit up on the ball too much. The length and design of the club head will help reduce how much the club digs so there is no need to intentionally reduce the amount you hit down on the ball.

  • @perezwenceslao62
    @perezwenceslao62 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you for the tip, very clear: will try it at my next practice.
    One question about 3-Wood: would you tee it up when using it instead of the driver, and if so how high would you tee it up?

    • @JKMGolf
      @JKMGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yes you would definitely tee it up. With a 3-wood you dont need to tee it up very high but I would say as long as you dont get more than half of the ball above the face you are ok. This would also depend on your swing.

    Hi Jonathan, When you use you 3Wood to tee off, do you setup the same as the Driver.? (with the exception of teeing it lower)
