  • Bass anglers face a common problem when it comes to bass fishing - how to get to those super finicky bass that will only bite an ultra finesse presentation such as a wacky rig. Those bass are tucked far beneath flooded cover and a regular wacky rig just won't get the job done! Enter the Waco rig: A presentation that's as weedless as a Texas rig but has all the action of a wacky rig! Those bass don't stand a chance!

    Do you have a favorite wacky rig trick to get those tough bites?

    Very nice! I could have used that last week for sure. Will have to give that a go!

      It's a simple idea that works very well. I caught another pile of fish on it again today. Like you showed in your video how far back those bass are, that's where I am trying to fish most times.

    I don't fish a wacky all that much. But after seeing this, I probably will do it more.

    Your presentations are very informative and I appreciate that your are not associated to anyone and can give totally unbiased information. Can't believe your subscribers are not higher. One question. When you say to use a small EWG on the waco rig, how small is small? Best wishes

      I usually go as small as I can: 1/0 light wire EWG. Worm hooks don't work as well.

    Fished the Waco and Wacky rig for the first time today after watching your videos on how to rig them. Caught them on the rock points in 1 to 5 ft of water. Thank you for the lessons put 10 in the boat 13 to 14.5 inchers.

    My wacky rig "trick" is using Gary Yamamoto Senkos. I absolutely love the fall rate! Caught many, many bass on a GYB.

    Maybe this should be called The LowBrow Rig?
    Definitely trying this mod!

      I'm glad you liked it! The viewers were calling the swimjig I fished skirtless the Lowbrow rig last year. I call this the Waco rig after the city of Waco, Texas which sounds like wacky. But the rig is still essentially a Texas rig mostly.

      I'm gonna also try this central nail technique w/ the floating Z-Man trick worm.
      Thx for the inspiration.!

    Could you tell me what a really small AWG fishing hook is. It would be nice to know the side number one, one ought, two ought. I like the idea, and I'm very anxious to try it. Thank you so much for sharing.

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With EWG hooks and Worm hooks, the lower numbers are smaller hooks. A size 1 is the smallest. A 1/0 and 2/0 are the next sizes up but also still small. For the Waco rig, I use a 1/0 or a size 1 EWG hook.

    What colors would you recomend?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like to keep things simple - Junebug is my go-to or black/blue flake. Green pumpkin or something natural like that is a good one to have as well.

    Does this work with a bigger worm or just those smaller 4 inch worms?

    • @LowBrowFishing
      @LowBrowFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've used it with 4 or 5 inch worms. I've also used trick worms and Creme scoundrels and they worked great as well.

    Nice fish? Those are dinks. Not that anything is wrong with that.
