It's really annoying when you guys keep talking about how disappointed you are because the car is not fast enough? 0-60 in 4.8 seconds isn't fast enough anymore? this is a daily driver car. I recently bought the Luxury 2 and love it. It has plenty of power at speed to pass anyone. I've had no issues, and while I averaged only 8k miles per year on my old Lexus, I've already driven 1000+ in the first month. The cutouts in the trunk enable a golf bag parallel to the bumper. Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s for the feel of gradual acceleration and to help mitigate premature tire tread wear/tear. Heavy vehicles with lots of horsepower (especially EVs thanks to instantaneous torque) tend to go through tires quicker than less powerful/lighter vehicles. The way the Ultium products gradually accelerate to 100% power significantly reduces stress on the tires and even other components on the vehicle.
GM plans to release an OTA with an optional upgrade that gives you velocity driving mode. Which turns this gradual acceleration off as well as unlocks some extra torque

The reality is, except for the Tesla, the Lyriq outsells everything else in its class. The crazy part is *gm* is only just getting production ramped up. I feel it’s only a matter of time before it and the Blazer EV are the best selling EVs.
That explains why they reduced production of the Blazer, and why this isn't being built at the rate they started the Blazer out with. The only People that are buying EVs are the people that just follow the leader, and gay people. Nobody else wants this shit because there's no reason to deal with the unnecessary responsibilities that comes with an EV over just buying 20 on pump 8.......... Try again.
Just an FYI, you can't "brake torque" an EV. Some let you put your foot on the break and release the brake as a form of launch mode but ultimately it isn't doing what it does on a ICE vehicle. Many EVs don't let you do this as a safety measure. Torque doesn't need to build on an EV.
It's funny to me how ALL Car Reviewers now do not even mention Tesla. I assume it's because Tesla's sell themselves? I see 50 Tesla's to every 1 alternate EV, and I'm all about options. Talking about 1-pedal driving... Cadillac being one of the best... yet it's obviously Tesla (the original) who's best at it. Also, Tesla has the best Maps, and best integrated screen/UI speed. The media truly hate people who associate with Trump!
With acces to Tesla Superchargers network this vehicle, slightly used, already depreciated, makes a lots of sence to buy for someone looking for comfort cruising. I would like to watch a comparison with Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV AWD since pricewise they are not too far apart.
Love the way it looks. I will be in the market for a EV SUV in 2026 so hopefully they can get the build quality up to match the price point. If so I would consider it as a possibility.
I still have an issue with having to deal with a car that does not have at least a temporary spare tire (first they shrunk it, now they've gotten rid of it altogether). On the positive side, I'm glad to see it Cadillac as one of the few remaining carmakers to maintain a sunroof that actually still opens for ventilation. That's another thing that seem to be going away with a lot of EVs.
Because of the weight and extra torque of an ev most manufacturers don’t think a donut tire is adequate, and no one includes a full size spare. The glass roof helps heat the car up in cold weather, lessening the need to run the heater and saves range.
This video is 13 hours old as I write this, & the car qualifies for the rebate right now. Great video otherwise & thanks Redline. One thing the car's missing is hud, even the Blazer ev has it, very odd.
Saw one in the central valley of California. In this exact color. Looks nice. Buuuut….its a GM. Sooo…yeah😅 if money was no object and it wasn’t my daily driver. I’d definitely lease one of these.
I want to make it known, I do not care about Frunks. He always mentions people always ask him about frunks. I just want to add my vocal vote to show, some people don't lol Just to let it be known. Who are my fellow Frunk Ignore-ers
I agree. The whining about "frunks" is pathetic. Similar to the whining that it isn't violent enough launching it from 0 - 60 even though this car flies and does it with grace.
The 19.2 kw charger is for level 2. You would need a dedicated 100 amp circuit at home to take advantage of it. Most homes don’t have that much available current.
The 20" wheels are actually a $1,000 deduct - not an extra cost. I know this because that's what I have on my Sport 3. Also, the standard interior on this car is not leather, but a faux leather. The only way to get a leather interior is by upgrading to the Nappa leather package. Super Cruise is not available on all Luxury and Sport models, only the level 2 & 3 variants of each. As a professional reviewer it would be nice if you did a little more homework on the vehicles to provide accurate information.
Be aware I work at a gm service dp and these are coming with alot of issues such as software problems, issues with charging ports, headlight won’t turn on at times and much more
More fear mongering from the *gm* hate campaign. This is an absolutely asinine comment from you but very much expected. Did you think that if you worked for any of *gm’s* competitors that you _wouldn’t_ see software issues amongst other growing pains as production ramps up where things could be improved? Too many are talking as if this is a *gm* thing when that is not the case.

What is the point of torque braking a 0-60mph run with an electric motor under the hood? There is no need for this with an electric motor. It is instantaneous. Only ICE Vehicles benefit from this practice. Just floor the damn thing already !
Not sure why everyone in the comments is ignoring the typical GM fit and finish issues on the interior. Nice materials mean nothing if they aren't screwed together well. This isn't even a preproduction model either! You're really just paying for the looks at this point. Those issues in ANY modern vehicle over 30k should be a dealbreaker imho.
If you got a car after it was taken to the dealer for the Center Tray replacement the dealer may have not properly installed it and that is where you saw the panel alignment issue.
Why go NACS? Everybody on here says Cadillac is the best and no automaker is better. So stick to CCS. Why copy Tesla. Tesla is awful right? No car is better than a Caddy right? So road trip in your Lyriq using your CCS. See how far you get before you want to implode EA.
@@guru2899 NACS is is becoming the standard and should help simplify the charging experience. It is not however relevant to which EV is better (Telsa vs. Cadillac). Can you say "non sequitur"?????

I would be honored for you to use my car in a review and get your honest opinion on the car then! Let me know! Btw! Videos are amazing ! Keep doing what you do here! 😊
Overall it's not bad, but it's also not great. I traded in my Volvo XC60 for a L3 Sport trim Lyriq. The Volvo had the Bowers & Wilkins sound system and it was freakin' amazing. The AKG system really needs work compared to that. If you're listening to XM, you may not notice anything since they compress those significantly. On the other hand, if you listen to higher quality audio, there's a difference and I do think with some eq work, it can be acceptable, but it's not in the same league as the B&W audio system.
Yes. The sound system is a little lacky. I was waiting for the polestar 3 but my rep was telling me that it was going to be delayed to 2025 which I did not want to wait that long but I was really looking forward to that bowers and Wilkins sound system it was suppose to have. Which I had been told was a really good system. Damn Cadillac for not going the extra mile on that. The more and more I drive the car I love it but like soyfan said it’s very cheap in the inside in certain areas for a 80k car. But hey no perfect car. So, what I am going to do is take it to Best Buy and have them tell me what can be done. It needs a sub and it may need a better amp. So we will see!
They are selling. They really just starting hitting dealerships. Ironically we've only had ours for a few weeks and I've only seen two others on the road, but one was exactly the same color and trim as ours and we were next to them at the stop light. :)
Kind of ridiculous when people think 4.8 seconds to 60 for a 6000lb SUV is not fast enough. There's no reason why any typical consumer of this kind of vehicle should be given anything that fast, when traffic deaths are at a very high point
@@JayBunte I agree with the loud sound, it's a speaker system in the front and back. My car does not have one. It has a chirping button. It's also 12 years old never had a problem with pedestrians.
The AKG system certainly needs to be tuned better. It feels too bass-heavy (boomy) and I find myself adjusting the equalizer controls pretty often. My Honda sounds crisper than this AKG system. There are also pretty audible fit and finish related creaks (at low speed) that truly annoy me. Other than that its such a pleasure to drive this beauty! The ride quality is simply the best.

The only People that are buying EVs are the people that just follow the leader, and gay people. Nobody else wants this shit because there's no reason to deal with the unnecessary responsibilities that comes with an EV over just buying 20 on pump 8.......... Try again.
When testing for speed you should've been in sport mode. Can you do a side by side comparison of the Lyriq and the ZDX?
5900 lbs curb weight is mad
What 2 years for this car. Definitely no regrets it's not perfect, but pretty darn close
I see you Cadillac...pushing that Hip Hop Lyriq. 😆
The sport 3 model is so beautiful
With acces to Tesla Superchargers network this vehicle, slightly used, already depreciated, makes a lots of sence to buy for someone looking for comfort cruising.
I would like to watch a comparison with Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV AWD since pricewise they are not too far apart.
The interior door handles are a nod to the interior handles that Cadillacs used to have in the 1950s and 1960s. Nice to see that in the Lyric.
Love the way it looks. I will be in the market for a EV SUV in 2026 so hopefully they can get the build quality up to match the price point. If so I would consider it as a possibility.
This one is reaaaally pretty.
If you brake hard, it damages the ABS control unit and you lose brake assistance. Recall coming.
Amazing car! Looks stunning and the drive is super confortable! wow!
6,000 lb weight is INSANE
Ya and don’t get hit with it.
For a nice sized & spacious EV, not really “insane” for it to be heavy.
Lots of electrons to haul around
That’s pretty common for an ev of this size.
@@Wasabi9111Ioniq 5 is about 4600 lbs. Ioniq 5 N is only 4900 lbs.
Aussie here, unfortunately not available in Australia, but if it was, I'd take this before any German equivalent.
The Cadillac lyric might be one of the best looking vehicles ever made
well done better than the zdx twin
Amazing machine
You'll be a rock star down at the Golden Corral Buffet Early Bird.
Best looking EV hands down….
The starting price is a bargin compared with other luxury SUVs in the class!
Why do they focus on quickness instead of range?
The dual motor awd version gets almost the same mileage as the rwd.
Get rid of all sunroofs
Because of the weight and extra torque of an ev most manufacturers don’t think a donut tire is adequate, and no one includes a full size spare.
The glass roof helps heat the car up in cold weather, lessening the need to run the heater and saves range.
This video is 13 hours old as I write this, & the car qualifies for the rebate right now. Great video otherwise & thanks Redline. One thing the car's missing is hud, even the Blazer ev has it, very odd.
My updated AWD LYRIQ has a range of 332 miles
Saw one in the central valley of California. In this exact color. Looks nice. Buuuut….its a GM. Sooo…yeah😅 if money was no object and it wasn’t my daily driver. I’d definitely lease one of these.
Wow, beautiful car!

I want to make it known, I do not care about Frunks.
He always mentions people always ask him about frunks. I just want to add my vocal vote to show, some people don't lol
Just to let it be known.
Who are my fellow Frunk Ignore-ers
Same here. We do not miss the frunk. The area under the floor in the rear takes place of the frunk. It is the perfect size for 3 grocery bags.
Oh my, This is my only Cadillac EV to afford.
I am sure he meant to say a $1k credit versus $1k up charge! He is a very thorough and knowledgeable auto journalist!
at the 11 min mark when you talk about phone as a key, is that available?
Be aware I work at a gm service dp and these are coming with alot of issues such as software problems, issues with charging ports, headlight won’t turn on at times and much more
More fear mongering from the *gm* hate campaign. This is an absolutely asinine comment from you but very much expected. Did you think that if you worked for any of *gm’s* competitors that you _wouldn’t_ see software issues amongst other growing pains as production ramps up where things could be improved? Too many are talking as if this is a *gm* thing when that is not the case.
@@G-Rated I work on these cars and see more these vehicles than you will ever experience in your life.
My Lyriq was built in December 23 and I have not yet experienced a single flaw.
@@KarenVitale-iu9qk Some cars come from the factory with more issues than others. Your car might not experience any issues at all that’s just how it is
I’ve never been much of a Cadillac fan and this vehicle didn’t help changing my mind. There’s so many more SUVs I’d take over this one.
09:20 but anywhere else in the world they do!
And (for the umpteenth time) you gotta understand that the METRIC system is the one and only ACCURATE measurement system of the world!!!!
Lol no one understands kilometers man, get over it.
Stop being so weird
Exactly. Anything that *gm* does they complain about it.
What is the point of torque braking a 0-60mph run with an electric motor under the hood? There is no need for this with an electric motor. It is instantaneous. Only ICE Vehicles benefit from this practice. Just floor the damn thing already !
What is the point of torque braking a 0-60mph run with an electric motor under the hood? Sofyan loves to bitch about stupid things.
I want one but will have to wait for the used market... the cost new is more than I can do
There’s one that has at least 14 grand off.
@@rgv7 I bought mine (Sport 3 AWD) at $15k discount - 200 miles!
If you got a car after it was taken to the dealer for the Center Tray replacement the dealer may have not properly installed it and that is where you saw the panel alignment issue.
To think the ZDX from Acura shares a platform witn this. Don't know anyone personally who is getting one let alone the main car itself(Lyriq)
When can you review the new traverse
7:35 Do you know if this is moving to NACS? In the near term?
Why go NACS? Everybody on here says Cadillac is the best and no automaker is better. So stick to CCS. Why copy Tesla. Tesla is awful right? No car is better than a Caddy right? So road trip in your Lyriq using your CCS. See how far you get before you want to implode EA.
@@guru2899 NACS is is becoming the standard and should help simplify the charging experience. It is not however relevant to which EV is better (Telsa vs. Cadillac). Can you say "non sequitur"?????
I think the fastest setting will be TC off, sport mode, & auto hold with brake regen.
If you are in an area with bad cellular reception... it will take time to boot up some apps and cause slowdown.
Wow all black looks sick ❤
absolutely beautiful
Hyundai said the same thing about the IONIC 5's rear window.....
ZDX adds HUD, rear wiper and B&O audio. Lyriq and ZDX both qualify for the full credit.
ZDX has air suspension and this does not.
@@blackwhirlwind1245this does not need it. That’s the difference.
@@blackwhirlwind1245 Air suspension sounds nice until you need to fix it. I just had to redo the one on my Mercedes-$5K.
Sat in the lyriq once, like most things on this EV. Except its wagon like styling and missing rear wiper
whatsaa behinda me, its a not important😀
i believe the engineers design a car interior for a person of a certain height, so if you shorter or taller the seat and steering wheel adjustments may not be to you liking
Must was the hubby calling you got so quiet 😂😂
I have a 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury 3.
It's a great car when you're not having any issues with the software.
I've been fortunate.
The interior is E-class grade, but lacks the fit and finish of the newest Mercedes products.
Soyfan.. what were your thoughts on the AKG System? Idk if you would want too but if I get that velocity upgrade would you do another video with my car?
I have yet to see one of these on the road. Are they selling?
They are selling. They really just starting hitting dealerships. Ironically we've only had ours for a few weeks and I've only seen two others on the road, but one was exactly the same color and trim as ours and we were next to them at the stop light. :)
Kind of ridiculous when people think 4.8 seconds to 60 for a 6000lb SUV is not fast enough. There's no reason why any typical consumer of this kind of vehicle should be given anything that fast, when traffic deaths are at a very high point
The pedestrian warning sound that comes on 24 mph or less is insanely loud. Enough to make people pass on purchasing one
Just disable it
@@TheCoffeeField you cannot disable it
@@JayBunteI’m pretty sure a mechanic can do it
@@JayBunte I agree with the loud sound, it's a speaker system in the front and back. My car does not have one. It has a chirping button. It's also 12 years old never had a problem with pedestrians.
Question. If rear wheel drive is 340 HP then can the AWL get 680 HP if they wanted to?
I was under the impression the AKG in the Escalade was best in the automotive industry? Does that not apply here?
No such thing really. Sound quality is always all a matter of taste. Things like audio system can be top rated, however.
@@krane15 I meant best as in quality in the Escalade.
@@Mektare for 60k Canadian. I can see fit and finish issues. Take a look at upper mid tier Benz products they are terrible for plastic on plastic squeaks. That drives me nuts. I still have my 2014 Cadillac ATS bought in 2014. Running like a charm. I'm curious how the Lyric will do in winter temps with the battery
I wasn't impressed with the AKG in my Lyriq initially. But once I got into the audio settings and turned on the surround sound it now sounds amazing.
Bottom line: No Apple Car Play, no Lyriq. Heading for my appointment at my local Genesis dealer this morning.
Isn't this co-engineered with Honda?
GM makes a Honda prologue based on this platform for Honda.
I think this rides on a platform designed by GM and shared with Honda.
