    In this video I will go a little bit more technical. I will be showing you how pilots do the initial FMC setup in the cockpit. I will show you where we find the information we need from our LIDO flightplan and plates.
    After the initial FMC setup we need to do a Route check, Briefings and the final CDU setup, which is done when the loadsheet arrives at the aircraft.
    Leave me a message and say what you think of this type of videos.

    I think these kind of videos are teachfull, and that they give something new and 'fresh' to the channel.
    it might be helpful just to give a quick explanation before the the actual video. Some people dont have knowledge in the topic...
    Thanks for this, and all other great video podcasts!

    thanks! this cleared up quite a few questions im having with flight sim, seems like the hardest part is finding the correct information to punch into the fmc in the first place. made more difficult by needing antiquated charts and airport information in FSX for the fmc to understand lol. but great learning tool thanks for the video!

      Mark Purpose the use of a simulator is actually better for MP to show you guys what is happening. in a real world environment, the pace on the flight deck is brisk. i.e both pilots performing their pre departure procedures, talking to each other, and the ground crew. it wouldn't leave him much time to do what he loves, giving all of you an up close and personal experience with his aircraft. as instructional videos go, no one takes you closer to the 737 than MP. be sure and download the Mentour Aviation app, cold and dark and FMC are covered in more depth there❤

    Wonderful video Capt. njyd it alot.. can u explain a bit more on what would you do on long routes where u may want to make route changes enroute due to weather change .. or a diversion in case of an emergency. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.. very resourceful!

    • @avamendez1272
      @avamendez1272 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Louis Menezes in the event of weather we can program a "lateral offset" left or right of present course by some number of miles to avoid a cell or a "direct to" function. that is, if ATC clears us to a way point that is ahead in the route, we can just select the assigned w/p and the FMC will bypass the next point in the sequence and fly to what was assigned by ATC. it's a great piece of kit❤

    it's amazing how many factors affect flight from Weight, Fuel Consumption, Wind, Temperature/Pressure. So much math is being calculated on the fly in that computer! But I wonder....How did early commercial pilots of the early 20th century plan and manage their flights such as those who flew the Ford Tristar, DC-3, etc. that would be interesting to see!

    Thanks for your video, need some help.
    I ran into problem with the auto pilot for PMDG 737. Sometimes i could activate the auto pilot during take off, other times, it wouldn't light up at all.
    For auto pilot to be activated, I understand that there are two conditions:
    1. Set altitude, or
    2. program the route in FMC,
    Since I'm doing a quick flight to test VS and FLC in auto pilot mode, I set the altitude only. But during the climb, the auto pilot button didn't light up when I press the button.
    Which step did I miss out?

    Nice.. I recognize that. FPL format. I'm pretty sure TH-cam doesn't know your Airline. But, just FYI, even FlightDeck2Sim works at your airline. And he doesn't disclose it either. How did I come to know?
    Guys, I know you want to say the answer in the comments, but please don't. It is a whole big thing with airlines-this privacy policy thing.
    Not many airlines fly 737, and keep a moto of efficiency and punctuality. Certainly not a whole lot of UK based airlines. And that FlightPlan? That is the answer.

    Hello, Sir
    This made me wonder, how does someone meeting a passenger track a flight and schedule with say a 40 minute delay or had to use an alternate airport? Meaning how long from your real time in flight and that new information is available for someone on the ground and how does that happen? Enjoy the channel, thank you.

    03:20 -> what is this fuel value? Is it the fuel onboard or the estimated burned fuel on arrival?

    • @pilotmax
      @pilotmax 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +LUX Spotting 6 tons is what will be on board the aircraft for departure. 3.4 after the / cymbol is the actual value of fuel on board, you can see it increasing as they're currently refueling. If the planned fuel (6 tons) is not entered the FMC calculates the Gross weight and related aircraft performance with the fuel on board (3.4 tons at that moment). Entering 6 tons in planned fuel tells the FMC to make his calculations with 6 tons and not with the fuel currently on board.

    I've noticed you enter 2.4 tons as your reserve. However in other videos I've seen pilots enter FINAL reserve which is usually around one ton (depending on your alternate). Could you clue me in on that? Thanks!

    • @marshallhogan3440
      @marshallhogan3440 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reserve - Fuel needed to fly a missed approach at destination, divert to alternate and fly the full arrival.
      Once we hit our reserve fuel, we need to decide if we are going to divert, or commit to our destination.
      Final reserve - Fuel emergency, 30 Mins of fuel left. 737 burns 2.4 tonnes an hour, so 1.2 tonnes ( around that figure ) will be your final reserve.
      If you hit your final reserve amount, you must call a mayday.

    Capt. Mentour,
    What is ROUTE DISCONTINUITY ? How do you correct the problem ? Who generates the flight plan ? I thought the Capt. was responsible to generate, file , print and submit ? JohnnyCharles61

    What is the difference between FBW and FMS? Or are they different?

      FMS=Flight management system That's like a big computer system that controls everything and you can give input to it with the CDU(=control display unit) what he was doing here. FBW.. Do you mean fly by wire maybe?

      Here is the explanation of fly by wire: ''Movements of flight controls are converted to electronic signals transmitted by wires, and flight control computers determine how to move the actuators at each control surface to provide the ordered response. The fly-by-wire system also allows automatic signals sent by the aircraft's computers to perform functions without the pilot's input, as in systems that automatically help stabilize the aircraft, or prevent unsafe operation of the aircraft outside of its performance envelope.'' I think the 737 doesn't have this. Most Airbus types have it and I think the 787 and 777 too. So with fbw the computer takes more control itself and corrects your input.

    TAppreciate you doing a video on this but just too fast. Should show better references on flight plan as to where you get information from.

    I love all your videos but this one just beat me and I'm really no wiser than when I started watching. Too fast for a relative novice to take in. Still everybody else seems to have kept up so I guess they are just more experienced
