I feel like they could find a way, especially now that Half life Alyx is out and many of valve's developers are since freed to add ways to incorporate the soundtrack beyond just the bootup screen and match victory/ loss moments, because think how much cooler the game would be if like minecraft, the soundtrack responded in real time, so maybe a spy gets a god like killstreak and you hear "right behind you" slowly fade in. Fun fact: Most people recognize the voicelines and the characters but don’t know what game it’s from. Heck, some of heavy’s voicelines were an important part of the 2012 meme culture.
Gmod skits were the ones that brought me into the game. Although I didn't have a computer at the time, I remember just watching through all the Gmod animations that has TF2 content, especially the late Kitty0706's videos. It's funny how this game even after those years, and despite not being formally in the game prior to first discovering it, was still special to me. Valve created another timeless piece of art to add their collection once again.

I feel that the MMIMI gun is more satisfying in the way you mow down everyone instead of hitting a pipe or a rocket directly. Both super satisfying but in different ways
And it still feels fair to your opponents because Heavy is so slow that by the time you're revved up and ready to cut them down they've already messed up horribly so they still get all that feedback for how to survive next time.
it feels great seeing someone who hasn't been on the internet for a while return with such a high quality video. Also, it's cool to learn that you watch one of my favorite TF2 content creators, considering the fact that you are also one of my favorite youtubers, Jameskii.
I literally just realized something after watching this again. 5:55 is the same Sniper and Soldier that shot the Scout at 7:08. It's such a nice call back and just smol detail I fricking love that detail, gg LazyPurple in hiding details into your vids, they're amazing
Reinstall TF2 in 2018, see a couple kids raging, entire server responds with "look kid this is TF2 winning and losing doesn't matter, only the fun." followed by the kid shutting up and enjoying the game it was beautiful
Random crits are just those little bits of life that say fuck you, like when youre driving through a forest and hit a deer that jumped in front of your car. You couldnt do anything, and the deer didnt know any better, but it happened.
@@kuranokyonshi I guess soldier is a bad class because you could theoretically dodge his rockets then. If he was complaining about soldier's rockets as a general thing then you would be right and it's just his fault for not dodging it or killing soldier before then, but a random chance to deal triple your damage is not something anyone should ever justify and is straight up unhealthy for the game
This was the first video I ever saw of LazyPurple. I have been watching intensely and have been subbed since then. Love the content, you have had tons of talent from 2017 to 2021.
Heavy's gun may not be hit or miss, but his encounters are. Even though it's an automatic gun, the high damage once firing begins and the rev up time in which you deal NO damage means that heavy's overall playstyle is hit or miss.
Same with automatic weapons in other games too. Though it seems odd to me that of all weapons shotguns need aim while with automatics you spray and pray. Feels weird.
Yep. Heavy revolves around good positioning more than just hitting every shot. If you position yourself well, you will find yourself mainly in one-on-one encounters, which you win in seconds. If you don't, you get swarmed and die in seconds.
To me, TF2 already have the all the needed classes and characteristics. While Overwatch is full of variety of characters, TF2 is really quality of the characters over quantity of the characters. There maybe just 9 classes but it's already enough and TF2 is giving us the full pizza (that's a metaphor BTW)
Something else remarkable about the Meet the Team series: They get the core of each class across. Meet the Heavy: Simple, big man with big gun. Shoot gun at bad guys. Meet the Pyro: Shows its frightening presence. Probably the least accurate today, as Airblast did not exist when it was made, which gave Pyro its supportive and increased his offensive potential, but no class wants to be alone against a Pyro, and that is expressed. Meet the Spy: Shows him taking out a Sniper and Engineer when they're alone, as well as demonstrating that Spy works best when the enemies are distracted (in that case, ironically, they were distracted by looking for him.) Meet the Scout: He wins the 1v1 against Heavy by catching him off guard and dodging his attacks, emphasized by his somewhat obnoxious personality, fitting his annoying nature as an evasion-based class. Meet the Medic: Before he makes it on the field, his team is losing. Then, he brings his healing potential and Uber and completely turns the tide. A single Medic can change the tide of an entire game. Meet the Sniper: Shows him alone. He does not interact with any other members of his team, and he is calm and relaxed about his job, much like the mindset you need to be in to effectively snipe. Meet the Soldier: Loud man with Rocket Launcher and Shotgun. He's simple, like Heavy, but it still demonstrates his capabilities. Blast jumping into battle and blowing up enemies with his patriotism. Meet the Demoman: Tricky. Shows him blowing up a Sentry gun with rollers, and also baits a team into a stickytrap. Granted, the shields did not exist then, but Demoman is all about making you second-guess walking through that choke point. Meet the Engineer: Somewhat inaccurate, probably more so than Pyro. However, the most exciting and unique thing about Engineer is the sentry gun. Granted, Dispensers and Teleporters do not really do anything exciting, but it could have shown him defending his gun as it defended the payload from a Spy or something. Meet the Sandvich: A weakened Heavy, after munching down, proceeds to fight two on one and win.
@@elgatochurro Demoman has three shield unlocks (Chargin' Targe, Splendid Screen, Tide Turner), and they provide the benefits of extra damage resistances (from greatest to lowest: Targe, Screen, Turner) and a charge maneuver.
Ya really got me into TF2 Lazy. When every vid of "How it feels to play" came out it made me want to become that characters. Then I realized how fun it is!
The extensive voice lines are great too. During payload matches, Heavy may say “We must push tiny cart.” while scouts voice-line is more to the effect of “Yo guys, the payload is stuck. I love how they say the same things in very different ways. They even have multiple voicelines for when each Character yells “MEDIC!” not just the same voiceline every time. It’s great.
This is related to character design. Each of the classes must look, sound and feel unique in every way possible. Thus, their appearances were designed specifically to have different silhouettes, postures, animations and stand-out features (Engineer is missing a bright glove, Pyro has two dark gloves). Players must be able to immediately identify everything in less than a second, from looking and listening.
Happy birthday, TF2! 2022 is a tough year, but it was in 2022 that TF2 began to play with new colors, when Valve still began to take care of its old game - Team Fortress 2. So, in honor of TF2's birthday, I went to rewatch this video, and damn it, I'm 100% sure that now people on the servers are having fun to the fullest! Happy birthday, TF2, and to all who read I wish good and positive for you, especially in such a difficult time!
Hey everyone, I missed ya. I don't want to get too into the details of my absence here, but just know that I thought about TH-cam nearly every day and felt really, really guilty about disappearing. This video would never have been created were it not for all of you who asked me to keep creating, despite all the evidence saying I was gone for good. I am going to truly invest myself in making the best content I can. If this video resonated with you, share it with a non-tf2 player to keep this amazing game going. Everyone deserves to play a bit of TF2 if you ask me Edit: Someone made a good point in the comments, so I thought I'd say here that this video is not meant to bash heavy and pyro. I personally love using the flamethrower and minigun, but they are inherently less interactive than the rest of the weapons. Heavy and Pyro's playstyles have more to do with positioning than dueling. They just don't fit the theme I talk about in this video. However, it should be noted that Pyro and Heavy did launch with shotguns as secondaries, so you could argue that they have always lowkey had a single-fire weapon as part of their kit
This game is literally what brought my husband and me together so many years ago when we were teens. I don't know how to thank the creators enough, it changed my life.
This is beautiful. The research, the details, the simple to understand structure, this is what a good presentation is for gaming. I hope to have this level when I go to pitch characters for different games.
I actually like how this guys appreciates everything! Free to plays to the gods, he loves them, and has the sprit of the game with in him! He is the TF2 sprit.
At 7:12 the scout is the same one that got shot at 5:55. You can even hear the sniper going “thanks mate” and the soldier going “yes”. The detail is crazy.
another huge thing about tf2 is they don't introduce new characters, just new weapons so there isn't a huge roster of characters to pick from/ characters that overshadow others
Because the amount of characters arent so saturated, every character feels very special and essential, and so they all have time to develop their characters so well. Remember quality over quantity, just like this video.
Wow this video was great it was definitely worth the wait. talking about the satisfaction of hitting single shots was great and the sfm animation was great. not to mention it was pretty funny thank you lazy purple for making such a masterpiece.
Damn, it's a strange feeling to see a LazyPurple video in my sub box... but you managed to exceed what were already high expectations. Welcome back! Hope you stick around.
That moment you realise it’s now 2020 and it still feels like this video came out like a week ago even though it came out 3 years ago. Edit: Wow that blew the fuck up! *OBLIGATORY SELF PROMO TIME* no Extra note 2 years later: 2022, this video turns five, and TF2 as a whole turns 15, holy shit!
Fun fact, I got into TF2 by a school friend telling me about it. I got on Steam, which I had gotten for the sole purpose of Undertale, and he told me to join his stream. I join, and you know what the first thing I heard was? The very first thing I heard out of TF2 was Soldier yelling “GET. ON. THE. POINT. NUMBNUTS!”. That alone dragged me in, and I’ve been playing for a solid two years now. So thanks, TF2, for giving me the best two years of my life.
I got into it when I was a little kid who couldn't afford for priced games. I didn't understand it at first, but three months later I reinstalled it and today I M proud to announce that this game took 2000 hours of my life and made me a weeb who mains spy.
That's how valve games are. Very few of them become truly dated, especially the ones on the source engine. Sadly, that's probably also why they barely release anything anymore. Why continue a franchise when the latest entry is still going strong and making cash after a literal decade?
@@mettatonneo1147 Adding to this, TF2 is heavily stylized and has an artistic style that is exceptionally tolerant of older technology, allowing the graphics to *STILL* look amazing, even over a DECADE later
@@thegunnitgamer5716 I really wish TF2 was more optimized and had more graphical settings, but other than that, it's a masterpiece of a game. what other game would make someone dump 100's of dollars for virtual hats, dances, and particle effects?
This is 4 years old and still holds very true! Being only 1 year older than tf2 its mind blowing how I picked it up a year ago and have poured in hundreds of hours since. This game by far nominates for the best game ever, and it is not even close.
As a fellow player, I will forever hold this video to my heart. It was absolutely wonderful, so positive, and brought up everything that is still special about TF2. And I absolutely love that first part of the video. It was a tender part there. Wonder effort and work on this Lazy, and the others who helped through with it! I can't wait for any future content like this, and I'm sure that I'm already impressed on it.
Mr. purple I have wanted tf2 for half of my life, and only recently have I decided to finally make a steam account and download tf2, despite my horrible computer and my one awful experience with bots in a casual server, it’s all I imagined it to be, some of my earliest memories of this game was watching the sfm, the gmod animations, a couple of your videos, I would like to thank you for helping me get so invested in this game
P.S. and despite my rage at losing, there’s something just so fulfilling about getting back up and going back at it, even if I die in a few shots, I’m not very good at this game
@@ombricshalazar3869 It is frustrating and even though it is strong ( pratically a straight upgrade from flare gun ) it isn't balanced in any way. It's the worst pyro weapon ( referring to design not strengh ) .
Bruh this is literally a modern persuasive essay, but in a video. This was great! Your thesis (main idea) is super clearly and greatly backed up! Definitely helped me learned more than one new thing in this vid not only about TF2 but legitimate writing as well. 👍
so this video is like...5 or 6 years old by now, and i'm really happy to say that lazypurple's videos were what got me into tf2 in 2020 :D ever since i watched all the how it feels videos three years ago i've been completely enamored with not only the game, but the characters & the lore. thanks lazypurple!!!
I agree so much! I remember how I used to watch these ridiculous and hilarious gmod videos of these wacky looking characters I knew nothing about. Then I learned these characters were from a video game called Team Fortress 2. I loved the characters from the gmod videos so much that I went and downloaded it. That was 7 years ago. Every day since then, I’ve enjoyed every second of this game, watching it evolve and grow, despite the occasional disappointing update. Although I don’t play it much anymore, Team Fortress 2 will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s a wonderful, wacky universe of interesting characters, unique atmosphere and art style, and some of the most finely crafted gameplay ever devised. I believe Team Fortress 2 still has a lot of life left in it and will continue to entertain players, old and new, for years or maybe even decades to come. It warms my heart to see the community is still active and growing over 10 years after release. I’ve been considering trying to get back into TF2 to experience the nostalgia of the days long past playing my favorite game of all time. God bless Valve. God bless the community. God bless Team Fortress 2.
After everything... all the memories and happiness both tf2 and lazypurple brought me, then coming back to the very start? I feel tears moistening my cheeks. o7
I know i might be a little late, but I had the same experience of finding tf2, fell in love with the characters and found your How it feels series and now i play tf2 with y Friends everyday thank you, LP
My favorite line from the "Meet the..." series "Do I have feelings? Blokes with feelings bludgeon their wives with golf clubs. Professionals have standards"
the line is "feelings? look mate, you know who's got alot of feelings? blokes that bludgeon their wife to death with a golf trophy. Professionals have standards."
This was in my recommended list for some reason and I don't' even play TF2. You have successfully gotten me interested in the game, time to go play it now.
I don’t really get this “feud” though. Like the only people nowadays that still debate this are tf2 fans who are like “Our game is better than overwatch” and I’m thinking “how sad it must be to constantly compare your game to another instead of enjoying it”
I like that at the begining when the screen is dark, you can see the pilot light on the pyros flamethrower, and for the entire beging part, you can hear the hissing from it as well. Nice detail
I hopped on tf2 today, and decided it would be funny to play scout, and just run and hit people with a bat. Appearently one scout saw this, and copied what I was doing, and it was hilarious. Eventually, this scout renamed himself to “bat”, the name I had currently. After every round, he said bat. It was truly magnificent. Eventually he had to go, and he said this: “Goodbye bat, I will miss you.” I will miss you too, (1)bat. I will always remember you. Tf2 is an amazing game, and will probably never live for a very long time.
This video has made me realize of how long it took me to actually start playing the game. I've watched the meet the team videos but never played it until november of 2019 and I can conclude that this is the best game I've ever played. Got 700+ hours on it.

Heavy's gun may not be hit or miss, but his encounters are. Even though it's an automatic gun, the high damage once firing begins and the rev up time in which you deal NO damage means that heavy's overall playstyle is hit or miss.
Unless Medic is behind u, then it isn’t
Yeah, it's the element of risk, not necessarily the single-fire mechanic
Same with automatic weapons in other games too. Though it seems odd to me that of all weapons shotguns need aim while with automatics you spray and pray. Feels weird.
Yep. Heavy revolves around good positioning more than just hitting every shot.
If you position yourself well, you will find yourself mainly in one-on-one encounters, which you win in seconds. If you don't, you get swarmed and die in seconds.
@@NeptuniumNecromancy that goes for 4 and kinda 5 of the games classes
Overwatch has so many characters.

eh maybe but some are getting pretty iconic
Jayden C ehh noo
@@scoutsownbucketofchicken2006 yeah I would say
@@Jdudec367 yeah, mercy and d.va is pretty famous in porn
Meet the Spy: Shows him taking out a Sniper and Engineer when they're alone, as well as demonstrating that Spy works best when the enemies are distracted (in that case, ironically, they were distracted by looking for him.)
Meet the Scout: He wins the 1v1 against Heavy by catching him off guard and dodging his attacks, emphasized by his somewhat obnoxious personality, fitting his annoying nature as an evasion-based class.
It’s great marketing by Valve
Shields?
@@elgatochurro Demoman has three shield unlocks (Chargin' Targe, Splendid Screen, Tide Turner), and they provide the benefits of extra damage resistances (from greatest to lowest: Targe, Screen, Turner) and a charge maneuver.

Actually, furries which have reptiles as their animal of choice are called Scalies. ('cause scales.)
It’s great.
That speech you magnificent Bastard.
It really bothers me that you missed a " there.
It's not just "I need healing"

If this video resonated with you, share it with a non-tf2 player to keep this amazing game going. Everyone deserves to play a bit of TF2 if you ask me
Edit: Someone made a good point in the comments, so I thought I'd say here that this video is not meant to bash heavy and pyro.
