I think you need to update this video. I just bought a 2 Channel 2 ohm amplifier. I plan on paralleling the 4 ohm speakers on a little two-door Geo Tracker
Some 2 and 4 channel amps are capable of 2 ohm mono loads, but very few. Back in the old school, we had 2 channel amps stable at 0.5 mono...you don't see those any more! "Cheater amps" are a thing of the past, but still cool nonetheless.
I have a single 12 Dvc audiobahn wired to 2 ohm and then i bridged it at the amp its the Blue 2 channel Hifonics Zues Viii 600 watt i also turned the gained down to a little past halfway is that ok to run like this
If you wanted to wire two 4ohm speakers bridged per set of channels on a 4-channel amp, just wire them up in series to achieve 8ohms, the amp will see 4ohms or a little more per set bridged when playing because the impedance is cut in half. Nominal impedance is resting resistance, electrical resistance generally increases when a speaker is in motion. Fs or free air resonance of a speaker or sub is when the resistance is at it's highest basically, so change it's environment/back pressure in an enclosure or baffle and the voice coil resistance increases at a different frequency range, otherwise known as box rise. Unless you have a cheater amp, don't wire them in parallel to 2ohms because the amp will then see a 1ohm nominal load.
First of all, I'm a huge fan of the channel, second, the second guy wasn't asking if you could bridge one channel on two speakers, he asked if you put four speakers on two channels, if you have two four ohn speakers in parallel it equals 2 ohms which on one channel of most all amplifiers is just fine, the only problem is that he would not have proper left/right, front/rear staging
It depends on the amp really. And yes,you two are saying the same thing. Most amps can handle 2 ohm loads in stereo but not bridged.Brendan is actually not answering the guys question directly, rather he reworded the question and then answered.
@@elijahwood1709 I have 4 (4 ohm) bookshelf speakers. But when I'm playing music I only use the 2 speakers coz I'm hesitant to connect my 4 speakers because of low impedance against my amplifier. Btw the amp can handle 180watts (left & right).
For 4 door speakers 300watts each pair (peak power), 4ohms, and a 300watts 2 channel amp. i am putting my right F and R speakers in series and left F and R speakers in series, and then hooking both sides (Left and Right combinations) in amp in 1 channel, means when you putting wires in the amp join the 2 positives that you have in the end and put it in the last (which at the end) positive and negative in the last negative(that will on the other end), e.g, you have 4 connection for 2 channel speakers A+ A- B+ B-, connect the last end of positive to A+ and negative to B-. that will give you the total impedance of 4ohm.

You can put as many speakers on a channel as you like by using series parallel circuits. Let's say you want to run 4 speakers on a channel put two 4 ohm speakers in series (hook plus to minus between them) and two more in series (same deal) then hook those two sets of series connected speakers in parallel. Not every Amp has bridge marking ..and if some one was wanting to know how clearly it wouldn't be marked ......the answer would be the plus from left channel and minus from right channel if it doesn't sound right try the opposite and running 4 speakers on a 2 channel is no problem just run them in series not parallel
Please make a video on understanding bridging. I am seeing online two different things and those are bridging does not lower impedance and that bridging does lower the impedance. So if you can answer this question I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm trying to find this out myself 😂 seeing that no one's responded to your question after 2 years I figure my hopes are dismal. I have Alpine manual from 1993, those amps only the left side fed the signal. I also have punch amps from the same year, and the owners manual doesn't say. I'm not going to assume anything, even if some are saying use a y adapter.

Quick question say if you had an amplifier that what you're going to bridge to two channels at 4 Ohms you're going to make one channel left the other channel right would you need 8 ohm speakers to bridge to 4 ohm?
I have found that running 2 ohm loads for mids and highs significantly lowers the sound quality anyway.I wired a component set to my sub channel in parallel dropping the load to 2 ohms.Amp channel is stable at 2 ohms so it was safe to do.I turned the filter off at the amp and used the HPF at the head unit. The power was definitely largely increased but the quality was not good at all.In my experience thus far, when it comes to mids and highs you are far better off running in stereo and if you do want to bridge for more power, make sure the load is no lower than 4 ohms. The closer to in stereo the higher the sound quality.
Ive had my speakers wired bridged at 2 ohms for the longest time now. i have a autotek mean machine M1400.4 and it only goes into protect when i do 1 ohm. but 2 ohm bridged works beautifully. i have 4 alpine sps 517 wired at 2 ohms bridged. 4 channel amp.
my question is does the amp need to be brideged to run a set of 2 ohm speakers in kick panels. Or will a special suited amp do that for me on two of the existing 4 channels? I believe it says amplifiers today that are labeled A/B Class can handle 4 ohms down to 2 ohms. So I gather you can run more power to the 2 ohm door speakers on the 2 channels, and the other 2 channels could run 2 more 4 ohm speakers. Giving you much more power for like either rear or front speakers depending on where you need more quality sound and volumn. A/B Topology - Class ‘A’ amplifiers have enormous amount of current flowing through its output transistors with no audio signal. Class ‘B’ amplifiers have no current flowing through its outputs with no audio signal. If I'm not correct please le me know. I have purchased two 6 inch speakers for kick pannels which I need them to create a louder sound due to position. So using a class ab amp I can use the front two channels to run just the 2 ohm speakers while running 4 ohm speakers in the rear. Hi, am using eonon D1001 car DVD and it has 5.1 ch preout, now my question is only about connecting subwoofer preout to amplifier that's 4 ch I've got, do I need to bridge? Or can I consider as similar as one channel to connect sub with one +and - note; leaving 3 ch input and output blank?Coz my idea is to use a 2ch amp and a 4 ch amplifier together to get Dolby 5.1 output.
Hey! I would like to get some help! I have a 2 amp setup. 1 amp for my high and mid speakers and 1 for a sub. The sub amp is a 2ch amp that i'm using in a bridge mode. Now the "main" amp has a single RCA output, the sub amp has a double RCA input (left-right). I connected them with a Y RCA cable. The sub amp has a channel assignment switch: Left / Stereo / Right. The manual says: Channel Assignment Switch • Determines the routing of the input signal for the RCA and IMS inputs. • LEFT: Sends the input signal from the left input to both amplifier channels, useful if you are bridging the amplifier. • STEREO: Sends the signals from the left input to the left output channel and the signal from the right input to the right output channel. (This is typical operation mode.) • RIGHT: Sends the input signal from the right input to both output channels, useful if you are bridging the amplifier. As you can see the LEFT and RIGHT switch literally doing the same right? It sends 1 RCA input to the bridged output. If I understand well I can't use the stereo mode if i'm using the amp in bridge mode I have to pick left or right so only 1 input is used so I don't even need a Y RCA cable only a single cable is enough right? Thanks for the answer!
Have question I just bought three boss phantom 12in 2300 watt subwoofers and have a 3700 watt boss phantom amplifier also just bought a 5000watt phantom amplifier......the question is what's the best way to wire them all up...
OK I have a 4 channel amp and was wondering if I can hook up 3 pairs of speakers to it? Reason being is because the 4x10 in the rear of my Tahoe are powered by the head unit and I want a little more power to the speakers?
Yeah I have an impedance matching volume control but nowhere to mount it my walls are plaster otherwise I would be good speaker selector is something I could use anyway so I'll check some of those out
Sorry I don't know much about car audio but I changed my amp to a rockford fosgate 800a2 2 ch I bridged it and am using 1 15" Q class L7 but unfortunately it is the same as the cheaper amp I still can't get sound from any tweeter I connect- is it possible to connect tweeters to a 2 ch bridged amp?
I have a question which I can't find anywhere on the internet. Can I have like my front speaker at 150 Watts RMS and the rear Speaker at 200 Watts RMS on the right side channel this is a 2 channel amp. I was just wondering if you can use different RMS speakers one side of channel?
Brendan,I respect you guys and what you do.I would like to point out though that you didn't answer the 2nd question correctly. You re-worded the question and answered accordingly.Watch the video and read the second question. Then FF to where you address it.You'll see what I mean.
Hay I have 2 12inch subwoofers connected in Parallel and I’m using a 1000 W amp in bridged mode And every time I try to turn the volume up on my stereo to pass 20 the amp goes in to protect mode I have to keep the stereo under 20 and my amp at 0 ohms to keep it not going into protect mode what could be the problem ?
Okay so if we have say a factory two ohm amplifier and two four ohm speakers can you wire the speakers in parallel for a 2-ohm load and bridge it across the two rear channels
I have a cheap punch p4004 i have bridged it sounds ok but I have recently bought tweeters to connect but I can't get sound from tweeters I since bought another set think the first were no good but these also got no sound so I bout another quality tweeters Memphis Audio MJPT25 and those too get no sound whats going on?
Get another RCA cable and run from your HU (if it has it) Most newer radios have 3 sets of RCAs in the back. Front, Rear, and Sub If it only has 1, get a RCA splitter. Must have in order to use all 4 channels on the amp.
Old school vintage Coustic Audio Coustic460 .. amp.. is a 2 channel that can run 2 ohm bridged i have one running 4 subs from. CT sounds CT pro 8 subs dual voice coils with two subs on one channel other two on other channel. both pair are 4ohm by themselves but wired in parallel to 2ohm bridged mono
So with a 4 channel amp can i wire a set of coaxials to 2 ohms and do that for the front 2 channels? then bridge the rear channels to power a sub hooked at 4 ohms?
If you wire two 4 ohm speakers in series, you create a 8 ohm load... then by bridging at the amp drop the 8 back to a 4 ohm load. The amp doesn't care how many speakers, just the load that it sees..... isn't that correct?
WAIT so to connect one sub woofer to a bridged 2 channel amp @ 4 ohms------ I put one wire to the black to the red on the SUB--- THEN put one red to the positive and one black to the negative TO the amp. THEN that puts both the sub and the amp at 4 ohms? making my 2 channel amp into bridged mode making 2600 watts at max? I believe i am correct BUT I am never sure.....
Like he said.... The only time you can do that is if you have 2 8ohm mid range/mid bass speakers and then you can make it work because most amps are only 4ohm stable when bridged
Question ? I’ll make it simple. One sub, dual voice coil, 4ohm and two ohm ratings on the speaker package. What amp do I need to power them ? Mono or two channel ? And when using a two channel do you simply wire each voice coil to each channel or what ? And lastly, how is the power distributed between the voice coils meaning is the rating per voice coil or does each coil need to run at the rated rms? Sorry so lengthy
Never run a dual voice coil to both channels on the Amp unless bridged meaning don't run one voice coil to left and other to right you wire the dual voice coils as 1 speaker plus to plus and neg to neg then the neg to neg and the pluses to plus that's parallel creating 2 ohm on two 4 ohm voice coils and the plus of one side into the neg of the other voice coil then connecting to the plus ang neg posts that are not jumpers and that is series and would be 8 ohm
What if you wanted to bridge 2 channels to increase the output but wanted to run a single high powered 8ohm speaker will that do any dammage to the amp?
Oh buggah - then I must have really screwed up then.. running a 7.3+1 system (for about five years at extremely loud settings) - off the head unit of a Blaupunkt ten disc CD stacker - changer (in my old Delica 4wd van - between 2003 & 2007 - being as it was - a 25 speaker setup for the seven main surround channels - the three master subwoofers and of course - the summated add-on extra low reverb speaker. Amazingly - it never blew anything - except people's brains when they heard it. 126.6 dB too running at about 75% loudness at the NZ Sound Off SPL measurement competition, held in Alexandra in 2003 - at the Blossom Festival event. But then - you see, I already knew what I could DO - with the 300 watt Reactor amp - that I bought for the lowest price possible - at the Warehouse (here in New Zealand) I also KNEW how to balance the reactances of various wattage / as well as reactance / resistances - of the various speakers, dug out of such things as an old valve radio - some house speakers (8 ohms they were) and others of various numbers, such as 6 ohm sony wall speakers, some 16 ohm AIWA surrounds, and assorted others.. 25 speakers. seven main channels three subwoofer speakers and a summated (ultra low frequency filtered) vibrator central channel dual 8 ohm speaker set (being two speakers - one speaker inverted across the other with the two BOLTED together to seal the air inside the diaphragms - of the two speakers) These were wired - not in series but in reverse series, one driving OUT as the other pulled IN (& visa versa as the AC audio signal went through it's own inversion state). Thus the vibrator speaker set - thundered in and out, lifting the van UP then pushing it hard down on it's springs.. Lovely device that was - driven by all seven channels "electrically" summated together as ONE. I used transformers of course to isolate each of the seven main channels - before summating them all Be a bit of a buggah it would have been - if all seven channels had been "shorted out" by the vibrator being hard wired to them all. Hence - I know - that the statement you have made - is NOT exactly true. An amp is a funny thing. Balance the load that connects to it, and you can power not one - nor two or three - but (as in my case) 25. Cheers. Or - if using an old CDS-370 house amplifier unit (or two) - one can physically drive 88 speakers, inside 64 cabinets, running a 25 channel surround sound system - off an old compact cassette tape recording. ONE - is not restricted by a ONE speaker alone installation. See? Well you will if you watch this.... th-cam.com/video/Ub0S8eTijrA/w-d-xo.html
Im not a fan of it due to the left and right signals not being the same. So one side of ur sub may be pushing more power then the other side due to it not being mono
But if it was a high wattaged sub and high watted amps maybe itd be dope but its prob jack all compared to mono. I got my rockford fosgate t1 hooked up the way your asking it only 170 wats to each coil wich the t1 can take 600rms all together the bitch doesnt even move i got the amp like a sliver away from full blast. Sitting wer i sit u can hear the clearness but wen u put ur head up to it u hear fuck all with all the other subs playing
If i have a 1800 watt fosgate punch 601s 2 channel bridgable 2&4 ohm capable and i have 4 8inch dvc subs with a final impedence of 2ohm, is it safe to run bridged?
So if the sub is a 4 ohm and the amp says it can do 2 ohm would the amp put out more power if I purchase a two ohm sub? The two ohm rating is higher on the back of my old school 2 channel mono amp from mtx.
Question if i took my two ten inch kicker comp single coal 4.0ms i ran them parrell n bridged them would it b better to run regular r bridge it .n i hear u say u cant parlell 4oms i have no protection.now im running them bridged as of now parelll.n bridged on amp

Hi. So you said is not possible connect two speakers in one car radio channel. Because car radio has 4ohms. So my car radio has 50w 4ohms and I want to connect two speakers in one radio channel. Parallel 4 ohms+4 ohms=2 ohms 4ohms+8ohms=2,5 ohms 8 ohms+8 ohms=4 ohms So if I connect two speakers in parallel 75w 8 ohms 75w 8 ohms 150w 40hms Good or no?

i wired my sub to 4 ohms = 400 watts from the amp. CAN I bridge that on my 2 ch sub amp and get 800 watts? amp is R1200-1D spk good for 300-600 watt/ 1200 peak
What about running a 4 ohm dvc sub at 8 ohms bridged? I mean ive been doin it for quite long time now with my visonic but i have been told a amp will die runnin 8 ohms bridged i think its bs what do u think?
so i should be able to hook up my little 10 inch woofer not bridged to my 1400 watt amp and just turn down the level and not worry about blowing it? since its not getting less wattage then when its bridged correct?

You can run 4 speakers on a 2 channel amp if it's NOT bridged! the system in my next car will have the front and rear speakers wired in parallel down to 2 ohms per channel.

How about a dual voice coil on a two channel amp? Could you tell me how to run that??
my question is does the amp need to be brideged to run a set of 2 ohm speakers in kick panels.

I have 2 Dvc 15s on a bridged 2 channel amp. Works fine
Yoo bro what's up
I have a sony amplifier 500 watt
Can i put 4 speakers in it??
It will be very helpful if you help me out with this Thank you.
I got a sound storm labs ev2.2000 and kenwood p- xw1221dph how can I wire it up
I currently have the Tens in my box hook to a Kicker 400. 1 amp wired in parallel at 2 ohms
U can always change the way u wire your speakers to get a different final impedance. Could u bridge them then?
That's what I was wondering and also what I needed answered since I have 2 satellites and a center but all 3 ohm so my avr is a no go but I have 2 2ohm stable amps
Hi guys, pliz explain the right way to connect a sony xplod xm-n502 500watts amp when bridged & what is the right subwoofer mixmam watts to use pliz.
I have a single 12 Dvc audiobahn wired to 2 ohm and then i bridged it at the amp its the Blue 2 channel Hifonics Zues Viii 600 watt i also turned the gained down to a little past halfway is that ok to run like this
What happens to the ohms when you bridge 2 channels to a single output for a subwoofer?Does the ohm of the speaker stay at 4 ohms?
That's a good question and one that none of these guys ever actually says. Holler back if you ever get a response
The manual says:
Channel Assignment Switch • Determines the routing of the input signal for the RCA and IMS inputs.
• LEFT: Sends the input signal from the left input to both amplifier channels, useful if you are bridging the amplifier.
• STEREO: Sends the signals from the left input to the left output channel and the signal from the right input to the right output channel. (This is typical operation mode.)
• RIGHT: Sends the input signal from the right input to both output channels, useful if you are bridging the amplifier.
Reason being is because the 4x10 in the rear of my Tahoe are powered by the head unit and I want a little more power to the speakers?
you can get impedance protective equipment to be then able to bridge what would be 2ohm to 4 or even 8 depending on the system.
How do i find this equipment unless your talking about an impedance matching switch
@@coreyfelsman2363 some speaker selector boxes for example or specific volume controls
Wait so can I bridge my two 6x9 to my 2 Chanel amp that got two Rockford 10 inch running on it and still got a extra Chanel left?can I hook to it
Thanks bro it really helped!
Hi , I have 2, 50 rms coaxial speakers and 1, 125 rms single coil subwoofer, what type of amplifier would be best suited for the job.
I bridged mine and now I'm going the amp fuses like crazy
Hay I have 2 12inch subwoofers connected in Parallel and I’m using a 1000 W amp in bridged mode And every time I try to turn the volume up on my stereo to pass 20 the amp goes in to protect mode I have to keep the stereo under 20 and my amp at 0 ohms to keep it not going into protect mode what could be the problem ?
Okay so if we have say a factory two ohm amplifier and two four ohm speakers can you wire the speakers in parallel for a 2-ohm load and bridge it across the two rear channels
no if you bridge it at 2ohms the amp will see a final load of 1ohm and overheat
I have a cheap punch p4004 i have bridged it sounds ok but I have recently bought tweeters to connect but I can't get sound from tweeters I since bought another set think the first were no good but these also got no sound so I bout another quality tweeters Memphis Audio MJPT25 and those too get no sound whats going on?
*Question* after you bridge the 2 speakers to the 4 channel amplifier how do you connect the rca cables, there are 4 input rca connectors. Thank you.
Get another RCA cable and run from your HU (if it has it)
Most newer radios have 3 sets of RCAs in the back. Front, Rear, and Sub
If it only has 1, get a RCA splitter.
Must have in order to use all 4 channels on the amp.
Sir please tell me 10 inch 2 speaker & 1woofer 12 how to brige
I believe i am correct BUT I am never sure.....
sir i want to used 4 jbl gto 690c with 3 ohms which amplifier i need to buy, thanks and more power to your channel
You can go dor kikker 4 channel amplifier
Thanx a lot
I'm using a two channel and bridging it to double the power. Sub is wired to 2ohm
And it wouldn't be 4 or 2 ohm it would be 8 or 2
Can I bridge the amp and apply some cheese sauce over the terminals? Will that hold the ground in place or cause a fuse to pop?
I have 2 coaxial front door speakers
2 6x9" in rear tray
powering them is a 2ch amp
plz help me with the connections
Wire the door speakers and 6x9's in series......that will make an 8 ohm load to the amp.
question what would wire to 2 ohms 1 d46.5 and 1 d4 ft1 tweeter or 8ohm speaker and tweeter
But then - you see, I already knew what I could DO - with the 300 watt Reactor amp - that I bought for the lowest price possible - at the Warehouse (here in New Zealand)
I also KNEW how to balance the reactances of various wattage / as well as reactance / resistances - of the various speakers, dug out of such things as an old valve radio - some house speakers (8 ohms they were) and others of various numbers, such as 6 ohm sony wall speakers, some 16 ohm AIWA surrounds, and assorted others..
25 speakers.
seven main channels
three subwoofer speakers and a summated (ultra low frequency filtered) vibrator central channel dual 8 ohm speaker set
(being two speakers - one speaker inverted across the other with the two BOLTED together to seal the air inside the diaphragms - of the two speakers)
These were wired - not in series but in reverse series, one driving OUT as the other pulled IN
(& visa versa as the AC audio signal went through it's own inversion state).
Thus the vibrator speaker set - thundered in and out, lifting the van UP then pushing it hard down on it's springs..
Lovely device that was - driven by all seven channels "electrically" summated together as ONE.
I used transformers of course to isolate each of the seven main channels - before summating them all
Be a bit of a buggah it would have been - if all seven channels had been "shorted out" by the vibrator being hard wired to them all.

I was told, I can wire my dual voice coils on seperate channels. (One coil per channel) is this possible?
Oh and I'm only using 1 sub
And I've got the 4 ohm sub bridged
Question if i took my two ten inch kicker comp single coal 4.0ms i ran them parrell n bridged them would it b better to run regular r bridge it .n i hear u say u cant parlell 4oms i have no protection.now im running them bridged as of now parelll.n bridged on amp
If I have a single 4ohm 12 inch kicker comp c subwoofer and a 2 channel 1400 watt amp am I recommended to bridge or no?? Comp c is rated for 600 watts max load. What do I do
bridge it if the amp is 2ohm stable. you can setup the gain/level on the amp to only put out 600w max
Hi. So you said is not possible connect two speakers in one car radio channel. Because car radio has 4ohms. So my car radio has 50w 4ohms and I want to connect two speakers in one radio channel.
Parallel
4 ohms+4 ohms=2 ohms
4ohms+8ohms=2,5 ohms
8 ohms+8 ohms=4 ohms
So if I connect two speakers in parallel 75w 8 ohms
75w 8 ohms
150w 40hms
Good or no?
I have two amps one of my apps needs to be connected to power but the other one doesn't so when I connect a remote wire to the power it's fine but when I connect the other remote to the app it shuts off on both of them what do I do

Can you bridge a 5 amp channel (powerbass asa 1100.5)
Trynna run my highs and sub on same amp. Possible?
Usually a 5 channel amp should do the work but its better to ask a person that knows about this
great for amps that are labled as such.
so i should be able to hook up my little 10 inch woofer not bridged to my 1400 watt amp and just turn down the level and not worry about blowing it? since its not getting less wattage then when its bridged correct?
since its getting less wattage*
My amp does not show a bridge set is it still possible
ohm meters are the best but best to know the law by hand
So if I have a sub wired to 1ohm on a mono 1ohm stable 2 channel amp should I bridge it or no....??? Or do I have to have the sub wired to 2ohms for me to bridge it..?

How to connect 2 4ohms coaxial speaker and a subwoofer to 2 channel amplifier.?
I don't think that's possible because the filter would only allow either voice or mono on the switch of the amp. You'd have to choose one or the other
hey can i stil bridge my amp if there is no bridge indication
if its an a/b amp dont but if its a class d amp it doesnt do anything cuz its a monoblock
I just wired two 4 ohm speakers bridged ( 4 channel amp, 2 channels to one speaker ) an it sounds like crap! Everything is wired correctly but the output sucks! What am i doing wrong?
how to get 600w 2 channel amp with 600w subwoofer please i want to know how to get full 600w for subwoofer
is the sub a dual voice coil or single and is it a 2 or 4 ohms
You can run 4 speakers on a 2 channel amp if it's NOT bridged! the system in my next car will have the front and rear speakers wired in parallel down to 2 ohms per channel.
That's a great idea. And most the time the amp puts out more power @2 ohms. Don't know why I didn't think of that a long time ago. Oh yeah I was a kid lol!
