    Planning to build a Quadcopter, really enjoyed the video, thank you, it has given me a lot to think about.

      Thanks for the nice comment!

    You are the first one to notice that! You paid close attention. Yeah, I had to change the props and also the connectors of two of the ESC to the motors. Maybe I should make an annotation to the vid for first time builders as I was. Luckily, I made an initial test flight before jumping in the air with the Disco.

    Vielen Dank. Cheers

    Thx, Pablo! I already have fun:-) The RF tin shield is for my later upgrade to UHF (433Mhz) and 2.4Ghz VTx, but for now, it's a good start with 5.8Ghz VTx. This is why I have not included the tin shield in the build. But you have paid good attention:-)

    I have dozens of flights on my Disco by now but did not have any issues with the TBS ESC. The Turnigy plush 30amps is a good alternative imo. The core is good if you want a simple and clean solution with only the most important information in your goggles. OSD on a quad is normally difficult to mount as there is no space available for a clean installation. But I think that the core works quite well and is hassle free. Would not want it for a plane though.

    It is quite some time ago and it depends what equipment you already have. It is around US 1500 - 2000

    I use 3300 and 4000mAh, all 4C with the 750kv. Flight time with the 9x5 Graupners and on a normal flight with some hovering and some speedy parts is with a good 3300 battery around 8 minutes and with the Zippy 4000 around 10-11 minutes. However, if you use the 10x5 Graupners, the flight time increases. The reason why I use the 9x5 is because it makes the quad more responsive and more locked-in. With a 920kv motor, I would use a 4000mAh 4C battery and the 10x5 Graupners. I hope this helps.

    Hey Zwyser, love your vid ( sweet music) wondering if you could help me with wiring the RSSI, I noticed you soldering the wires on but where does it connect to? and what type of connection are you using? cheers :)

    thank a lot you have been very helpful I will be looking forward to see your new builds I have five quads if my own , I will let you know when I start fpv I still need to get the tbs core for my discovery

    What size of props are they? also i notice the Naza wiring diagram,and you have a Discovery layout,where do you get a copy of the Discovery layout?
    Thanks for putting this together,it will help when i get round to building mine

    Nice job on the video, fast forward makes the build look pretty easy don't it! Just got mine from Raphael and currently upgrading from the DJI 450. One thing I didn't anticipate was battery set up, I noticed your 4.0 and 3.3 Zippy's, are those 4C or 3C? How has the flight time performed based on the 750kv's? I have the stock 920's and pulling 3C 2.2's and am curious to pursue my next steps with the larger frame. Kind thanks for the response in advance.

    @Solder53flyer: The quality of the arms are all the same, the only difference is the color itself. for better orientation it is helpful if you put different colors on the front and the rear

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks! You just connect it to your last channel of the RC receiver just like the other channels such as throttle, roll etc. I use a standardbservo wire and have it on channel 8. Hovever, it does not work with a Spektrum receiver as the give a different RSSI signal. Google it and you will find help on RCGroups I think.

    got all my parts came in this week... now i need a full day to build and tune... theres a rumour that the TBS ESC are a waste of time so i ordered the Turnigy plush 30amp ones...hope you can confirm if its true or not... and is the TBS core worth buying?

    I would like to know which kit you have bought. The discovery pro ?

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the Zippy 4s 3300mAh with 35c which is enough and the Zippy 4s 4000mAh with 25c. 25c is the minimum you need and it works. The battery gets a bit warm while running but I did not run into any issues and I use the 4000 a lot. So yes, enough discharge rate I would say and the quality seems to be good.

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    The prop size is in the videos description but most go with the 10x5". The wiring diagram is from a wiki. I have included the link in the video description, but I did not need it. Just watch the official build video and mine of course:-) and you are good to go...

    I also want to know . what flight times are you getting . and do you know how much Amps your pulling from your motors

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have now switched from the TBS 750kv to the 900kv motors. Flight times are similar but with much more power. I use 3300mAh up to 4000mAh batteries and I am getting 8-12min flight time, depending on the battery and flying style. I do not know how much Amps I am pulling dough

    Absolut tolles Video ! So wie es aussieht, kommst Du aus der Schweiz ! Ich habe ebenfalls vor eine Disco zu kaufen. Hast Du es direkt vom TBS bestellt ? Falls ja, wieviel Zollgebühren musstest Du noch berappen ?
    Habe Dich abonniert; tolle und hilfreiche Videos. Gruäss

    I've ordered my TBS Disco due to power brownout issue w/ DIY quad I crashed.
    Have you experienced any loss of power other other issue with Core?

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not at all. Core works great!

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Das ist für das RSSI Signal. Beim Specktrum Empfänger funktioniert das allerdings nicht. Das habe ich für meinen FrSky Taranis Empfänger angelötet. Dort funzt das prima. So blendet es mir die Stärke des RC Signals in der Brille ein. Grüsse aus ZH

    I checked it out. Looks very much like a copy of the TBS one but the HK board is rather ugly. Sure it is much cheaper and will also do the job. Thanks for sharing.

    TBS has good products, but sometimes, they overdo it with their fpv videos. For example the New York video was too much as this might jeopardize the future of fpv in different countries. But hey, they also bring our hobby to the next level. P.S. I just subscribed to your channel.

  • @silverman6019
    @silverman6019 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't know much about fpv just started can you tell me what would be the best way to start

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that is a very general question. start small and expand it over time. Most beginners want to have it all right from the start and get frustrated and put it aside. FPV is a very interesting and complex field so there is a lot of time you need to spend if you do not want a RTF rig. But if you ask more specific questions I might be able to help better.

    What amount of W do you use for your soldering tool?

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      did not see your comment any earlier. I go up to approx 350-400°C depending on the wire thickness

    @silverman6019 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you have any plans for more quad builds

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, absolutely. I have already several possible projects in mind. One is a Octocopter with a 3 axis brushless gimbal for a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Another idea is the brand new Pocket Drone which is currently on Kickstarter. This is a very small tricopter which can go everywhere with you. I am also thinking about upgrading my QAV400 from getfpv.com with a 2 axis gimbal so it becomes the QAV400G. But I guess I will fist put a 3 axis gimbal on my DJI Phantom.

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry, what do you mean exactly?

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think I never answered your question. Honestly, the 2.4/5.8 combo does not get you very far. You will need to stay within 500m and within line of sight. If there is one tree in the way, you might still get a reasonable video. The position of the quad is not so important unless you go up high (and of course if there are obstacles in your way). I am now upgarding to 433/2.4 on some of my builds. 5.8 is still good as it is getting very popular and better rx are available boosting your range.

    total cost?

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope, no prop adapters are needed if you use the 9x5 Graupners

    I'd not tie wrap the motor wires till you know rotation direction is set correctly.

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment. Right, I check the direction of rotation before I tie wrapped them. This is just not visible in the video.

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    a normal hardware store or even your local hobby shop should carry it

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is the normal Discovery, not Pro. At the time that I have purchased the Discovery, there was no Pro at that time. If I could choose today, I would rather get the Disco Pro.

    Ja, genau, das ging mir nach dem Posten auch durch den Kopf. Ich kämpfe mit dem gut anordnen des Naza V2, PMU und mini iOSD, kaum Platz, will eben da Ganze Naza Zeug zw. die Platten bringen. Frage mich nur, ob ich das PMU nicht auf das Naza kleben kann. Mal gucken was das Forum sagt ;) GUT FLUG

    Think u forgot the tin shield

    • @Zwyser
      @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You only need the tin shield if you use UHF 433 Mhz, this is why I have not installed. With the tin shiled, it is almost impossible to get to the core

    • @Zwyser

      Harry Brecher You are right. That was the beginning of my soldering career:-) I do it different now as you recommend it. Thanks for that.

  • @Zwyser
    @Zwyser  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    das ist wirklich nicht ganz einfach. Habe auf meinem QAV400, welcher doch einiges kleiner ist als der Disco, auch etwas Mühe gehabt, das OSD und den Amp meter unterzubringen... aber irgenwie gehts immer. PMU aufs Naza kleben? Hmm, könnte gehn ausser der das gäbe irgendwelche Störungen...
