You don't really have to for short routes, but for long routes it can be handy to do it via the fix-airway-fix way. Go to the RTE section of the FMC and go to the next page. There you can enter the first waypoint of the airway, the airway itself and then the last waypoint of the airway. The FMC will automatically enter all the other waypoints on that same airway for you.

Nice video!, I just wanted to ask about a problem I'm having with the IFly 737 FMC. It's just that many of the sids and stars aren't in the database of the FMC i've tried a lot of times and it doesn't work, it isn't letting me flight correctly. Please if you know how to solve this issue, would you explain it? Thanks and much suppot!
You might want to update your AIRAC data. Give it a search on Google and you will find out ;)

You have to check your Standard Instrument Departure charts for that. They will show you the departure routes from your airport. Each runway has a couple of departure routes that will bring you to the first waypoint on your flightplan.

I don't have the iFly 747, never seen or heard about it either. This is a 737.
The IDENT page is actually one of the most important pages. Besides checking the identification of the aircraft, you check the status of the navigation database. If you want to stay up to date by downloading AIRAC packages for your NAV database for example, you can see which database is currently active and which one is on standby.

Hello, Do you know how to read a message that appears on the right hand side of the fmc is a vertical screen in the bottom part, plus it doesn't let me input anything either with the mouse or the keyboard? Thanks awesome tutorial.

The driving cars in front of the cockpit are included in the Aersoft Berlin-Tegel scenery and the cars attatching to the aircraft are from Aerosoft's AES ;)

Do you have enter all the waypoints in there? Seems hard to know and atc might vector you away from you set in it
No, this is a rather simplified FMC tutorial. You can also enter the route with airways and fixes in the RTE page. If ATC vectors you, go into the legs page and find the waypoint. That's why it's important to review all your waypoint a little, so you at least kind of know where on the route you will find it.
what addon is for your airport services? and other aircraft such as the lufthansa ?
I'm using Aerosoft's Airport Enhancement Services (AES). Other aircraft are from Ultimate Traffic for FS2004. :)
This is a great product and tutorial.,however..,I have some issues with the autopilot sometimes it engages and some times it does not!..,any idea?..,greetings!.

In the configuration manager that comes with the product :)
Ooh in that case go to the configuration manager. Click on "My Fleet" and select the aircraft version you fly with. Then click on edit so you can change the settings for that version. There's a "Startup State" section where you can select either Cold & Dark, Normal or State of last exit. Make sure you select Normal or Cold & Dark in your case. When you reload the airplane without shutting down Flightsim first, you might need to load the default cessna first, shut it down, and then load the iFly!

To do a co-route, do you make a route on Simbrief ext... then save it into this directory. Documents/Flight Simulator X files?

you dont need simbrief...go to flightplandatabase.com/ its alot better in my opinion without being overly complicated
Can FMC be changed on the fly or once executed your filed plan is final?
Where have you got the waypoints from?
Unfortunately I have already tried this but it did not help. I turn on the captains FD and then the F/O's. I have reinstalled the 737 and that did not help either. The A/P bar is up. However, I am using FS2Crew, so maybe it's interfering with something.

this aircraft iFly 737 seems to have exactly the same bug as the aerosoft A320...you gotta turn off fly by wire on the latter to stop it from shaking to pieces and this is without recording...so how do i do this on the ifly 737, i look at the wing and all i can see is the flaps shaking to bits?

Perhaps a good tip; When you've entered your route you can check if it is really what you want by going to the LEGS page, select PLAN mode on your efis control panel and press STEP on the bottom right of your CDU. This way you can confirm your route step by step.

+Gerónimo Serrano Merit Three is your SID, probably in MERI3 format in the DEP/ARR section, U145 is an airway, same with U453. To put airways in, you need a ending waypoint, so you need an extra waypoint after U453. Go to Route > Next Page > Airways into VIA > FIX into TO, example:
VIA: Z841 TO: BIGSU. Remember: You ALWAYS need an ending waypoint for the airway, otherwise you cant do it, it could be the first waypoint of the STAR. Remember: If you dont want an ending waypoint, just put anyone in, and delete it in the legs page :)

They are not the same product and above all the iFly 737 works flawlessly if installed properly as instructed on their forums.
From where did you find the names of the waypoints( the DMEs and VORs)
Any flight planner will have some kind of detailed waypoint list, which includes the names of the VOR stations. Including vatroute, just click on the printable version ;)
Ok! I am not familiar with the iFly manual so I did not know whether it was in there or not. Why do you use flaps 10?

You might want to upgrade your AIRAC data, please search for Navigraph for that ;)
+AviationPro all the folders and files are in the Ifly folder and it is showing up to date but for some reason it will not acknowledge it in the FMC? It has been that way since I installed that plane! That plane has been sitting in my inventory and unused since I have not been able to get it to work. Lol
Well, best thing is to visit the iFly forums, they have great support there and they know what they're doing! ;)

+Flightguy69 You have to run FSX/P3D as admin to allow it to access files. For Aribus X the nav data is stored outside the main Prepar3d folder so you don't have to run as admin, but for iFly it is all kept within Program Files (x86) / Locheed Martin / Prepar3D v3/ iFly / etc.

I'm not sure, but doesn't the FMC automatically resets itself after landing? I rarely make two flights right after another, but I believe it should say "END OF FLIGHT PLAN" (or something like that) when you're landed. If you really want to reset the FMC completely manually you'll have to search for it in the manuals I'm afraid! :)
when i try and enter into the FMC, it only allows me to enter one letter, if i try and put in another letter it replaces the last one with the new one? any ideas as to why this is?

In Microsoft Flight Simulator you can click at a gauge and then it pops out and so does the FMC! :) I don't know if that is possible in X-Plane.

How do you insert airways on the route?
By recording with Fraps. With fraps you can record video, audio and external audio all at the same time.
how did you get the route i only have 3 letter vors not 4 letter

I have an issue with this FMC and I hope you can help.
My issue is that I can only type in one digit or letter at the same time, eg. if I want to type in 15 for flaps, it'll only type in 1 and that 1 will change to a 5, if I then click the flaps button, it'll only change to 5 and not 15, same with airport codes etc.. is there any way anyone knows how to fix said issue? regards.

I find that hard to believe. If you search for "ifly doors" on Google you'll get the answers straight away. There's no door opening function in the FMC.

You have to complete the performance data first, otherwise the aircraft can't calculate the VNAV data for your route thus you can't activate it.

For your CG%...you can just double click the L3 button and it will automatically configure the trim and the CG% for you

Well, I hope this tutorial helps you with the SIDs en STARs :) It might be kinda difficult to change the route in your FMC while flying. Sometimes the runway changes at the very last moment, but you'll just need to practice that together with the iFly 737 manuals. I believe KLM uses cost index 30, so I always use 30 during all my flights! ;)

Really good thorough tutorial, the only problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to reset the FMC to what it was when I first loaded the aircraft -_- It's actually very annoying, so please help!
Electrics on? Enough fuel? Fuel pumps on? Usually when you move the switch to the "start" position it takes a little while for it to actually start, but it should work!
how you understand what routes to enter
Actually you should use both in order to fly the airplane through the FMS. LNAV means Lateral Navigation. By engaging LNAV the autopilot will fly the route you've entered into the FMS. VNAV means Vertical Navigation. By engaging VNAV the autopilot will fly and maintain the vertical profile of your route that's being automatically calculated when pressing the Execute button on the FMC when you've fully entered the route and performance data.

No, you're not allowed to go direct from one airport to another. You have to follow an official route. Sometimes ATC can give you a shortcut if you're lucky enough ;) I always use vatroute.net for my flights in Europe. That's a database with up-to-date routes and it also gives you a good overview of all the waypoints in your route. Then you simply enter all those waypoints in the FMC as shown in this video. Of course, the route is a bit longer, but it's the same thing as in real! ;)
You lost me at 5.50 - why do you use BRANE to November, and why do you type in the rest of the waypoints and where did you find them. Surely you can upload a flight plan to the FMC which avoids all this typing in of waypoints?

Blocks voor je wielen zijn er geloof ik niet, maar voor die wagentjes om je vliegtuig heen gebruik ik gewoon AES. Dan heb je er ook veel meer en dat kan je ook met alle addons gebruiken. Er is ook in de Flight1 File Library een all-in-one-gauge beschikbaar waarmee je alle deuren kan opendoen. Bedankt voor het kijken! :)

I am having a frustrating problem with the autopilot. I do what people told me to do, yet I still have the problem. I completely did the FMC, entered the correct info, entered he trim, did not put pressure on the yoke. I have done everything, yet I still have the same problem. When I try to engage the autopilot, nothing happens, the FMC says thrust required? Seriously, if I can't find the solution, I would just go to PMDG...
You do not even need to program the FMC to get the autopilot engaged. First, just try to fly the airplane and use one of the basic modes (FLCH, HDG and SPD). No pressure on any flight controls (make sure the joystick sensitivity is not too high, otherwise it might still register movement even though you are not touching it. At least one Flight Director on, then either CMD A or B, then one of the modes. No need to switch to PMDG just for that ;)
Quick question- Do you think that re-installing FSUIPC work?
You could give it a try. Or just completely recalibrate any joystick you use.
This is not PMDG, but it will work for the PMDG as well as they simulated the same airplane.
