ive been doing osteopathy for my piriformis syndrome and holy mackerel i cant put the feeling in to words.
Hi there, I am circus performer and have been having lower back pain for a while on 1 side. The pain is mostly in my glute next to my tailbone. Nothing in my hips or the front.
I cannot lift my left leg to even 90 degrees without pain (and I’m very flexible). If I have my feet together I can’t touch my toes without pain (which is no issue normally), the pain is only felt on the left side. So if I bend the left knee I have no limitations. It’s also easier to bend fwd with my legs apart. When I flex my feet; my left foot doesn’t flex as strong as my right anymore.
Arching backwards doesn’t seem to cause pain, it’s all the compression/fwd bending motions that cause pain. Or when I try to stretch the left hamstring.
Which of these problems does this sound like to you? And my biggest question is - I’ve been taking painkillers (ibuprofen/tylenol) to be able to perform my shows. With them; I can get to my almost full range of motion with minimal pain. Without them I wouldn’t be able to do it. Is this dangerous? Do I need to 100% stop performing? Or is it okay to use pain killers to get to my range of motion while I maintain doing rehab exercises on the side? Or am I going to make the condition worse? Thank you
In my case the pain strongly radiates to my foot around my big toe along with a feeling of plantar fascitis. I cannot stay seated on most chairs. been dealing with this for about 50 days now. please any advice aside from strengthtening
I had it 3 years ago and the pain was unbearable and I couldn't function at all, and it even kind of paralyzed me with the feeling of needing to go to the bathroom, even moving my right hand was difficult for me because my whole right buttock was occupied and moving my hand in certain movements, especially related to bending over made it hurt even more it went away on its own after exactly 6 weeks and I continued to limp for another two weeks or so, the leg was really hurt by the nerve pain, then everything went back to normal and I forgot about it as if nothing had happened! Now it came back to me two weeks ago but in a milder way, it is getting better little by little.
You forgot to mention wallet syndrome. Basically throughout time your wallet in your backpocket will trick the brain into believing the wallet itself is the piriformis muscle. Thus the muscle itself will slowly start to shrivel up or shrink the muscle until and rapidly expand to compensate thus compressing the sciatic nerve.
Is this real? I was wondering why I only had pain in my right side... Where my wallet is
U are very good
Does piriformis compression also result in pinching like feelings on the side-front of hip bone?
What's the best doctor to go for this ? To diagnose or rule out?
Seek-out an M.D., D.O. -- a Doctor of Osteopathy.
I’m thinking this is what I have but my pain is in the inner-lower part of my butt kind of where the bones are and comes when I lift my leg to the outside. It hurts on both sides and it also hurts when I do a side shuffle or if I have a resistance band and I try to lift my leg to the side. Does anyone know if these symptoms for this?
I went the whole month of may with this pain 😢 worst pain besides labor pains😢😢 B12 help stop it❤🙌🏽
Please expatiate currently going through intense pains
Hello, the pain is out of this world 😩I tired to stretch and exercise nothing helped I started looking up what would help with the Piriformis and it said take b12 and eat read meat I did that and the pain stopped within a half hour I bought it off Amazon
@@essenceblocks2762 wow! Thanks I will try that
Please for how long did you take B12 and Red meat?
Good morning,b12 started working Immediately meaning within a half hour and the read meat is to keep your b12 from depleting from your body.make sure you get liquid b12 it works fast
This exact 💯 what my diagnosis was from the physio specialist.
How often I wonder is this misdiagnosed as sciatica? I was told I have a herniated disc that is causing sciatica, but after research that led me here I’m thinking piriformis syndrome sounds more like the issue than anything. The pain feels like it’s concentrated at the piriformis muscle and then goes down the left leg to the foot and I’ve got numbness on my left foot in different places on my left foot.
The only real relief I’ve been able to get is a visit to the chiropractor…for a few hours.
How common is it to have piriformis syndrome? My physical therapist (a younger guy) says hardly anybody gets it and it's over diagnosed
They say that about many things. Even if it’s only 1 in 100000 how do you know it’s not you? I’ve had 3 “extremely rare” diagnosesd so far. Maybe he is just being lazy.
I have it and know many who have.
ㄷㄷㄷ침착맨은 어디에나있다
This is what I have and I can’t sleep.
How long have you been dealing with it?
@@elmers2005 about a month
@@suel4269 it really messed up my sleep too. I just have been trying to deal with it since last June/july.
Any better so far?
Is it possible to have piriformis syndrome syndrome without buttock pain?
It should hurt in the buttock because the muscle there is tight or inflamed and therefore the pain is radiated to the leg, maybe you should check with a doctor and make sure it's not a herniated disc

After watching 1 million videos I’m thinking that this is what I have. I’m just curious when I lift my right leg. It causes severe pain in my left buttock which is where my pain is emanating from. I can’t find any thing that connects the left and right, but they obviously do.
Probably has something to do with all the ligaments and tendons that connect your sacrum to your pelvis. Anytime you lift your leg, your pelvis twists a little, because it's not just 1 bone but 3 bones... I'm not a doctor but I have the same pain that's my completely uneducated deduction on the matter😅
I also have this exact pain as well. Hoping we both recover soon.
This is exactly what I’m going through lmao
@papasrod @viralylin998 you guys play basketball or any exercises?
@@viralyln998get some b12 it helped me and it works fast it stops the spasms
