    Absolutely loving all these mini Honda reviews, thank you for doing them!!
    I’d defo recommend trying the super cub 125, bit of a wild card , but with bigger wheels they handle like a dream, loads of fun

    Another great review... this is why I watch your channel. Appreciate that you bring the same level of professionalism to every episode. My garage looks a lot like yours, and I normally wouldn't have interest in these mini-bikes, but after hearing the enthusiasm you genuinely have for these bikes, now I'm thinking I might be able to squeeze in a Grom or maybe the Monkey bike :). Thank you for what you do.

    Looks an absolute hoot ,I find these small capacity bikes with the cub type engines always put a smile on my face . You cannot feel miserable riding one ,it doesn’t matter if you look ridiculous as no body knows who you are with a full face helmet on anyway 👍.

      @@whollymindless One of my bikes is a 2004 Honda Innova 125 cc 9 •3 hp ,4 speed auto clutch step thru . It will keep up with most traffic on normal roads with out using full throttle . some lighter riders have seen 70 mph on clock in favourable conditions . These type of bikes are not about speed ,or motorway riding , they are cheap & cheerful fun runabouts & bimbler’s & will cruise at 50 to 55 mph on less than full open throttle & take you anywhere ,& places no large adventure bike ,could hope to get or fit into .

    Nice to seeing you warming to the delights of the Mini bikes as you've progressed through them Andy, I had guessed the Grom would be your favourite, as to the small wheels that is the best part and what sets them apart from other motorcycles, the lively nature that brings is where the joy comes from, in much the same way a classic Mini drives compared to modern cars.

    I see what you mean about a new bike - the knobbly bits were still on the tyres as well as the multi-coloured paint rings. And yet again you have also shown us that you don’t need buckets of money or mahoosive amounts of power to have fun. Great stuff.

    Just did my 6th CBT on one of these. At first I was like omg what is this a joke. Out on the road the light weight about 100kg is definitely noticeable, like not carrying a 25 liter water container around permanently. I was actually very impressed with it. Has abs on the front too. If space was a concern then this would be ideal, like a 50cc scooter size motorcycle. 😎👍

      It would be difficult to make an air cooled fuel efficient 125 that meets euro 5 produce 15 bhp. All the 125’s that come near the 15bhp limit are water cooled. This would take away from the simplicity of design of these mini bikes. There are water cooled 125’s that are over 14bhp if you wanted one and they tend to cost about a grand more. These bikes are not designed just for the U.K. market, as the U.K. market is tiny.

    • @sergentcolon1
      @sergentcolon1 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Morning Andy, loved the last review of the mini bike series. A case of here today, Grom tomorrow!
      I know the Grom has a huge cult following and would make a great little fun bike as would the Dax and Monkey, as you say they are bikes you can have fun on without going silly speeds, though living in Wales where our government is about to impose the 20mph built up speed limit on us without consultation they are capable of silly speeds😳
      Anyway, ride safe.

    • @JDMz

    I cannot believe they’re nearly 10 years old lol. I started riding 8 years ago and these were the bikes used in the school I learnt at. I can’t say the on road section of the training inspired me to get a 125 for my first bike as my school was on a 100km road so that first experience sticking to the side at 78kmh getting passed by traffic going 110 wasn’t exactly confidence inspiring!
    But I do remember them being a lot of fun on the closed course sections of the training!

    As the proud and giddy owner of both a Monkey and Grom, I’m surprised you didn’t prefer the retro-styling of the scrambler-esk Monkey. Ya think ya know a guy. Sheesh. 😆 My son prefers the looks of the Grom too. Grom vs Monkey. Sounds like a social experiment in the making. LOL.
    Had the opportunity to purchase the CT125 aka The Cub. Love the looks and quality build, but instantly disliked the seat, seating position, and heel-toe shifter. Ultimately, it’s about mini-Moto world domination. A little bike for anyone and everyone. Honda wins!

    A bit of trivia: in the parlance of surfers, snowboarders and skateboarders a "Grom" is a youth (usually under the age of 15) that is an enthusiast of surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, etc. which may explain Honda's naming strategy. As an adult, I'd rock a Honda Grom.

  • @markbur1503
    @markbur1503 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great Video as usual. I did consider one of these ,as you rightly pointed out ideal for the motorhome. However i decided that me and the Mrs looked a bit silly together on it.
    Btw, RAF Wycombe ( strategic command now) was Bomber Command in WW2, Bomber Harris used to lodge at West Wycombe house and drive his Bently up to Bomber Command in under 10 minutes (i read). He used to try and beat his record occasionally. Then it became Strike Command, i like you, live not far from it and it will be a target for any WW3. Hopefully i will be vapourised immediatley and know nothing about it.

    I own the Benelli Tornado 125 converted to a mini scrambler, which just makes me laugh when I ride it. I genuinely love these mini bikes and I am teaching my wife to ride on it. Unfortunately I wish I had bought the Honda Grom because of the quality of the dealers, and I would recommend anyone looking at these bikes to buy the Grom. Its worth the difference.

    That colour scheme really suits the Grom, and I like that there's a proper dash on this 125. Honda are knocking it out of the park with their selection of 125cc fun bikes. Surely it's only a matter of time before we see the CT125 on our shores.

    Funny that they still have the same signal lamps that was on my 2014 Grom.
    I was going to buy a CT125 but the Grom makes more sense. Lighter, shift indicator, bigger fuel tank, aftermarket parts. Just going to buy new chain adjusters, top case rack, big block tires, miroirs and yes change those blinkers 😅

    Hi TMF, lovely review! I've loved the groms (well the idea of one) for years. Finally decided to get my license and trying to find a first bike to learn on. I know you touched on it briefly but i'd like to hear a few more of your thoughts if you wouldn't mind. I've just done my CBT and looking for a 125 to get a bit more experience between lessons. I'm 29 so I will be going for my full license in the coming months, all going well. I'm 5'11 and around 11stone. My only concern is if I have a Grom to learn on in between lessons and tests, do you think that would be too much of a difference in size/weight/handling etc. when I do go for my tests on the bigger bikes and also when I eventually come to buy a bigger bike?
    Any input is really appreciated, cheers!

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  ปีที่แล้ว

    What a lovely little bike IMO definitely the nicest of the mini bikes, if it had another 5 or 6bhp I'd be very tempted to get one as a town bike but the 9bhp seems a wee bit anaemic for A roads, nevertheless very well made and seems a bargain.

    some after market company should make a "convert your honda to have the horn / indicators switches in the CORRECT positions" mod.
    As for the Grom, I guess I'm glad it exists. Not everyone is 5 foot 11 inches or taller.
    For me, at 5'11", I just find mini bikes too cramped.
    When I was a learner, I did also find that fuller size 125cc bikes are really underpowered for 16 1/2 stone fatties like me !
    Something like a 350cc Hunter would have probably been fine, I reckon I could have been trusted with one of those as a Learner bike, but well that's not "Da RuleZ" !!

  • @palantir135
    @palantir135 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only suited for small rides and commuting imho.
    Small wheels so every pothole is a danger. No luggage capacity. No weather protection at all. Single cylinder so you have to rev it to get a bit of power.
    It looks cute though.
    350cc is the lower limit for me because you get a normal sized bike to sit on.

    That amazing little engine can be traced right back to the 1960s in various bikes from the c70 to ss50 mopeds and various 125s. I wonder if Honda even know how many have been made? Amazing to think they also make the mighty Gold Wing and my Deauville for that matter.

    I'm about to buy my Minimoto next month, had a 2014 Grom back in 2014.
    Still not sure if I should go for the Grom or the Monkey. The Grom has a lot going for the price, the Monkey is the best looking of the two but it comes at a price. In Canada the Grom sell for 4,800$ and the Monkey goes for 6,130$.
    Is it worth the 1,300$ premium for the Style?
    What is your thoughts between both?

    Hi.. i saw this video so i thought that i should ask you to give me a suggestion. I am a female, weight 51 kg, height 5'2.5". yesterday i learned how to ride a manual bike on CB125F. I was easily handled that bike and i pushed a little too. The weight of this bike is 117 kg.
    One of the man suggested that i should buy a g310r which is 158 kg but the seat height is not bad for me. The other option he mentioned is GSX S125.
    So Don't you think that these above mentioned bikes will be difficult for me to pass my test? I am not very strong. I heard that in bikes tests,examiner will ask me to push the bikes without sitting on it.
    The seat height should be 30 to 31 inches according to my height.
    Please suggest something. 🙏

    Hi, is 'Grom' an acronym for something groovy, or just it's birth 'nym' from Japan?
    If the latter, will they do one that belches out thick black smoke & call it the 'Gru'?
    Prob with small bikes is having to 'lock' them TO something else when parked up, their lightweight flickability makes them very tempting to the armpits of the criminal world too. Having a Rottweiler on the pillion may help, but good-luck getting your 'double-meat-feast' pizza home in one piece, if you did manage it, the dog would likely eat your bike : )
