I promise you this. My reason for saying this is NOT to toot your horn or flatter you, even though I know it probably will. I am saying this because I believe in positive reinforcement towards outstanding effort and skill. And after studying car audio installation here on the TH-cam University(lol) for months now, I have, throughout the course of this video, come to recognize something special(in my humble opinion). What I've noticed, is that you have shown a number of things that sets you apart from the rest of the content creators I've seen delivering the exact same, similar, or related topics and points. I'll just list a few for example. You (again, in my opinion) presented the clearest, most concise and extremely well delivered instructions of any car audio tutorial TH-cam content creator I have seen, to date. You used several methods to ensure clarity. And you did it all in under 10 minutes. That's fricken impressive! These other guys have 20-50min videos explaining your exact topic and still don't deliver it half as clear and understandably as you did. You really are an outstanding teacher! And I don't say this lightly because trust me when I say, if a content creator does a sloppy job editing by not cutting out bloops that cause confusion, doesn't take the time to set up the frame correctly/goes the extra mile to ensure the clear well depicted shot, rambles about meaningless attention seeking topics/jokes, does a really bad job explaining, gives wrong instruction, basically isn't willing to put any extra effort in. I am that guy that calls them out on every specific instance. You literally had one mishap with the wiring that you could have gone back and redone the shot correctly, but that was clearly explained. So is not note worthy I.M.O., and was far overshadowed by your excellent delivery and above and beyond effort. That above and beyond effort really showed in the time you took ensuring you explain your point in various learning styles. That way you ensured someone who might have had trouble understanding the point verbally via spoken direction, might have had a better chance understanding visually via a written/drawn diagram. I thought that showed that you not only have a firm understanding of teaching methods, but also that you have integrity and are passionate about the act of teaching and reaching people intellectually. Too few times will someone comment pointing out a negative about someone, and yet never take the time to praise a positive action. And if anyone deserves that in this niche of car audio, you are certainly one of them! I think you're doing a great thing that is clearly impacting a huge number of viewers judging by the almost 1 million views. So I think that's worth a little appreciation and affirmation. You really are doing something special here. Great job! Keep up the outstanding work there Teach! You have something special when it comes to teaching brotha! Cheers! P.S. Haven’t understood how to do this wiring in any video I’ve watched until yours. Great clear instructions that other people don’t know how to give! Thank you!
From what i've read online, the factory installed speaker wires are perfectly fine for the typical low wattage output comming from the factory installed radio and good for up to 75watts when comming from an aftermarket amplifier, higher wattage output will require thicker gauge wire and rewiring of the speakers throughout the vehicle is a must. FYI on that metra 70-2003 GM harness adapter, i came across one of those for installing an aftermarket radio only in my 2005 gmc sierra truck and the wires arent exactly one to one, speaking only for the speaker wires, if you match all wires color for color, you will get exactly left and right channels as it should be for the front and rear, but the fader channeling is backwards, when fading to the front on the HU, you will get the rears, and vise versa, other than that, its a great adapter.
I have a ddx396. I didnt think it was the bottom of the line in the echelon series. Maybe it is now but years ago it wasn't. I will say that I installed that head unit and kenwood sport speakers (def not the top of the line speakers) and then put a Kicker 10” low profile competition sub and kicker 400 watt amp with remote in my 2005 Ford F150 STX and then moved the system to my 2002 Tundra SR-5 and in both trucks the sound was absolutely wonderful. Hello your video in youtube is the only one that shows how to connect to the amp great video bro. and Thank you. i was not going to pay $550.00 dollars just to put amp in my ride.
This is the very first video where it is explained in detail where both ends of the speedwire goes. It was great how he had the harness' and speedwire laid out on the table for us visual learners,
I had a local audio store here in Indianapolis install a Kenwood head unit, amp and speakers in my 2012 Altima. The place got good reviews but not all of them. When they gave me my car back they told me it "did not start up as easy as it once did." No kidding. When I complained to the owner he blamed it on the battery in the key fob. It wasn't. I was lucky to be able to drive it home. The next morning I drove it to my local Nissan dealer. They found they had drilled a hole into the firewall cutting wires and damaging the computer. I have been out of a car for over a week now while we wait for a car computer on back order. Total bill: $2500. I complained to the car stereo shop and got no response. It's criminal people can do business like this and not be held accountable. Wiring is crucial.
Wow A simple installation These guys make tutorials on the most elaborate and complicated sound systems. I'm not 20 something and I dont care to have everyone within a 5 block radius hear what I'm listening to
Very informative. I have got vw jetta 2008, I got all the wires but I'm not confident if I would be able to pick the right connecting cables lol, I watched atleast 10 videos, this video has made it look like a piece of cake, I would love to update you guys with my progress if you would like.
Thank you so much for this clear, concise explanation!! I was literally so frustrated trying to figure out how to Wire the speakers to the amp and this video explained everything so well thank you 🙏🏼
I'll also add in a hint. Once you are sitting there, scratching your head as to which speaker wire pair (postive/negative) (of the 8 of 9 within the speedwire) you can go to the head unit, push the balance and fader controls to each corner of the car (push fader to the front. And balance to to right to isolate the front right speakers.. This will allow only signal from the front right outputs to play. Use a speaker to test at the harness to confirm which pair of speed wire will match the corresponding "corner" of the harness then connect those 2 wired to the wired on the harness. This should make only rhr front right speakers play. To isolate the other speaker wire leads, move blamce to the left, testing each pair of wires at the harness w a speaker to confirm which ones are for front left, connect them to the wires in the harness for front left speakers. Boom, fronts are done. Now move fader to the rear, keeping balance on left. Use teat speaker at the harness and connect 2 of the 4 remaining wires to test speaker to confirm which 2 will play from back left, then connect those wires to the wires in the harness that correspond to the back left... and then the last pair is the remaining 2 wires for the back right. Hook em up, and you are good to go
Tahoe thank you for simplifying the install from the head unit to the amp and all i have is 2 questions, 1 i posted. 2ndly where do i plug in thebass knob behind my 5 channel amp? Thank you a dozen times for uour greay video!!
ONCE AGAIN A VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO/TUTORIAL; I hesitate to bother you but I have a very "confusing issue; I have had a 4 speaker component speaker system; one of the old crossovers went bad; so I decided to replace the system with an ORION component system with (2) passive crossovers; (6 contact terminals on each crossover; I installed the new speaker with tweeters (high-end heat shrink connectors" for all wires; the system is designed to run thru the JLB 2CHANNEL 1500 WATT AMP: The speakers on the left door work fine-using a test light making contact with each pos.terminal produced a "weak light" but the speakers work; however the right side produces no audio-"NOTHING" no crackle hiss nothing; I disconnected the "right side speaker 6.5" and tested it with a 9-volt battery -pushed out as it should; a test light on the opposite crossover revealed a "very bright light when the probe was "TOUCHED TO THE POSITIVE CONTACTS -"WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE POS&NEG - CONTACTS FOR THE TWEETER?? Why would you have power at the crossover 2way passive crossover system; the POS&NEG WORK FOR THE POWER IN AND THE 6.5" SPEAKER- NO POWER INDICATED AT THE TWEETER-"NO NOTHING; THE CROSSOVER IS GETTING POWER BUT NO AUDIO ON THE right SIDE; I wish I knew more; any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks PATRICK.P
Wow I’ve been looking for a video all over TH-cam on how to wire an amp, Godbless you for doing that diagram at the end and adding the part of wiring direct speakers to amp.

Thank you for the diagram at the end of the video, that’s the way to go!
Wow I’ve been looking for a video all over TH-cam on how to wire an amp, Godbless you for doing that diagram at the end and adding the part of wiring direct speakers to amp.

Best install video I’ve seen . You made it so clear and easily understandable.
I'm going to bypass the head unit completely with a tablet and connect it directly to the amps with a volume switch, and BOOM 💥 my car is fully update with the GPS, WiFi, hotspot, internet, Bluetooth, android play, expandable storage etc you get the idea, I jus need this set up behind it👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
