    I recently got K4 v2 Browns. And I love the 96% layout. And as for the blacklit press the the fn+💡to turn on the blacklight. Just pressing the 💡 button only changes the mode. And also you can dim the lights. So check if it is dimmed all the way down.
    She might have already figured it out. Just put it here if anyone else needed.

    The K2's a phenomenal keyboard.
    FYI I'd bet the lighting issue on the red was you needing to hold Function, then tap the lighting key. That cycles lighting itself on and off (and while it's toggled off, the brightness adjustment keys will do nothing) and can leave one momentarily convinced the board's lighting has gone out.

    With the Reds, although it's supposed to be 'quieter'... it would seem that by natural habit, most people would bottom out more often, and thus it somehow sounds really similar to the Browns because of that thump at the end. Also because you aren't used to Reds, the 'misses' are more pronounced or rather you don't realize that the input has already been registered, making you second guess and doing a second tap just for confirmation, only to find out otherwise.
    Between Linear and Tactile, I believe most people naturally steer towards Tactile as a natural form of interaction with a keyboard, while Linear tends to take time to get used to, and is more of an acquired taste.
    I was debating between Browns and Reds as well, but in the end when with Brown. Literally just purchased the Keychron K6 Hot-Swappable with Gateron Brown, and am eagerly waiting for its arrival.
    With that said however, I did also purchase the Glorious Panda switches, so we'll see how goes!

    • @VideoFanatic13
      @VideoFanatic13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you get the browns, satisfied with the purchase or second guessing the reds?

    • @akerouge3519
      @akerouge3519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@VideoFanatic13 Just got them yesterday, and yes I chose the hot-swappable board with the Gateron Browns.
      Personally, despite the debacles about brown switches in general, I do actually quite like these Gateron Browns. I've personally tried Razer Orange, MX Brown, MX Red, and these Gateron Browns.. are kind of a mix between a Razer Orange and a MX Red. It has slightly less tactility compared to the Razer Orange, but the downstroke is as smooth as a MX Red. It's kinda unique in my opinion. You're getting almost the smoothness of a linear, while having just a tinge of tactility that's just faintly enough for a person to feel the actuation point. It isn't scratchy at all either.
      Even so, I'll probably swap out for lubed Glorious Pandas once I get those, and I'm looking at Sakurio switches as well.
      Edit: Revised thoughts after about a dozen more hours of testing.

    • @lynneftw
      @lynneftw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What did you do to the o-rings? And how did that more positively affect the key presses or sound? I love the FEEL of a mechanical keyboard, but I don't like super clacky/clicky or mushy. I prefer the sound of my quiet low-profile laptop keys, but would rather the height/travel of a mechanical key.

    • @jazbean
      @jazbean 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lynneftw O-rings go inside the keycaps around the centre part that attaches to the switches. Generally they can make your keyboard a little quieter by preventing the switch from bottoming out, but if you have clicky switches it's not going to get rid of the click noise. They can also make the keys feel mushy depending on the o-rings you use.

      No double clicking issues I noticed

    do you have any issue with the height profile of the K2? I was looking at the lower profile keychron models to spare my wrists but I def would prefer a 'full' keycap...

    • @shirleylane1057
      @shirleylane1057  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I tend to hover my wrist while typing, so it’s not at a painful angle. It takes some time to get used to, you might find a wrist pad to be useful.

    For typing I like brown better. The sound doesn’t bother as blue( I had a headache when I used blue ), and the feel is so good ( better than red). For gaming I think red is the winner

    Reds sound the best imo, but they are way too mushy / easy to press for me to get used to, too many typos and fingertips hurt from constantly bottoming out. Hoping browns are an improvement.

      exactly my problem. They are too mush and i get so many typos. I swtiched from the blues to the reds. But gonna go for the brown in stead cause i need that clicky feel

    In practice you can't tell the difference between red and brown.
    Only when you're aware of how it feels can you tell the slight difference.
    But when you're writing and essay at 75wpm concentrating on what you're writing, you can't tell really.
    Also both of these switches make me feel like I might press a key accidentally
    ...so I'm thinking between blue and brown but I wonder if blue will eventually drive me mad. I've never had a mech keyboard before.

      @ayo Why is that?

    • @muCephei_
      @muCephei_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ayo Oh i see, it's loud, but it would probably be a bother if I'm a gamer. Butr I'm a typist and it feels and sounds great and the sound doesn't bother me

    Hi Shirley! Great video and awesome review 👍 I just got mine today off Amazon *red switch. But I also noticed my backlights were doing this weird thing every time I clicked the light button to change the light profile, the 1 key kept blinking twice first then it would change. But once I factory/manual reset the keyboard that went away. Maybe you should try and reset it and maybe your light issue might get fixed!

    Red is a bit unforgiving for typers. All it takes is gentle touch of wrong key. I like it tho. Because the less i have to push the keys, the faster i can type.

    Hi, really keen to buy one for typing, will never be gaming; should i get blue or brown? What is main difference when typing?

    • @Drewless
      @Drewless 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends I would go for brown because blues will get annoying while browns maintain the tactile feel without hearing that lcick

      If you really like having that feedback and don't mind the noise (I should say if your roommates don't mind the noise), then blue. I personally prefer the brown :)
