  • Episode 31 sees me joined by author, mental health advocate and trauma survivor Madeline Popelka.
    Madeline is the creator of the largest trauma healing community on instagram, @ healingfromptsd and has recently published the beautiful book 'You're Going To Be Okay - 16 Lessons on Healing after Trauma'. In this episode of us Anxious Folk, Madeline shares her trauma story, as well as the journey towards healing - including her experiences with therapy, being honest and vulnerable about the darkest parts of herself, and how we can learn to find hope and safety in the presence of traumatic memories and internalised fear.

    Having your reactions to scary situations minimized is damaging. I experienced this from a very young age. Whether it was witnessing DV, a child sibling suffering and dying from cancer, other forms of abuse either personally or witnessed. Yrs of anxiety that I never had a name for, until adulthood. Internalizing trauma from childhood is truly life altering.
