I was thinking of starting aws and studying for the cloud practitioner certificate would you say that this is a replacement or is supplemental for aws? thank you
This is the only cert I've got. Using it and focusing my CV on the skills from my previous job like customer services and logical trouble shooting steps, I was able to land an IT job and with a year of IT experience I'm now working in IT support at Amazon/AWS.
I’ve been working as a software developer for about 4 years and now I want to become a solutions architect at aws… I’m currently studying to get the cloud practitioner certificate
I got the certification back in 2017 when it launched and then went on to become a system admin for Microsoft and netsuite products. I'm also the primary contact for our vendor management and work with a team of developers around the world for our website. I do some powerapps development. I have a bachelor's in business. Immediately after getting the certification I got a help desk job at a monitor company and eventually became a manager for their technical support department. Prior to the certification I was already a writer for a video game website creating tech articles about monitors gadgets computer parts so having the certification helped me back up what I was already talking about. Sorry for any errors in this I'm using voice to text.
I am also doing this certification course and I'll be done with the 1st part ( course) today. I'm hearing it'll be hard to find a job with just certificates even with certs like A+ etc but I'll worry about that part once I finish the course. I will be watching your video's to get more info and knowledge. thank you
Thank you for your honest review. I liked the content you created. I live in Mexico and I just enroll on the Google IT through Coursera. I have been working as a bilingual customer service representative for over 15 years and I want to switch to the Information Technology field. I been attracted to computers and working in computers since before the Y2K. I remember going in high school and taking computer classes and saying I want to become an ethical hacking. But recently I decided that I must make the jump and stop thinking about, so that's how I ended on the Google IT. I was doing the CompTIA ITF + fundamental objectives on TH-cam, but I decided to change it to the Google it. So I hope this would get me a second job. I don't want to leave my current job since it's well paid and I know for an entry level in IT here in Mexico will be way less than, so I hope to get an opportunity with a job offer soon. Wish me luck. And good luck to you and your videos. Nice channel. I just subscribed.
Hi Lucy, thanks for your insights, always. I'm currently enrolled in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program, on Coursera. I must confess, its mind blowing. For me, it's worth the time & every ounce of investments put into it. I was in doubt on if to enroll for the course, as I was searching to equip myself with the requisite IT foundation, after watching this video about two months ago, I was able to decide on enrolling to the course. Already done with the first course in the series of 5. Gracias mucho
@@TechwithLucy it’s not too bad! I couldn’t find the Microsoft certified professional, so I chose to do this instead and I’ll probably focus on the Azure fundamentals afterwards
@@surayyah7503 I actually finished and added it to my resume. I think it's very much so important to take something like that to decide if that's what you want to do. I on the other hand had to wait a long time because I needed accessibility software because of a disability. But whereas someone who doesn't have a disability and can do for themselves, it can be very helpful because it's hands-on experience and you wouldn't have to wait to get on the job training. It was very helpful and learning about debugging and customer service process and things of that nature. But in all fairness the position I have now I got because of experiance and most people especially government agencies are going to be looking for the security plus. So depending on what route you take it's not going to be something that is a waste of time
I've passed and certified as a Google Professional Cloud Architect. But unable to find a job because I'm near 50yrs old. Maybe you need to do a preface on that. lol. Zero IT experience for higher certificates might not be ideal.
That’s so true! Ageism is still REAL in Corporate America. Like the guy said in the last comment, you have to accept an IT entry level help desk job, and work your way up. I know it will be hard, but you will get to the top faster if you’re really hungry that way. NOBODY will offer you a high paying position from the jump. Just my experience, and two cents. Also, if you don’t mind too, look for positions in other states. Good luck!!! 👍🏾 ❤😊
I have both Google and ibm IT Support certificates and still i didnt get any job yet, maybe something wrong with my cv anymore could help with fixing what's wrong.
@@tobeact4872 sure thing about the degree but still alot of people got a job without it, it's all about what can u give the company in exchange for hiring you.
Hi Lucy, thank you for your very informative videos! So helpful for someone like me looking at ways into the industry with some tech experience but nothing to boast about. I want to start a course on Coursera but im stuck between the Google It Support Cert or IBM's Information Technology (IT) and Cloud Fundamentals Specialization. For someone looking to learn more about IT and eventually help me land an entry level job, which of these courses would you recommend? I plan to take both at some point but I'm not sure which one will be more helpful for starting out.
I did my google it support from coursera during my trial period but i am unable to download the certificate. As they say i have to wait untill my trial ends and i have to pay for my subscription to start means i have to pay for that. Is this true?
I just completed the 5 courses on the Google IT support professional certification course on Coursera Please what are the next steps to secure an entry level job
Can someone who has one or more professional level certificates and no work experience get a job as an intern? Without even a degree. I saw such a video and asked if it was true.
I have an international degree, bachelor's in IT before moving to the US Is it advisable for me to take it, or should I go for more specialized courses like cybersecurity / data analytics. I have no experience only web development internships. I love your content btw, it really put me on the path that I want to be in.

companies value experience over degrees or certs, best to start in the it support roles and work your way up in the company

Hey, Lucy, what entry level job should I shoot for if I want to go into cloud?
Any that have “associate” or “junior” in the title, or any IT administrator or support roles! E.g. Junior Cloud Administrator
I did that program. It's good. The problem is to find the job ... they ask for many things more
What other things do they ask for? Just curious.
@@couriouszen They ask for university degrees or some experience.
I heard from a colleague, just apply anyway and sell your skills amd certs that you have
I just got this certification and actually i'm from Dominican Republic and find a job in this country is dificult :(
You can apply to remote jobs in the US.
This is so helpful!
