Watching this one can easily tell that Donald has keenly observed Shoaib throughout his career. The passion he has for quick bowling is unmatchable.
A really mean an quick bowler says that Shoaib was the meanest and quickest that he ever saw....you cannot question that statement.
Bowlers like Shoaib have a very short timespan. Shoaib peaked in the first 2 years of his advent. God he was scary...only bowler to have body blows on Lara, Kirsten , Ganguly and Sachin. Lara and Kirsten were taken home on a stretcher.
Its not neccessory that bowlers like Akhter have short career..It is just a mishappening that he had arthritis...He had to take multiple injections before and after the game and he also had multiple surgries as well...

As an old timer who has been watching cricket since the late 60s , I really miss Shoaib .. cricket needs bowlers like him who love to bowl "fast". Nothing gives an adrenalin rush that is comparable to seeing a bowler steaming in from a looooong run up and then hurling a thunderbolt at 100 mph .. ( as long as you are not the one 22 yards in front of him I guess : - ) .. ).
Certain things are beyond the pale of friends and enemies my friend. I would have admired Shoaib's bowling even if he were my personal enemy .. The world is not black and white ..every Pakistani is not evil any more than every Indian is the paradigm of goodness. I dont like many things about Pakistan , but that doesnt mean that I should not appreciate the good things that come out of there ( great fast bowlers, Sufi singers ,like Abida Parveen , Nusrat Fateh Ali to name just two , excellent rock bands and wonderful guitar players ..). I do not like the kind of rigid salafi Islam expoused by Zakir Naik but then neither do I like the "neo Hinduism" that has sprung up as a reaction here in India. It is diversity that makes this world a beautiful place and all attempts to undermine it will leave the world that much poorer.

On the other hand when I hear Zakir Naik speak, all I can sense is naked ambition , a very human super ego. In short I can only see all the shortcomings of man in all his discourses ..If this is the "saved" sect then humanity is better off without it.

Long run ups and the crowd cheering the bowler on were epic. Watching Shoaib or Donald run up and bowl to a top batsmen was always worth the money.

Shoaib is not the best. He is not in the league of waseem, waqar, mcgrath, donald, walsh, ambrose or dale steyn. He is the fastest. that's it. Like Donald said "he is not the most skillful." Check out any list of great fast bowlers, you would not find Shoaib's name with the skillful bowlers.
