I watched this video 10 years ago. It’s just as good now as it was then. It blew my mind. I had no idea about drones back in then. So after this, I wrote a letter or 30 to Father Christmas. I pleaded my case and I’m glad to say at the age of 40 I got my first drone a DJI vision plus 2. We are now in 2023 and I’m still flying, not the same drone of course. This is the video that started my journey though. Thank you DroneX.
Stunning Mark..simply stunning! I was born and grew up here and I agree with another's comments... you managed to make the town look nice. I too loved the acknowledgement to the people on the tower, a lovely touch. Well done to you and good luck with future projects Xx
I love the bit when Mark uses the quadcopter to 'wave' back at the people in the tower. I think a lot of people missed that bit and assumed it was turbulence :)
Fantastic footage! And excellent piloting too. It's amazing how drones have opened up the possibilities of photography and exploration so suddenly and so radically. It's staggering, and quite scary really. One could only have dreamt of flying freely around landmarks like this just a few years ago. (I like the part when you waved at people.)
brilliant - mark was in the car all the time - didn't see that one coming... whats the rig setup on the roof of the car - I have to get myself one too!
I know you can have TX RF module extension cord for RC, base band signal cord has no data loss. But FPV's 5.8GHz RF module and antenna are usually built into the head set, and 5.8GHz RF extension cord causes at least 50% signal and range loss. His setup seems to have a 1km range. That part is a mystery.
Great video, great songs. Really drags people's ideas of Blackpool into the year 2015. Well done that man, you've no ideas how many times I have watched this and posted it to my facebook. I love it!!
Mark seems to be flying with a lot of forthought going into his flights,It's obvious to me anyhow that he has been doing this for quite q while as his flights are executed flawlessly and dosen;t do anything stupid showing that the best chance we have to keep the governments from killing our passtime is to self police ourselves and just Think about our flying and the affect it has on others.Don't put your camera in someones face if it's not realy known if they will object to having it there OK Guys!.Marks OK he thinks then flys...... Fly safe Fly Heaps Fly Hard jcinAuz
It was scary seeing that fly near the moving roller coaster. If one those falls out of the sky and hits someone in the head. I can see the the government bringing in legislation.. Great pictures though.
How are you not scared flying this thing over water and people? I'm scared shitless when I go over water with my quad because it's such a big investment.
@Curt Shaw I think TH-cam is too draconian with is soundtrack copyright rules. Ok fair enough if you deliberately put a sound track on your video that is copyright. But I've heard of videos being deleted simply because someone had a random radio program playing in the background that had some music on while the video was being made. I mean its hardly like the radio music was meant to be part of the sound track! Same thing has happened in cars when people film a ride. If the car radio is on and a song is played your video will be deleted. Its a bit harsh I think. In any case no one wants to listen to stony silence during a video its a sure way of getting TDs.
I think putting music on video,s only encourages people to buy the track they would otherwise never hear.as people always ask oooooo what's this song your playing.
I live about 10 mins away... Its full of smack heads, but some places are quite nice. The north of Blackpool is very nice, nearer Fleetwood, but the further away from the shore you get, deeper into the land, the worse it gets
Nick qfn i love blackpool but it is a shithole , a fun shithole nevertheless! a typical british seaside town that lives on its past. same dodgy families running the show and an inept council dont help blackpool at all. go a few , actually one street back from the coast and your in for more fun than your old wild west my yank friend!! lol! lytham rd especially were the most silubrius of saloon bars are. having said all this there is still nowhere else like it in the uk and if im correct it is still the most popular seaside resort in the uk...!!!??? thinking of coming?? lol!!
It can be rough on the back streets but the golden mile is brilliant. The place has such a good atmosphere and it's so nice when it is night and the lights are on.
Very nice footage, nice flying skills and sweet editing. But some of the flights I can NOT approve of, especially in and around the amusementpark. Dropping the quad on a person due to faulty LiPo or whatever is bad enough, dropping it on a roller-coaster and endanger the whole train I can not approve of. I seriously enjoy the scenery thou :)
Agreed, fantastic footage, makes me want to go out a FPV right now. However if something goes wrong (a malfunction?) with the copter at high altitude over a populated area somebody could get hurt.
Gustavo Mendes Noone and everyone. If enough people share an opinion it will be considered the public opinion, feel free to study the basics of democracy and freedom of speech. When this kind of flying causes a serious accident the negative press will force laws and legislations we do not want. Thus I and others with me are encouraging the community to frown upon dangerous flying in order to have continued freedom under responsibility for everyon who want to enjoy this hobby.
Thanks Mark for the video. Blackpool is a an old stomping ground as I am from Preston and visited Blackpool regularly and for a while lived in St Annes. It was good to see the place again and see the changes that have been made. I have to agree with Tom Reed that the Blackpool I knew was a shithole. Your video shows that it has improved but Is it really cleaned-up. It's funny how we remember what seemed to be good but in reality leaves much to be desired. I now live in warmer climbs, Adelaide South Australia. Once again thanks for your video and all the best from down under.
Everything about that video was brilliant. You made Blackpool look amazing (which it is, I know from past experiences) and I think your choice of music was spotty dog. Blackpool tourist board owe you big time.
Can't deny it is an amazing footage but I believe it is also irresponsible to fly over crowded places and amusement parks as shown here. Hope we never see shit like GPS/FPV gear glitches that cause a crash where people gets hurt (or almost). This hobby is already a risk by itself so let's try not to make it more dangerous. Go to mountains, empty beaches, forrests, cliffs... like others and enjoy!
Remember when you first released this, still up there with the best, brilliant piloting, great editing and an absolutely banging tune, makes me laugh all the drone police commenting on here. Def stood the test of time, Awesome vid.
That is truly beautiful Thanks. I am sitting here far, far away from my hometown that I haven't seen for 7 years and tears of joy are pouring down my cheeks.
I watched this video when it first came out in 2013, and many times since. It's the best drone video with great music that began my interest and shortly after that, I built my first drone. Technology has moved on considerably in the last 3 years but this is still my favourite video. Thanks so much for getting me started.
most excellent, love the way the guy on the tower knew straight away that you had waved; shame he didn't get that you "nodded" ! as well... I would have! Brilliant.
well its been a while since i first saw this outstanding video, a couple of phantoms and a few other quadcopters later, I still love this video, thanks for inspiring me to get into this hobby, its awesome..
Amazing footage. You flew that thing with great skill, and I love the little touches such as a wobble in greeting to a group of people on the tower. Now I know why seagulls always seem to be smiling:-)
I loved it I live here in Mereside and it was great to see everything , when youre in town wandering about you miss so much . thankyou for sharing hope you dont mind ive shared it to facebook .
Love this video (and music)! Have seen it many times, very upbeat. Blackpool seems like a fun place to visit. Seems like a permanent county-fair. Would love to visit the tower and see the circus.
Great video and nice control of the Quad, I like the way you responded to the guys up the Tower, Blackpool looked great, only thing missing is the deep blue sea, dunno why most of the UK,s sea is grey.
Absolutely brilliant. I was brought up in Preston and so have been to Blackpool quite a few times. On a sunny day and from altitude it looks almost beautiful!. I applaud your skill and nerve. Don't think I'd have the confidence to fly like that. Nice one.
Haha, I love how you communicated with the people on the tower.
I looked this video 10 times. It was never boring.
Greetings

😆😆😆
Still not a nice place . Lol

You're welcome😊
Great video, I've been to Blackpool loads of times. Great to see the sights from a different perspective other than the tower!
Great photography and fantastic to see the town painted in such a positive light for a change! :-)
Brilliant, especially them waving to you up Blackpool tower.
Stunning Mark..simply stunning! I was born and grew up here and I agree with another's comments... you managed to make the town look nice. I too loved the acknowledgement to the people on the tower, a lovely touch. Well done to you and good luck with future projects Xx

Great Film.A seagulls eye view of the Golden Mile and Tower.Love the movement by the Tower.Very talented Man.Brilliant Control.

Great film and great music which takes me back to the early 90's in the Zone Blackpool...Great days, thanks for the trip:)
I like the part where you 'wave' back at the people up the tower
Nice flying and the photography is brilliant, it is a great watch. Thanks.
Fantastic filming & and joy to watch.
this video is worth it to watch, just beauiful view. good work buddy.
brilliant - mark was in the car all the time - didn't see that one coming... whats the rig setup on the roof of the car - I have to get myself one too!

i love to see someone not giving a fuck about the 50m rule for buildings and people.
Paul Preddy gonna be a pretty tough thing to police though.

***** holy mhoely, yep if you do do it, probably best not to identify yourself on youtube ey.
sn0wchyld ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
superb film with a birds eye view plus plus Love it ! Big like
F.P.V. porn in the first degree..... outstanding control Mark, I salute you bro.
Thank you for the entertainment. :)
Just simply outstanding! I loved it when the guy on the tower waved and the quad waved back and he got all excited lol.
It's bloody awesome, but please please please please put the missing apostrophe into the title.
No, it doesn't go on 'flies'
Absolutely amazing Mark, can't stop watching it and loving the tunes too
Gonna use an Oculus Rift to try this in first person
Énorme bravo pour cette superbe vidéo!!! J adore vos prises de vue. Génial!!!!!!!!
How are you not scared flying this thing over water and people? I'm scared shitless when I go over water with my quad because it's such a big investment.
and birds!
GamenCow Great, now you've got me scared about birds too ;)
haha!!
same here! pretty scared taking it over water and houses!
I hate taking mine over people because I remember as a kid, my dad had a drone and some asshole threw a rock at it and broke it
Wonderful. I never realised just how flat the area around Blackpool is. Thanks.
@Curt Shaw

I had a holiday video deleted because I filmed my kids dancing on the stage to music I didn't own. I mean, REALLY???
StevesProjects There should be some legal clause preventing them from doing that, clearly common sense hasn't prevailed.
It's ridiculous. It's not like you're burning it to DVD and selling it to people.
I think putting music on video,s only encourages people to buy the track they would otherwise never hear.as people always ask oooooo what's this song your playing.
absolutely stunning footage, wow its bowled me over! thanks for sharing!!
Great vid ! Blackpool does not look like a shit hole to me ? But I'm just seeing it thru films. Love this though great job !!! From USA.
I can 100% guarantee that it is a shit hole !!! From the UK...not that far from Blackpool.
I live about 10 mins away... Its full of smack heads, but some places are quite nice. The north of Blackpool is very nice, nearer Fleetwood, but the further away from the shore you get, deeper into the land, the worse it gets

It's a shit hole I'm going today to film
One of the best dji quadcopter videos I've seen.
Very nice footage, nice flying skills and sweet editing. But some of the flights I can NOT approve of, especially in and around the amusementpark. Its funny that they call this the "Golden" mile - I've been to blackpool and its a real shithole.
thats funny
Tom Reed lol! yeah its a shithole..... but its a fun shithole!!!
That's your opinion
Tom Reed lol so true but i still love black pool
Well I don't quite think that it's fair for you to judge Blackpool with such disrespect...
Everything about that video was brilliant. You made Blackpool look amazing (which it is, I know from past experiences) and I think your choice of music was spotty dog. Blackpool tourist board owe you big time.

Excellent video. I’m more into mini quads but do appreciate the cinematic aspect of flight.
Absolutely brilliant. I was brought up in Preston and so have been to Blackpool quite a few times. On a sunny day and from altitude it looks almost beautiful!. I applaud your skill and nerve. Don't think I'd have the confidence to fly like that. Nice one.
