Allan Donald talks abt Sachin ,Lara ,Steve waugh in an interview in 2009 ,
I had been watching Sachin Tendulkar on and off before we (South Africa) were readmitted in 1991.
Everything about him is just so exceptional. He is wonderful technically and he has everything - class, speed, all the shots, and he is cool under pressure. Cricketers always talk about his amazing balance, even the Aussies. I've seen tapes of Sunil Gavaskar and if you split the screen between him and Tendulkar, they look virtually identical. I have never seen a man with such immaculate balance - it is freakish.
People go to a Test match just to watch Tendulkar. I, for one, would rather watch him than bowl against him. Actually, I'm glad I'll never have to bowl to him in a Test match again, though I've been quite successful against him. He is No. 1 in my book - the best player I have ever had the privilege of bowling to. There's Steve Waugh and there's Brian Lara, who was wonderful in 1995, but Tendulkar is a class above, consistently special.
The best knock I can remember him playing was at Newlands in 1997, when he was just unstoppable. We only got him thanks to a blinding catch by Adam Bacher off a hook shot, otherwise he would have gone on and on.
Under Hansie Cronje we studied hard for a Tendulkar weakness. We thought he might be vulnerable, especially early in his innings, to the ball that is bowled from wide of the crease, coming back in off a good length. He might then be bowled through the gate, or be lbw, especially on English wickets. We also tried peppering him with short balls - not many top-class batters like that - but it didn't really seem to bother him. The one thing that might rattle him is being restricted. He loves scoring, and scoring quickly, and if he is frustrated, sometimes he goes out and looks for the big shot.
I don't think he really gets rattled by sledging. Glenn McGrath tried it and Tendulkar just kept running at him and hitting him back over his head for four. I think that, like Steve Waugh, sledging just makes him more focused: I don't think it is a good idea to have a word.
Tendulkar is already a legend so I'm not sure how he'll be remembered - what comes after legend? . He's the best in the world, one of the most magnificent players there's ever been. He's also a nice guy, a soft-hearted bloke who gives 110% and just loves playing cricket.

Tendulkar was a master, it was like watching a skilled tradesman at work in a business that had been handed down for generations. He had reduced the business of elite batting to a craft. You could see the experience from how calculative he was, it was almost mechanical the way he'd squeeze out the last drop of every inning. With Lara, you got the sense that it was God given talent. When he wanted it, good luck trying to stop him. What's funny is that neither of them look like the beasts they were at the crease. Both slight in frame & physical stature. I spent countless hours playing Brian Lara cricket 96 in my childhood pretending that I was Lara. I also tried that in Pakistan's street cricket with the lavish batlift and never survived more than an over. For me, Lara was a Prince because he wielded his bat like a sword. Thank you for the memories Sir.

This bastard called Lara is very jealous of Great Muttiah Muralitharan .In 1999 Aus vs WI match he hit 153 and scored lot of runs against warne 's balls ,so drop Shane warne from Australian team too .He didn't say that .He did not tell about how Warne was removed from the team because he scored a lot against warne .Warne is his close friend .That s why he doesnt say anything to warne.
      Muralitharan - 133 matches - 800 wickets - 67 five wickets hauls
      Warne - 145 matches - 708 wickets - 37 five wickets hauls
In 2001 ,he scored against Muralitharan only in one match ,so now he is saying that he always scored well against Muralitharan 😂.And wI lost that match 😂. He thinks he is the best batsman in the world because he scored 400 by luck.Hayden also hit 380 , Mahela also hit 374.He is going to be the superstar because he scored 20 runs more than that.

      test Average .sangakkara 57/sachin 53 /lara 51/pointing 52 /kallis 55
      Centuries - sachin - 51 / ponting - 42 / kallis - 45 / Sangakkara - 38 / lara - 34
      Odi avg - sachin - 45 / ponting - 43 / kallis - 42 / Sangakkara - 41 / lara - 39
Sangakkara and Bradman has more double centuries than him.
In terms of stats ,sachin ,Sangakkara ,ponting and kallis are far ahead of him.He does not become the best batsman just because he bats stylishly😂.
He says that warne is the best because warne used to play in the sena fields.
      Bowling avg in eng - Muralitharan - 19 / warne - 21 (sena )
      Bowling avg in nz - Muralitharan - 19 / Warne - 21( sena )
      Bowling avg in wi - muralitharan - 23 / warne - 39
Muralitharan s best bowling performance against eng is 9 /65 at the oval ground .he single handely destroyed english batting line up.😂
Muralitharan only failed in Australia . When considering other sena countries his stats are much better than warne .This records proved it.
This beggar lara is well aware of these stats.knows very well that the sena records of ( nz and eng) Muralitharan s are much better than warne .
Muralitharan has 534 odi wickets with 23 bowling average while warne has only 293 odi wickets with 26 bowling average 😂.

    @vasudevkarthik4593 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Tendulkar and Pointing are batting greats, whereas Warne and Akram are Bowling greats.
If we talk about Stats that includes Wickets and runs scored as well
Warne has over 1001 wickets and 4200 runs across all formats not bad for a no 9 or no 10 batsman
Wasim Akram has 916 wickets and 6600 runs across all formats a good record for someone who bats at 7 or 8
Sachin has 30,000 runs and 200 wickets across all formats
Pointing has 28,000 runs and only 8 wickets
    If we talk about catches
Warne has 205 (125 in the test and 80 in ODI)
Sachin has 255 catches (115 in the test and 140 in ODI)
Wasim has 132 catches (44 in the test and 88 in ODI) not bad for a fast bowler
Ponting has 355 catches ( 195 in the test and 160 in the ODI) one of the best slip fielders
Let's compare this with Jacques Kallis
25000 runs across all formats (13289 runs in test, 11 580 runs in odi)
62 centuries across all formats ( 45 centuries in test, 17 centuries in ODI)
331 catches across all formats ( 200 catches in the test, 131 catches in ODI)
565 wickets across all formats (292 wickets in test, 273 wickets in ODI)
Warne, Wasim, Ponting and Tendulkar are greats during 90s and 2000s but if i has to pick out one player from that era then i would prefer Jacques Kallis i mean i am ready to drop either 2 of them in exchange of having Kallis in my team

    • @NitishRickyFan14
      @NitishRickyFan14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Whilst Kallis could provide the much needed balance to the team, he couldn't ever be termed as a match winner like the players you had mentioned. He couldn't outright win you matches in any of the disciplines that he seemingly mastered. Yes, Kallis was a freak who could do it all but then there was again only that much that he could do. You certainly wouldn't place your bets on Kallis to play you a rear-guard match winning inning, or castle the opposition bowling on a docile pitch. That being said, there's no denying Kallis' talent, his skills, his unrelenting tenacity, resilience and dedication to his craft that made him the greatest all rounder after Sir Gary Sobers to have played the game.

it is so nice to hear a player select from their era. Too many clips on youtube are of players selecting and all time xi yet the players chosen 99.9% of the time played in the last 25 years . short memories and total disrespect for the history of the game
