What do you think about the new cybersecurity Google certificate?

  • @VazDoesTech

Good morning Josh. Not sure about 2023, but in 2022 the Google IT Professional Support certainly helped me land a Desktop Support Analyst role with a University and an interview with another. It wasn’t listed as a desired qualification in the job spec but when I talked about what the course entailed the interviewers appreciated it. They also have some sort skill stuff in the course too and template CV’s. I’d recommend it to somebody who wants to switch career.

Hi all, just wanted to share my experience with the Google IT Certificate.
I completed the Google IT Support certificate a month ago. I watch Josh’s videos almost religiously. I used his resume template, and took his advice on creating a GitHub, and interview practice. I’ve applied to about 90 jobs. I’ve had 4 interviews.
I just received/accepted my first job offer as an IT Support Technician. No prior experience in tech. Transitioning from an overnight warehouse job.
It is definitely possible to get an entry level job in IT, listen and do what Josh suggest.
Side note, I would’ve also happily paid the price for his courses to expedite the process and get his one-on-one help but financially I couldn’t but if I had the extra money it would’ve gone to that 100%. Now with my new job and its boost in pay I will likely get his cybersecurity course in the near future.
Thank you seriously Josh for all the value you provide with your content!
Hope this helps those in the pursuit, keep going!

@@RealZayComo Thank bro! So I’m getting close now to having 6 months of experience in my IT support specialist role and can say it’s been great. Since starting I’ve done all kinds of task, provisioning computers and creating user credentials for new hires. Workstation setups. Assist with keeping company website up to date, fixing website functionality issues. Basic helpdesk troubleshooting task like resetting passwords, hardware and software help. Prior to me starting there, the IT Dept didn’t have a ticketing system to log, track, and monitor service tickets so I’ve been able to help with the implementation of that as well. My experience has been great, learning stuff all the time and gaining experience. Ya man go for it!

@@ak99989 I’m not from UK so I can’t really speak confidently on how effective having the IT support cert will be for you in the UK job market bro. But what I can say confidently is the Google Cert will give you a very good base of knowledge and what you can expect when working in Help desk/IT Support. The cert gave me my foundational knowledge for IT. Josh’s information on how to get into IT showed me how to execute during the job hunt. Josh has great videos just teaching actual technical skills. You should get the cert and join Josh’s course for real. If you apply what he teaches you, you’ll get a IT job at minimum.

I am on week 4 System Administration and IT Infrastructure Services and I have no IT experience and it is giving to much high level information for an entry position. I have had to google and use youtube for a lot of help. I don't understand way they give information to things that you will never touch.

I'm taking your IT course and the Google IT Cert at the same time, and so far, I'd say it's worth the $50. Even if it doesn't help me get a job, it's useful in other ways, such as providing great information that could help prepare me to take the Comptia a+ as well as being the prerequisite I need to get into WGU. It can be worth it depending on what u wanna do!

Hey Josh, I’m currently about to graduate high school this spring and was wondering if it’s better to go to community or university college for IT, i understand that going to university can be expensive but with that I also want to minor in finance so I don’t think Community will offer that much of a better course, also as a side note, should I just take online courses like CBT nuggets or WGU rather than a college experience considering they may have a better perspective on the recent sort of trend to do with cloud computing?

Not sure what your knowledge level is in tech but interview confidence just comes with experience. If all you’re doing is speaking the truth (with a little finesse 👀) then it’s not so hard. You’ll always be a little bit afraid speaking in front of people , but just focus on knowing your stuff and actually do some interviews !

Based on my personal experience, I can say that Google Certificates alone may not take you very far in the UK, unless you have relevant experience, or even better, a bachelor's degree in computer science. However, it's worth noting that if you have sufficient practical experience, that can be considered valuable as well.
