- I Made A NEW 2 PART Resin PUTTY! AND IT'S RAPID!!... A Video by Daniel Cooper
Here is a Resin Art video where I created a rapid 2 part resin putty/paste, this stuff really is SUPER STRONG!
Again, I am still in experimental testing mode with this but I can see so much potential, not just for resin art but for model makers or even woodwork repairs!
This stuff is crazy hard! What would you use it for? What shall we test for ideas?... Colors?... Mold Making?....Bonding? Let me know! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

This so cool! I could see making fun Christmas ornaments and things, like the old flour or salt "clay" ornaments from back in the day, but these would not crumble into dust after a few years. I'm guessing you can paint on them, too. So many possibilities!
Thanks, yes, these can be painted and then glazed if needed 😊😊😊
Yes was thinking the same thing, I wonder how well paint will take to it as well 🤔🤔
@dawsie It held great during a piece I made after the vid 😊😊
My first thought Christmas tree cos it's lightweight and they would be cat resistant 😺
@@daniel..cooperglazed with what? Regular epoxy resin? Spray of some kind? Wondering if they would have to be glazed to keep…
The first thing that I thought of, was making fairy houses/gardens and adding some glow in the dark powder to make mushrooms and rocks, or whatever you like. Absolutely brilliant Professor Cooper 🤭😄👍😍♥️
Thank you 😊 You do need to be fairly quick but those are all doable 😊😊
100% Agree!!!
Like a girl I follow on Tik tok who uses epoxy clay to make tea pots with scenes with mushrooms, fairy houses and octopuses….
.......and it would be water proof for outside garden props.
@@daniel..cooperooohhh!!!! Try glow powder!!!
I have been on a wire sculpture workshop today. James, our tutor was saying we could use clay to add some detail, ie bird beaks, wing feathers etc. this would be perfect as it wouldn’t need to be fired! You are a genius! So many things it could be used for! Brilliant! 🎉🎉
Thanks Anna 😊 This vid came at the right time for you then 😊😊
@@daniel..cooper sure did!
OMG Daniel. Do you realise you are going to save folks sooooo much money with this idea. You have essentially shared a way of making our own Apoxie Sculp alternative. I've been wanting to try some of the Apoxie Sculp for a while now but didn't like the price lol. So as I already have Polyurethane resin and cornflower, I can now try it.
Thanks for sharing this. Your experiments are always entering to watch. Keep them coming, PLEAS lol.
All the best,
Diane
You could use it as any air-dry clay or Apoxie-Sculpt (which is rather expensive). Any moldable substance that does not require baking. Nice going! I would love to see more experiments with this.
Thank you 😊 Clays are safer but this has the strength factor 100% 😊
Add graphite powder for conductive parts?
Add to UV cure resin for UV cure putty?
Add some lighter fluid or acetone for longer cure times?
Add colours and mica powders for artistic effects?
Add plaster of paris, marble powder, metal powders for different hardness properties?
Add sawdust to make a wood filler?
Add black powder for a big kaboom?
Add salt or other soluble powder to make a more spongy putty?
This would work well with outdoor sculptures I believe! Even concrete will weather, be interesting to see how this would handle UV exposure! And it satisfies my lack of patience issues 🤣 Genius, just genius 💞
Great suggestion! I will test this 😊 Thank you 😊
I was wondering this too. Could you use it as an outdoor filler? Who knows!
@@vickyv2684 I am going to give it a shot and see. I just ordered the resin, 60 oz is a bit much though. Will keep y'all updated 👍
If you have any resin dye, you could color each part a color that mixes to make a 3rd color. Make one red and the other blue, and you'll know they're mixed well enough when you have a consistent purple color.
Great job, sir!
Definitely, I will try colors next time 😊
There a cartoon baby at the start on your mat, next to the experiment your hitting......lol 😆 🤣 😂
Goodness!! Now you’re even an inventor 😮 Your testing of different mediums never ceases to amaze me!!
Giving this another couple of views...thinking out loud +so to speak!). What if...we mixed some cornstarch to just part A or B to make a pourable solution. Say, into a coaster just for easy experimenting. Would it make for a harder coaster than straight polyurethane resin? AND...make the super thick paste bits to create those 3D effects you mentioned! Wonder how hard it would be to color this.... Man, have I got a LOT of questions and ideas running through this old brain box!
Can you add color to one part, (or a different color to each part), so not only does mixing them properly become more certain, but the end result is also colored? 🤔 Very, very interesting stuff!
I wanted to say that too. 👍
I will test that next time 😊😊
I was thinking the same thing. Like how do you know that you have mixed both parts completely? Color would allow for that.
So fun for any small bit or part for miniatures or jewelry. A little shaping or molding and it could be an accessory for a doll or replacement part for a toy. Ornaments, blanks to stamp pictures or letters. And that is before I start playing with it.
This is so true 😊🥰
I love your experimental approach to crafting! I share your excitement and shop your links. Keep the videos coming. You really add innovation to the maker's space.
Thank you so much! 😊
This is what I do to make my relief paste. Not as thick thought. It works with baby powder as well.
Awesome, thanks Sandy 😊
Daniel, you are the most amazing 'Mad Scientist'!!!
Thanks Myla 😊
Another inexpensive way to expand the uses of resin! I'd like to see how various thicknesses hold up. Maybe you could roll out a few samples and then do crack tests, like with a hammer?
I’d be really interested to see if it sands and finishes well because it would be nice for filling voids or holes in things. Also wondering if it will take pigment because coloring part a or b would make it easier to tell when they are fully combined
I 100% agree, that would definitely help 😊 mire to come 😊😊
What a good idea. My son customizes die cast cars and this would work great for changing the shape, adding body parts etc.
Daniel as I have said time and again, You my friend are a GENIUS. There is no sto[pping you! And no I would never want you to stop!! You have just scratched the surface on limitless possiblities!! I await your next thoughts with baited breath! 🤗💕💙
Wow, thanks 😊 I think this one has so much potential 🥰
Oh, this could repair loads of stuff and probably help in model making/3d prints etc. There's always some gap to fill. You could also use it as a hard clay for little details. Oh yes, hollow items! Great idea. I see a Cooper product on the horizon like a milliput! Could it be done with normal epoxy resin? Also watch out, real flour lumps up more than cornflour (which isn't a flour but a starch) so keep a sieve handy lol. Tfs and have a great day 💖
Thank you 😊
This is phenomenal! So many ideas!!! You're genius!! 👏👏👏👏👏💯💯💯💯💯💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
It looks like a short bead cookie. Lol. Don't break a tooth! 😉 I bet you could use this to make molds for silicone inserts. This has also given me a solution just in time to try for a problem project. I am hoping it will strengthen the two part resin I have that changes shape when warmed up. If it works, you have just saved me a ton of money. Thank you. ❤ Now off to the shop to try it. Lol.
I will try using it with silicone soon 😊 Lots more testing is needed 😊
I was thinking models for silicone molds too. Then I thought, maybe not. It looks like this has a matte surface. If so, could you make it shiny without painting or using another product on top?
Great potential here! I like that extended work time!
Oooo..... Buttons! Beads! Bracelets!
I bet you have time to inbed all sorts of fun things before it cures, then bend it into a bracelet. Also, I know you like to make ear rings.
How about the outline for stain glass effect? Dye it black first or paint it after. Would little rolled snakes make a strong frame and outlines for a resin stain glass?
Too many ideas!😊
What about painting the finished item with a thin coat of straight resin? I haven't used the polyurethane yet, but if it is relatively thin it might give the final project a shiney finish. The downside being loosing a bit of the detail. So exciting!
You never cease to amaze me. Your experiments are fantastic. I wish I was that brave to put some of my ideas to the test. Absolutely amazing
Thank you 😊
Makes me want to try it with the black P.U. resin that I use.. I like the let's resin white, but white is just so.... White! lol
Thank you so much for this. My dryer knob broke and now I can recreate it since I have all the materials. No more pliers to turn the knob lol
Love your creative mind!!
Thanks Suzanne 😊
Wow! Make pendants. Put a hole in it to attach to a bale. Or make beads to make a necklace.
Brilliant...the mad professor is at it again 😂 don't know how you come up with these things Daniel 😊
Thanks Linda! 😃
Professor Cooper strikes again with his genius ❤❤
Thank you 😊
Just watched Tracey's video using air dry clay and using it to make inlays. This would even be faster and maybe stronger. Thanks for experiencing and sharing. 😊
Thanks Bob, I haven't seen Tracey's vid yet, will check it out 😊
I'm amazed...the potential is astounding...or is it just my brain? LOL Great work as usual!
Thanks, no, it has sooooo much potential 😊😊
👍👍👍 Tiny modeling? I was thinking about Chinese characters in a necklace. Don’t know if the work time would be long enough. Possibilities are endless though! Thanks!
Thank you 😊 You could always build it up bit by bit 😊
Doll repaint artists might have a field day with this because one could use it for pretty much everything that one might use Apoxy sculpt for. It's way cheaper to make. And, if it weighs less than Apoxy sculpt, that would be super helpful. Also, because it's white, it might take paint and pastels better than some of the darker colored Apoxy sculpts do. I'd be curious how well it bonds to polymer clay and other plastics and epoxys that, for example, BJD's are made out of. Like Monster High dolls and whatnot.
Wow, I hadn't thought of that, I did think of general repairs and woodwork, but not this! I will test bonding soon 😊😊😊
Bids are a polyurathe I think, I used to be in the hobby years ago and did a bit of sculpting and casting. Can Def see uses in doll making or repair
Oké I have to try this, I see endless possibilities 🤩 thanks Daniel for another great idea 😁👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I can see a lot more playing with this one.😅 Can you color it, how will it mold, demod, can you use regular two part....? What a great discovery🤩
More tests to come, epoxy version coming later today 😊
That’s nutty putty 😂 mad clever Daniel 👏👏
😂 thank you 😊
Kind of looks like nutty putty.
Pretty cool Daniel 😎
How do you think of these things? This could be used as a filler for cracks or possibly fix a break in ceramics, etc. 😊
Thanks, yes, it has so much potential 😊😊
Hi Daniel another great video 👏, thanks for sharing all your amazing ideas with us ❤ xx
Fantastic idea. I can already see projects in my future!
You could write/cursive write, words and add the writing ✍️ on things, or just let it dry and make wall hangings with words. Or make flat coasters or such, and carve words in them too!!
Love it! 🥰
You are a talented and amazing person, you come up with crazy and amazing things. I admire your work. I wish you health and prosperity. Thank you for sharing your discoveries.
Thank you 😊 You too 😊
wow !!! I have so many ideas right now
My brain hasn't stopped spitting out ideas since watching this morning!
Me too 😊😊😊
That was wicked. So many possibilities. How about using cement? Not really necessary - other than the fact that cornstarch is organic, if that’s even a concern. Any fine non-organic powder, really. Damn. Thanks for yet another thing to keep me awake at night.
I definitely will be attempting this, as I have created something for my son back when he was obsessed with Harry Potter! The stuff I had was "Mightypuddy". My son had a small purple handle pen that lit up with uv down a flexible tube. I attached it to a crooked stick, wrapped the wire around, covering all parts with the white puddy. This created branch effect, and I made sure not to cover the battery compartment. I'd painted the pen, once solid, in shades of branchy brown, then presented it to him before bed😂....he's 25 and on his own now, but he still has that light up wand, stored somewhere, but he was so thrilled and impressed ❤!😊
Daniel, if there was a resin hall of fame, a statue of you would be erected at the entrance!
😂 hopefully made out of resin 😉😂
@@daniel..cooper LOL!!!
Absolutely
You’ve done it again!🎉
Thanks Denise 😊😊😊
This has been a fantastic learning experience. Will be an excellent medium for a future major project i am working on, that requires high impact strength. Definitely worth running some trials. Thank you for sharing this experiment!
can you add the starlite formula (corn powder, school glue like Elmer's, and baking soda) to both Polyurethane Resin A and Resin B, then form them together into a solid block? This way, it will be fireproof and heat-resistant Starlite block 😄
Another brilliant idea from Daniel. ❤
Christmas decorations would be good. Would you paint tem or club as you go? Hmm got me thinking!! 🥰
Meant to say colour not club!!!
Woodworkers use epoxy resin to fill gaps in wood. They use two parts; one is colored. You mix the two parts together until they are one uniform color. That is the indication that it is mixed sufficiently. That might be an idea for your product.
Thanks, yes, I just wanted to keep mine clear for the 1st experiment 😊😊😊
Thank you so much Daniel
You are very welcome 😊
🧙♂Are you a wizard ?!?! So many possibilities ......... I have to say though your measure was 1/4 of a teaspoon not tablespoon, my asd kicking in there! can't wait for the next episode in your experiments - I say episode because its so much more interesting than the telly 😀
Thanks 😊 yep, I messed up 😂🤣
Just got some polyurethane resin last week, to play around with and try out. So now I'm heading off to my art room and give quick try. I'll be back in flash... 45 min later: It worked although I'm using Alumilite and it cures about 10 mins with the liquid form. The putty took about 10 min work time and about 15/20 mins to harderend even though I had paste close to yours, the putty was a little sticky. Tomorrow I'm gonna try Durhams water putty, mixed with the Alumilite, maybethe putty surface will be smoother than the corn starch was. I gotta say that the curing time with PU in liquid form is brutal ! I mixed it 2 mins flat and poured it about 3 mins and was turning white and stiff like boom. A bit of a learning curve me thinks.
Wow, so glad it worked, your longer work time actually sounds better than how fast mine cured! Well done 😊 I would prefer a slightly longer work time.
Wowowowowow!1 Dan you are a superstar. You mind works so so cleverly. X
Thanks Michelle 😊
The huge surface area of cornstarch can absorb water. Water makes PU resin foam up. Should work with other things like paint or pigment powder.
Color testing to come soon 😊😊
I have some absolutely tiny molds, which I make a blooming mess trying to put resin in, this putty would be soooo much easier to use and push into, then I can paint them after they cure and demold! This is amazing Daniel!
I could see this being a much more cost efficient version of the epoxy sculpt stuff and for adding on to resin pieces with designs n textures!
Omg or custom backings for nifty cabochons!
The possibilities are pretty endless 😊😊😊
Forgot to say I really like those containers you have. The pop on part PLUS the screw on part. Love those
Thanks, I got these for the uv dipping 😊
Whoa, very interesting.
Thanks Doreen 😊
Very cool. Maybe add a dot of color to one, so you can tell when it’s mixed together.
Amazing love your videos.
This! This truly is incredible! The big wigs may start coming for you lol, for coming up with and sharing such affordable, fantastic ideas with us 😉
Thank you ❤
Thank you so much!! 😊
quick and cheap bondo for automotive use can be color tinted on the fly.
100% 😊😊
i can see this as a molded putty too. Press into a mold with colored powders, be a cool method to try next
Thanks, yes, more to try 😊😊
Wow, it's really fun. I'll definitely try it
Thanks 😊
Pretty cool Daniel!
Thank you 😊
I've done something similar with plaster of paris, and it turns out like stone. Rock solid. Only downside was it turned a grayish colour. Definitely going to try this.
Oh no, did you use polyurethane resin?
@@daniel..cooper no, I used epoxy resin.
@EyupSureThang it's a completely different form of resin, it's in its own category, here's a vid which will definitely help 😊 m.th-cam.com/video/kTxr4Z4mwj0/w-d-xo.html
That is really interesting. There are so many things you could make with that! Thank you for all of your experiments!
You could make buttons!!! Love this. Can u use regular epoxy resin?
Yes you can! I will make an epoxy version soon 😊
Your pretty darn amazing your definitely on to something. I love your experiments I did the uv in soap the other day to make resin balls.
Thank you! 😊
This is so interesting. Theoretically you could use it for furniture repair, tool repairs, say if the handle of my favorite shovel cracked ... I would be able to fix it and get back to work in minutes ... that's if it bonds with wood. BTW, love those little black storage containers.
Yes Anita, this would be a great product for repairs 😊😊
Yet again amazing🎉🎉
Thanks Tracey 😊
Maybe use cutters as in kitchen pastry cutters and colour it to make Christmas decorations
I would try it in restorative projects. Prove adhesión of colours, or even mixing in some tinture
Great idea! 🥰
This is basically a homemade version of Epoxy Sculpt except it's white instead of grey and I think it cures faster. 😮 In theory, it could be used exactly the same way as ES, as long as you work fast. 🤔 I'm thinking it could even be used for sink repair like ES often is, with less work in concealing the color difference later, lol. I'm more likely to use this for jewelry and mini sculptures though. Perhaps Christmas tree ornaments for my table top tree that's hard to get new ornaments for. 😅
I'm thinking it could also be good for large molds that you want to leave hollow to reduce weight and use less resin. I mean, if you roll it out into sheets and essentially create premade hollow boxes with it, you can easily insert them into a project or create a custom box for each project since it sets so quickly. Or if you have different sizes of the same mold you can use the smaller one to make a hollow insert for the bigger one. For example, your usual mold for testing has three sizes of hearts so if you rolled this out into a sheet and put it into the smallest one, trimmed it a bit under the rim and let it cure then put another flat sheet on top to create a hollow heart, you could later paint it and insert that into the medium or large heart shape that you used regular resin in. I mean, you probably wouldn't actually do that since those molds are pretty small but it's just an example, lol. 😁👍
Thanks, I haven't tried ES so I can't really compare but yes, in theory it has the strength 😊 Great ideas, love these! 😍🤩
love your channel!
That should do well in push molds. Also perhaps making fake rocks for terrariums/reptile enclosures.
Wow so effin cool 😎 😍
Thanks Mandi 😊
What about putting it in silicone molds? wouldn't have to worry about breaking jewelry or coasters, etc... Thank you for all you do!
Yes you can! 😊😊
Very cool idea wonder what would happen if was pressed into a mold
More to come 😊😊
Use a drop of dye to one of them, that way you'll know when its fully mixed together :)
Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, biscuit please. 😊 love your experiments.
😂😂😂 thank you 😊
This is the most exciting experiment I’ve seen in a long time, I literally cannot wait to see some more videos with this, it would be great to try this with steampunk bottle art
Absolutely genius Daniel
Thanks Amanda 😊 yes, this one is super exciting 😀
You a brilliant!!♡
Thanks 😊
Outstanding
Thanks you 😊
Very fascinating!
Thank you 😊
Love it!!! 🙂
Thank you 😊
Thank you :)
😊 I am absolutely in love with your experiments, they have been immensely helpful as i dip my toe into the world of resin crafting.
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
Oh this is brilliant. I can see so many things I can make with this idea. Love your work Daniel
Thanks so much 😊
Interesting experiment.
Thanks Andrew, will definitely be more interesting soon 😉😊
Maybe mold it into a pendant tray, and treat it like bone and etch into like scrimshaw.
Would make a great practice medium if that worked
Love this idea! 😊
Genius Daniel, I always admire your videos but this time i have no words. You are too good at your work. Thanks. Just wanted to ask will it work for epoxy resin too.
Wow, thank you! 😊 Epoxy vid coming later 😊
I wonder how it would work along with polymer clay like fimo etc. I make miniatures with polymer clay things for dolls houses etc, some things are so tiny I would need something really hard to stop it breaking!!! Could be a thing to try when I’ve got some money lol
hugs x Ann x
Your brain is Incredible, this is brilliant ❤
Thanks as always Pamela 😊
Great experiment Daniel! This opened up so many possibilities ❤ You know you're awesome!
Thank you! 😊
The weird and wonderful world of Mr Cooper!😅❤
Thanks 😊
Super Exciting ❣️ I’m wondering if this could be painted.?.
Thanks Deb, yes, can be painted 😊
