Allan Donald himself was a very feared bowler. I remember watching him as a kid, he was very intimidating. One of the best of his era.
The high praise coming from Alan Donald means a lot. Curtly Ambrose is a legend, present WI cricket needs his spirit and capability.

When I say 90s to 2008 was best of cricket, some say I'm just nostalgic. People from this era will say same after 15 years about this time. But just see who played at that time, how many all timers. Deadly bowlers and batsmen who made run against them.
For me it;s the early 80's to mid-90s. Nostalgia as well :)
Today's cricket is shit. Nobody will remember it after 15 years.
T20 is part of that reason it is simply an insult to the game and screwing around with technique, grit and concentration required for the true cricket being test cricket. 50 overs was by far a short enough game and is plenty exciting. t20 is a little slog fest and that's all. I really do hate it.
80s to 2008 for me. All the major stars of the sport made their entry and most made their exit by the end of 2008
Funny i say the same thing about football. All timers in every position. I think it was the last period where sports was not too mechanised or too dependent on stats but w extremely skilled players
Ambrose was absolutely impeccable ! 💎 Very unfortunate they (he & Walsh) didnt have batting support they deserved barring a lone Lara brilliance & Chanderpaul anchor 😢 Too bad Hooper & Richie Richardson who had amazing talent, simply faded away 💔

Donald describes his contemporaries very well, although the Dean Jones incident wasn't factually correct. He didn't hit Jones on the head or bowl him out

Curtly Ambrose took 7 wickets with an average of 58.3 in his test series debut against Pakistan in West Indies home series where west indies drew the series 1-1. And Pakistan is a team where players are not good players of Pace bowling. They could easily play a fast bowler like curtly ambrose. His first wicket was an ordinary batsman was mudgascar Nazar.
Whereas Ajanta Mendis took 26 test wickets in test series debut with an average of 12.1 against India where Sri Lanka thrashed India 2-1. India is a team where players are great spin. But they couldn't a spinner named Ajanta Mendis. His first wicked was the great Rahul Dravid.
