really dumb question here, does the bigger clearish plastic filter you used the wrench on collect the water? and if so do I just tip it all out?

Yes, pretty much the same animal. Primary filter on the motor probably wont have the sensor lead on it, usually no wrench needed. Everything else is almost identical.
