    I am so happy that you made this video.
    As a car audio installer, I had a couple customers that were unwilling to take my word, even when I showed them the exact demonstration of continuity that you showed, that I had correctly installed their amp. One guy was absolutely convinced that his subs were only getting half the power because he was only using half the amp. I think that at my boss's direction I actually ran a second set of speaker wires to his box just to apease him.
    My MECP advanced certification wouldn't convince these people that I knew what I was talking about, but I bet that a popular TH-cam video that confirmed it would do the trick.

      Use 4-channel home-audio wire, with 4 wires wrapped in a single cover. That way you can use both both connectors on the sub amp, plus whatever gauge fits exactly, times two, is likely thick enough. Your less observant customers will think the 4-stranded wire was specially made for sub amps. 🤣

    There is actually one major advantage to bridge or use both the outputs on the dual that you did not mention, I would always bridge or use both outputs always if possible, why? it is very simple, This speaker block is internally connected on the PCB, if you use one pair you gonna push all load through 2 solder connections instead of 4, I had amps where this load got so high the joints exploded and the amp failed due to overload on these. if you use both outputs you gonna share the load on the terminals making such failure case much less prominent. However this applies more to cases when you load the amp with lower impedance thus making more current. But I had amps fail before I always started to use the terminals with all available outputs. you would actually gain a tiny but more power too as the resistance get slightly lower. I competed in audio a lot before and this is why I know. Every watt counts

    • @xxxYYZxxx
      @xxxYYZxxx ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great point, and 4-channel home audio wire could solve the issue, eg 4 wire. Doubling the wires reduces the total AWG by 3, making it feasible to use a speaker wire (eg, 16 awg) that actually fits instead of trimming or using special tips to fit a monster sized wire, plus both connections get used. The 4-channel wire is better than 2 runs of wire, as the wires are bound into a single cover, minimizing impedance fluctuations.

    • @Pulverrostmannen
      @Pulverrostmannen ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Spacecadet3890 The biggest benefit is that you reduce the load on each terminal since you run less current through each wire and terminal as they split in half you will have more power and less heat produced in the interconnects and wires. But in low power amps it gonna be a pretty small amount.
      I had an amp with more than 1KW power explode the solder joints on the speaker terminal because it was too much current for one single output. So it is just a matter of caring about your stuff but either way you connect is still gonna work unless it can’t handle the power in the long run

    • @TE5LA-GAMING
      @TE5LA-GAMING หลายเดือนก่อน

      Makes no sense. What is "480 voltage"? If you have 5 speakers total, use a 4-channel amp. Wire the 8-Ohm speakers in parallel, 2 to a channel. This gives 4 Ohms. Bridge the other two channels to the 6x9. Set the xover to LP of the 6x9 channels and to HP for the high speakers.

  • @mr740
    @mr740 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So, in theory, lets say you have a 2 ohm single coil woofer with built in wires that are too big for the connectors of the amp you are running ( and probably needs more power than the amplifier can push, but thats beside the point). If one was to machine som adapters that would accomodate those wires and be screwed in to the amp, that would share the load onto the solder points on the PCB? sort of like a Dual 1/0 AWG to 1/0 0 Gauge amp inputs but more fancy to not come into contact with each other?

    • @Avaddon911
      @Avaddon911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some amps that conveniently put the positive terminals on one side, negative terminals on the other. So adding an adapter like this is much easier. But if it's configured like the amp in the video it's going to be hard to do.

    • @TE5LA-GAMING
      @TE5LA-GAMING หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you'll find that most amps simply jumper the extra terminals at the block, rather than run separate wires back to the PCB.

  • @ijonnypro
    @ijonnypro ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So if I have dual outputs on my amp & 2 4ohm subs. Are you saying wiring both separately to 2ohms then connecting both pairs of each subs pos & neg wires to the amp directly will result in a 1ohm final load? Which essentially is wiring them in parallel but through the amp instead?
    Really need this answered. My box’s port is in the middle & I don’t want to drill a hole to wire them together if I don’t have to 😢

    • @kushmade1

      Same I don't know why I can't find this anywhere.

    • @ijonnypro
      @ijonnypro ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kushmade1 I figured out the answer on my own; the answer is yes; you can wire two 4ohm subs individually at 2ohms, then connect them to the amp (if the amp is a monoblock) & the final load will be 1ohm. The speaker out terminals aren't two separate channels, but most monoblock amps offer an extra set of terminals for this exact reason, convenience.
      Hope this helps, man! :)

    • @TE5LA-GAMING
      @TE5LA-GAMING หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ijonnyproYou can't wire a 4 Ohm sub to 2 Ohms unless it has dual voice coils, which you didn't specify. If you're saying wire two single VC 4 Ohm subs together to get 2 Ohms, yes, but it is still 2 Ohms on a mono amp. It would only drop to 1 Ohm on a bridged 2-channel amp.

    • @johnj2496
      @johnj2496 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can
      or do like he was showing and run 2+ and 2- wires to amp so the wire won't limit power but it might not be even a noticeable difference.
      So it's bridged but kinda like 1 dual coil
      Is wired like 2 speakers.
      Either way works. 4 wires would be able to transmit more power
      But if the 1+ 1- and jumper wires aren't limiting ie maxed out
      then there wouldn't really be a benefit to the 2 more just
      It's like the 2 outer tires on a dullay truck
      when there's no load
      sure there's potential but not really needed when it's empty

      It makes no difference where the power is coming from all the subs see are power. Does not matter if it is one amp or two. The only difference it makes is on audio signal. You cannot run 2 different signals to two amps because they would play at different timing. Just run one audio signal to the input on amp one and then use the audio output on amp one to the input on amp two. So the audio signal is linked. Just make sure your amp has an audio output :)

    Can you wire a 2ohm dual voice coil subwoofer at 1ohm to a monoblock amplifier that’s rated for 1ohm or higher or will I need to wire the subwoofer to 4ohm to make it a 2ohm load at the amplifier?

      No such thing as an 8000 watt Power Acoustik. That amp is rated 850 watts. Likely that it doesn't produce half this.

    Great videos. I have a question reguarding this subject. I have 2 12" dvc 2ohm subs. I am going to wire them in series parallel into a 2 ohm amp. My question is do i have to feed one sub from the other in order to end up with 2 phm total load or can i wire both subs to the mono amp? Reason im asking is it will be a lot easier to wire each sub to the amp (single output amp) rather then feeding one sub from.the other as the terminal connections are much smaller. Thanks again . I found this channel looking for info on using a dsp for the first time

    Please correct me if I'm wrong but if you bridge your sub on your amp aren't you getting the true value of the amp? I had a mtx amp that said if you hook up the middle set it's true 750 watts rms. Just left or right set gave 500 watts. I now have a phenox gold amp 1200.1 rms and I have 1-12" rockford p3 at 1 ohm. I do not have it bridged now for break in process but was wondering if I should bridge it to get the true 1200 watts. I know the sub is only rated for 600 watts but it hasn't stopped my 2-10" p3s in my other car. Love your vids too btw very informative 👍

    Speaker wire size is one of my biggest pet peeves. Everybody with 1000w on a pair of 12s seems to think that they need 8 or 10 guage speaker wire! 😣 I know from experience that as long as your using good name brand OFC (SkyHigh✊) you don't need bigger speaker wires. I had no problems at all using 14 guage OFC on a 2000w rms system and when I upgraded to 4 12s on a 5k amp I used 12 guage. Some of these people are running POWER wire to their subwoofers and I'm just like 🤷🤦

      Tap Plastics is a good source, for Cast Cell Acrylic (way easier to work with than plexiglass)
      as well as HDPE (cutting board material, also known as Starboard), for speaker adaptors and amp racks.

    So I was wondering I installed two ten inch 300 watt subs in my jeep, and I am looking to buy a amp to push them. I had bought a loc2 pro controler with AccuBASS but it didn't work (maybe bad part) a regular controler worked just fine. My question is if I went with a amp that had AccuBASS would that get me the bass I want is so what would be the amp I would want to use to push them

    • @aycentroid
      @aycentroid 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If everything else works then I wouldn't be too worried. With 2 failure states, always on or won't turn on, your's is ideal.

    • @umtbozkr2358
      @umtbozkr2358 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aycentroid it works fine, enough clean power. Only for a digital amp it gets quite hot; and heat is wasted energy.
      And one last thing; when the amp is shutting down, in the last second when shutting down it makes the subwoofer make a scratchy sound, like a kind of “backfire” of the voicecoil.

  • @toiam8350

    Because the positives and negatives are connectied does that make a parallel circut inside the amp so if i connect two subs with a 8ohm load each would it be seen as 4 ohms to the amplifier?

      No. You are simply connecting the subs in parallel. This in itself produces 4 Ohms. Nothing to do with the amp. The amp senses 4 Ohms. It has no idea how many speakers are connected, nor does it care.

      2-channel amps aren't monoblock. If you jumpered a 2-channel amp like the thumbnail, you'd fry the amp. If you bridge it, load will be 1/2 what the speakers are wired to.

They're 750w rms 2250w max 12's. Everyone keeps saying i should've got the 4ohms. W/e, its what I have to work with. What amp would you recommend to run the subs at 60-70% of their rms. I don't want to max out the subs, I want them to last. I'm upgrading my vehicles wiring to support more power and will have a farad capacitor. Parallel, positive to positive, negative to negative will result in 1/2 the voice coil rating.
      Series would double the Ohms. Series would be wiring a jumper from one sub's positive to the other sub's negative, then running the two remaining terminals to the amp.
