Finally someone who actually put some effort into listing all good and bad things of both games and doesn't right out say one game bad another game great (or Marvelous good, Natsume bad, that's really horrible mentality fanbase have). Thank you for that.
I got both games when they released, ended up playing a LOT more of SoS:PoOT at first (partly because I wanted to stay ahead of a lets play I was following). Now that I'm in a bit of a gaming lull, I've picked up HM:OW again...loving all of the crop variety and the way we have to get the seeds! Really wish more folks gave OW a try...but I know that a lot of people refuse to play any of the new HM games because of the split. I really enjoy both games and I'm looking forward to the next installments in both series!
I was the exact same way, but I haven’t went back to either game since “beating” the storyline, which is why I personally hate games having storylines. It makes the regular gameplay so boring afterwards because whatever you had to work towards is done now, I prefer the free play of Friends of Mineral Town. Honestly, what one game does well the other lacks in and they would just make the best game ever if they would get back together. I wish more people gave OW a shot too. I watched a few reviews and I find that most didn’t play for more than a few hours before getting an opinion and definitely didn’t see what the world became once you finished the game. They always had stuff to say like its so empty, but it gets some decoration after you beat the game you just need to give it a chance. Hence the reason why I had to take back what I said initially because I gave it a chance and it wasn’t bad.
a Vita Luka 2023 return/rundown of Harvestella would be epic. but I think it would be more than likely the entire world will end before that point. just here to leave some flowers on her social media grave of remembrance. whenever something HM related comes out - I think of her and all of the heart, soul and passion she put into her extraordinary reviews. 🌷🌷🌷🌼🌼🌼🌼🌻🌻🌻🌻💐💐
I am coming back in 2023. I’ve got so much going on, but y’all will hear about it when I can actually discuss it. But I’ll look into doing that Harvestella Review. I will also be having a ranking of all Rune Factory games since I’ve finally beat all of them.
I know this is an old video but I just wanted you to know I appreciate this one and the other OW video you made. I just got Playstation Plus Premium and a lot of the HM games are free on there. I played BTN which was meh, LOH which I liked, and OW which I absolutely love. I haven't played an SOS games but it's nice to see your rundown on both games.
Thank you!!! I wanted to give that in-depth review because I felt like a lot of creators just weren’t and I am not typically a video game content creator, but I felt like my very first OW video just didn’t do justice. Where is the PlayStation Plus Premium? That sounds really interesting if you can get a lot of the HM games. If you have played Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life in the past, you should play the new Story of Seasons version that comes out at the end of June. I haven’t played it yet as it is still on pre-order but it looks like a fairly accurate remake and I am very excited even though I still have the original and spin-off games for GC, PS2 and DS.
Personally, from playing several hours of each, I think Olive Town is way more polished but really lacks the charm of One World. The heart events and dialogue just feel so much more mechanical and less interesting in PoOT. I hope 1.05 fixes that problem because between that and the Maker issue (my farm has to be LOADED with Makers to be profitable, ugh) the game just isn't as fun right now. I do think that One World is a step in the right direction for Natsume, it seems they have been taking criticism to heart and put in a solid effort this time. Hopefully the next game will fix a lot of the problems in OW. The only things keeping it from being a good game and not just an enjoyable one are the graphics, empty worlds, stamina system, bugs/performance issues and customization. Really, there are few (but important) things that are innately wrong with the game's design, most of the problems come from a lack of polish; whereas PoOT's issues lie within the design itself even though it's very polished.
I think there is a reason as to why they used to be a team and it clearly shows. Where one lacks the other is better. They really should get back together to provide great games, or just learn from the other.
Harvest Moon One World will pick up the pieces where SOS lacks, but it will lack in graphic design and have issues with Stamina until you beat the game. They both have their flaws but it depends on what you find to be more valuable, graphics and game mechanics, or marriage and the other stuff that goes on with personalities and such of the characters.
for me, SOS kinda win for me bcs theres no glitch so far in game, it felt like OG harvest moon more bcs of certain characters models plus farm development reminds me of animals crossings, and finally have much simple menu that i liked. But HM had bigger world, no loadings even its short in SOS, dialogue and characters development seems more relevant than SOS, Pets also vary than just cats dogs and wolves?? we can have bird here lol. Breeding in HM also easier, why in SOS we need to be certain level and those tools we need to kept buying over and over lol. But both joined, it will be the perfect game of farming simulator just how i always put HM BTN in ps1 at the highest pedestal and stardew valley comes in no 2. For now i put SOS:POT in no 3 and HM:OW in 4. Bcs i think this is the closest one from SOS and HM series to reach the level of HM BTN.
I completely understand as to why. I find it all depends on what you like more and is a personal choice. Honestly I haven't picked up either since making this video. My standards are Rune Factory games because I think that they are ultimately better made than the HM and SOS games now. Though my OG HM is Harvest Moon 64 but I find that it's more relaxed than what comes out now. Though I wish they would make an SOS or HM like Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life with the story and age progression.
No because I don't have a PlayStation. Though I did the review like this so viewers could see which game they would prefer since they both did certain aspects better than the other and then you could make the decision yourself. If you really want my opinion about which farming game you should play, it's Rune Factory 5.
Huh crops are why I like Natsume games as much as I do. Marvelous really dropped the ball having hybrids in basically one game. (Because the fact it's multiple is only because girl and SE.) Mutations are way more fun imo. I don't remember the shipment box working like that in OW so I feel like I'm losing my mind now. I've shipped a lot in that game. Someone in the universe forbid if you enjoy fishing in PoOT though. ETA: Also I'm here end of 2022 still playing OW and over RF5 because the post game is so boring lol The farming mechanics are way more boring imo in PoOT, the seed maker is awful and for what? No crop festival. A handful of cooking things and more money. At least growing crops in OW has mutations.
I think you may end up really liking Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life then. As long as Marvelous doesn’t drop the ball with the seed maker and Tartan. I don’t know if you ever played the OG game, but that is one of my favourite Harvest Moon games and I think you would absolutely enjoy based on your comment about hybrids. Personally I found the mutations a little annoying at times, because when trying to grow one crop, it would turn into another because I was learning through trial and error, but it definitely does make the game more interesting and better than PoOT. I remember that there were days that I couldn’t ship as much as I wanted to, I don’t know if they have fixed that now. I still haven’t picked up OW or PoOT since my review. I also can’t remember fishing in PoOT so it probably was trash. I know I didn’t mind fishing in OW though. By the end of 2021 I stopped playing PoOT and OW and was playing RF4, and then switched to playing Rune Factory 1 and beat the game. Then I played Rune Factory 2. Then I had surgery and Rune Factory 5 came out shortly after and I was playing that for majority of 2022. Now I brought my Wii to the Czech Republic and I just beat Rune Factory Frontier, and will be making a video comparing all of them to each other. I understand what you’re saying about PoOT. I find they both have their pros and cons and honestly one always does things better than the other, and I think the only way we will get the wonderful Harvest Moon games that we got when I was a kid, would be if they were to team up again, which I doubt will happen.
@@vitaluka Funny enough I used to really love the OG AWL and for some reason now having to breed my animals to get milk and sell the babies makes me sad and I can't get into it. Because I basically started caring only about the farming sim game play stuff. The AWL remake is something I think I'd probably like to have eventually, but I don't see getting it release or near release. The last time I tried to play AWL SE I didn't even get to having a kid after making sure if have a girl when I did have one. I just can't get into the atmosphere the way I used to and am not a socializing player anymore. Feels weird. I've ways found it a shame that Marvelous never utilized it in a less story driven/more standard farming sim entry. And yeah that's fair about the mutations. Having played all their entries besides Mad Dash I kinda think they tried to recalibrate mutation rates after a few were a nightmare and overdid it in OW a bit. Some of the quest ones were the bane of many a player. (In part because of where they were planted, but that also had to do with where one would logically be at the time.) Yeah I think the makes it interesting is what I enjoy! Nope PoOT didn't fix that, I don't even think they think of it as something that needs to be fixed.

Wow, so much effort into this video, major kudos!

This was a good In depth Comparison i will get sos since it has been most recommended, Thank you for pointing out the dlc i will skip them.
I played SOS because I thought it will be good, but it's not, compare to previous SOS. I wandering if i must try harvest moon one world.

like mana from heaven. i'm serious!
Does your opinion will change if Moon Harvest comes free with PS Premium on playstation?
