    I'm curious what you all think about the 120FPS camera capture (but then TH-cam obviously degrades it to 60FPS when you watch it). There really is no good way to show what the actual experience is like in a TH-cam video, but I thought I'd try this out for this one and see how it went.

    Thanks to Mr. Daniel for his analysis, I would like to add the key points of my personal use these days. The correct way to use fsr3 is to select vertical synchronization for the display card driver, and select the monitor refresh rate minus 3 for the highest frame rate (144-3=141, 60-3=57). At the same time, it is very important to turn off vertical synchronization in the game.

      In my tests with Forspoken on a 4090 it _only_ was smooth when forcing Vsync (which I did via Nvidia Control Panel), setting the in-game frame limiter to 120 (with is my display's maximum), _and_ actually hitting 120 fps. Below 120 the incompatibility with G-Sync introduced bad frame pacing on the presentation side (forcing the screen to display some frames twice in order to somehow squeeze the 80 or 90 fps into is 120 Hz refresh), while with the in-game frame limiter set to 240 (it tends to reset itself after switching to DLSS and back to FSR) RTSS still reported stable 120 fps, but movement in the game became super choppy.

      What also fixed it for me, on a RTX 2070 Super, was turning on V-sync in game and disabling the variable refresh rate through my monitors controls. I kind of think VRR is not disabled automatically or it still causes issues if not forced off in my monitor settings.

      I have tested FSR3 Frame Gen in Forspoken myself and from my testing I found out that you 1. NEED to cap your FPS with RTSS or any other frame cap software to 1-3 FPS below your monitors max refresh rate. 2. You NEED to maintain the FPS framecap at all times while at the same time having a few % headroom. Meaning, make sure you dont max your GPU utilization at 100%. Try it again in Forspoken and you will notice the difference. Its way more responsive and smooth if you follow my suggestions.
      Example: 1. Your monitors refresh rate = 120Hz
      2. Set up a FPS cap between 116 and 119 FPS
      3. Change your graphic settings so that you can easily maintain the FPS cap which you set up in Step 2.
      4. Make sure your GPU is BELOW 100% utilization AT ALL TIMES while reaching your FPS cap you set up in Step 2.
      5. If your FPS drops below your FPS cap you set up in Step 2, it introduces higher latency and it doesnt feel smooth anymore
      6. Specifically in Forspoken, change the refresh rate in the display settings menu to 120, not 240
      7. Dont use the ingame Vsync, force Vsync via driver or use the tool Special K to fix frame pacing issues
      8. Now you can enjoy buttery smooth and super responsive gameplay
      There is a problem with Frame Gen / Vsync if you hit your monitors max refresh rate without the FPS limit. I dont know why it happens.

    First of all, thank you for the work with the many videos directly for the release of FSR3 😌👍🏻 And thanks again because someone finally seems to have understood what this feature is actually intended for ❗It's actually just supposed to close the gap to the maximum refresh rate of the monitor. If the existing hardware already provides a relatively high FPS number, but it is still not quite enough. FSR 3 with FG is then used to convey the smoothest possible gaming experience 😌 it is just used incorrectly in marketing 😉 in the case of DLSS 3 and above to emphasize the purchase argument of the particular company with a green logo. Basically to convince the mentally weak to spend more on something than it's worth 😋 hello Ngreedia 😏 Jen Hsun Huang 's real slogan is not "buy more save more" it's " give them less and sell it to them for way more" 🤷‍♂️ and they follow anyway 🤦‍♂️btw i didnt notice the thing you mentioned with Forspoken i tried it with my RX 6950XT on a LG34GN850P-B Ultrawide and FSR3 worked as it should 🤔 i will go back today an try it out again.

    Your Forspoken experience mirrors mine. Initially I'm not sure whether it was just my setup using 60Hz display that cause it (especially since the game doesn't have 60FPS cap when FG is on) but maybe it wasn't my setup. What I felt was that the smoothness was similar to when FG is off, so in this case I think there is something wrong with the frame pacing and hopefully they can fix it soon.

    • @Whiteshade
      @Whiteshade ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes same, I thought it was because of my 60hz display. 40fps feels smoother than 60fps.

    • @jotunheim5302
      @jotunheim5302 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need 60fps as your base when using Frame Generation. If you enable FG below that threshold you'll experience excessive lag, artifacts a lot more than you normally would.

    • @RurouTube
      @RurouTube ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jotunheim5302 I know about that, but that is not the point. The point is that it doesn't feel smoother. For example, when I ran Forspoken without FG, I can get around 40FPS. When I enable FG, because there is a bit of overhead, it doesn't do 40FPS to 80FPS but to 60FPS, which is fine and expected. What is not expected is that 40FPS looks smoother than 60FPS, so there is an issue there.
      Personally I just want to test it simply because I want to know how bad it is when targeting 60FPS using FG. Yes, I know the potential image artifact can be more easily spotted, which is why I actually want to do it. I want to see how much I can spot the artifact and how low I can go with the base frame rate before the artifact becomes really bad. If it ended up still actually looks fine for 60FPS end result, I might actually use FSR3 depending on the game. A game that doesn't require fast reaction should be fine. Again, it hinges on whether I can actually spot the artifact, which right now I can't do because I don't think it work correctly in Forspoken, at least on my PC and it seems Daniel also experiencing something similar in Forspoken even on a high frame rate display.

AMD has taken longer than expected to offer FSR3 and were quiet about it until very recently and this is a beta release afaik. The press was given some details only a month ago. I don't know if they were allowed a first test or not. Owen is doing good bringing his opinions and showing what it does, but it's not as detailed as other testers are going to do as far as picking it apart with screen captures and other performance metrics and then putting that all together in a highly edited video presentation. I'm sure there will be several other reviews this coming week.

    People are saying that if you activate the frame limiter within Rivia Tuner, the frame time and fluidity within the game will be back to normal, smooth. Just set about 10 fps less than the average after you have configured it the way you like. So for example if in the native it was giving 40 fps and with the fsr3 and frame generator it goes to 120, you go to Rivia Tuner and limits it to 100 or 110, or to your monitor fps, which will cancel out this lack of fluidity that you are feeling.

    I think a hybrid approach to capture would be best. A camera has a softer and more natural feel, where the frames naturally blend a little bit more together, but capturing clean gameplay at 120 Hz and then slowing it down to 60 Hz would show us the imperfections more clearly. Even if it's not really representative of the real experience, it should work when comparing FSR to DLSS, because they're both equally disadvantaged.

    One thing I just noticed is that forspoken's Fullscreen and borderless screen mods actually make the FG look even worse than native as you mentioned.
    I tried switching the screen mode to Windowed option in the display settings and then revert back to borderless and it smoothed the game. Jutters occur far less than before. I couldn't feel 60fps before but somehow by switching between screen mods the smoothness of the game and frames seem to change.
    So I guess the developers can easily address this issue.
