Guys, I just remembered an idea I forgot to mention! Once you have made the design on the flat sheet, you can use a heat gun on fresh sticks (cut down) and create a dam on the sheet before dusting.... then you have a mold! 🤩
Bearing in mind the cost of this stuff (I'm all about the cost lol) I think using hot glue rather than the resin clay would be way more cost effective to make a dam, ...huh..wait can you make inlays with hot glue? I need to try that! x
This is an incredible video. I’ve said it before and I will say it 1,000 more times; I LOVE your experiments! There is so much packed into this video and I love your enthusiasm 😊 “you can do this, you can do that, OR… you can do this”. Loving all the ideas!
The crisp lines are a winner for me, my pet hate fuzzy lines. I coloured the art work (not resin) for my sons wedding with plastic toothpicks and could carve them down to the finest point, I was so excited cos of the sharp lines 🤣🤣
Did you know you could lay your stencil across the back of your mold and it will peel right off? It does even better if you rub it down in 100% silicone oil but it will definitely leave the design on your cured UV resin piece either way. But this is still ingenious Daniel temporary inlays (like a temporary tattoo 😂 which I'd love to see you incorporate in a piece) and doing the stenciled area in black was awesome it really made that interference green pop!! Loved this!! Great work as always ❤❤❤❤🤗
@@daniel..cooper i knew you compared it to a stenciled piece you had done but hadnt seen that video so that was my mistake but still good info for those who dont know about it 😁 I'm still very curious about this heat and form stuff is their a way you can tell us how many sticks of each color you get and the price point?? Hey Daniel! Bear paw? Nooo it's a dog paw lol I don't do coasters and the like, but I can see the potential in jewellery making, awesome video, imaginative and creative, love it. I wish I had more time in the day lol x
LOL, I just started playing with the Thermaplastic beads as well and was using this same technique last week and using a rolling pin and my Cuttlebug folders and impressions stamps and dies and rubber stamps, anything I could get my hands on. This method you are using takes it to another level!!!! Thanks you Daniel, you are amazing!!!
So glad I have google search where you can use a picture. I had to find out what that was cuz I couldn’t find resin clay. Anywhere. It’s called Oyumaru. Reusable molding material also called thermoplastic. I happen to have a good bit of those beads from kits for trying to mold teeth but it’s the same thing. I’m so excited
Thank you for making resin crafting accessible, affordable, and exciting! Im on a fixed income and have to plan accordingly when I want to save up for a craft. You keep throwing game changers at us that make it possible for someone like me to be creative on a budget. Im almost there with the funds for my next round of resin art and Im so excited to try the remoldable molding material!🥰🤩 If you are taking suggestions, I would love to see a resin pour with layered multicolor GlowInDark pigments for a spooky 3D depth. Kind of wispy, ethereal threads through the layers. is that even possible?
So very welcome 😁 I'm just glad the content helps 😁 I would never say no to trying new things but I'm not sure when I would get round to trying it 😁😁 I will try and fit it into my list 🥰
Stop it! 😂 No, really, don't! I totally get how it's "all over the place," as you said, because my mind is totally spinning with the things I want to try now! Just need to order that stuff! I said it before, but thank you for experimenting along with us! So many videos only show you when everything goes perfectly, then we try it, and it all goes wrong! Thanks for letting us see you kinda figuring it out as you go. Oh, a doily or piece of lace would make a pretty pattern! Ok, off to Amazon I go! 😂
Hello Daniel! Great video. You're excitement and creativity are infectious. And, yes this video was a bit all over the place. But, that is just how it is sometimes when you get in that zone and every creative atom in your body are all firing off ideas at the same time. And, saying "wait, can you hold that thought?" to yourself simply isn't an option. Anyone who has an ounce of creativity in their soul knows exactly how that feels.. I did my very first swipe and wipe technique today and it turned out pretty good. and I can definitely see how this new variation you have discovered really does make the possibilities infinite in number. Thanks for another great video and fuel for my own creative fire. Blessings.
Thanks so much 😁 Both great techniques in their own way but I think I prefer the concept of this one as their is no waste from lotion or vaseline. Glad you are trying it Kat 🥰
Wow Daniel!!! Love this. Your attention to detail.... I'm a doll house miniature artist. I love tiny. It may be my mini mind! Lol I see everything in miniature. Maybe I was a fairy in a past life. Hahaha 😊
OOOH, Daniel! BRILLIANT! 😘💕👍 I enjoy the "detail work" myself, as it's...therapeutic, as you say. 😊 For me, it's calming to the brain. LOVE the effects the embossing and black filled-in areas, gives. Reverse bas relief? *GORGEOUS!*
Huh... Interesting ideas! Maybe if you keep a mini stainless steel rolling pin around and put it in the hot water with the plastic stuff, you could work on getting the sheet more perfectly flat without needing to rush as much? 🤔 Personally, I think it might actually be easier to use that colored UV resin that you did that textured, stringy look with to work with the stencils (pull up the stencil and then cure and leave as-is or add color on top) but this stuff would definitely be best with the molds for inlays. 😉👍
I am definitely going to try this out!! This made my day! I have been just racking my mind on how to achieve this effect... and YOU have done it! Thanks again!
Hello Daniel! Just lying in bed quite ill and you popped up on you-tube! Thouraghly enjoyed your toutorial and am moving on a bit to see what else you have been up too. It would probably depend on what colorant you were using. But, basically, you'd just need to coat the piece with something it won't stick to, blob on your color, and wipe off the excess. I'm not to the point yet with resin where I'm able to try it myself, but it might be an interesting thing for you or someone to experiment with. Just seemed like such a similar task that I think a similar approach could make sense.

Hi Daniel. Another very cool idea! When you were showing your swipe and wipe examples at the beginning, I had a thought... I do leathercraft and the need to get color into your inset areas seems similar to when I need to color carving or engraving on leather. To do this on leather, you use what's called a "resist". It's typically an acrylic topcoat of some kind. You apply a couple coats, let it dry, and the apply antique stain. It will only stay in the carved / recessed areas and the excess just wipes off. So, for example, I recently made blue marble-dyed leather with gold colored carving this way. I wonder if you could do something similar to fill those recessed areas in resin? It would probably depend on what colorant you were using. But, basically, you'd just need to coat the piece with something it won't stick to, blob on your color, and wipe off the excess. I'm not to the point yet with resin where I'm able to try it myself, but it might be an interesting thing for you or someone to experiment with. @@robyncheri705it does release, just like a silicone inlay.
I add pigment colours to my gel medium, it works
