I am an Indian Christian. I am a critic of Modi and the Hindutva extremism. However, I feel that this expert has some inherent hatred for India. Everything in India is bad for him which is not the case. Modi is doing a lot of things right like infrastructure development and welfare measures. That is why a lot of people vote for his party. Not simply because of religious extremism. I just hope that those who listen to this do not form an opinion of India based solely on this. India is much more diverse and complex than what has been presented.

Completely agreed. I am a big critique of BJP but not Modiji.
There are certain decisions and policies which are disaster.
But then there are other initiatives of this government which has lifted india economically and politically

I agree with most things he has said about the present government but his assessment of the UPA governmentt is really foolish at best. Mr Modi could sweep the 2014 elections simply because the UPA was a disaster is many areas-security, infrastructure, fiscal management. Is this chap completely unaware of the the numerous terrorist attacks during that decade? The economic growth was good but it was good across the world during most of that decade. People won't allow you to rule a large country like India if you can't even ensure basic security.

He's wrong about the most basic thing.
That is, everything in India is better under Modi than it was under 60 years of Congress same patry same family dictatorship. 😑😑

He's racist. He was coddled and mollied by South Asian elites. Now they've been replaced and he's no longer treated as a celebrity Academic in India, he's turned sour and become racist.

Whyte west is upset that they can't put us (ie Indians in India) into reservations like they did in N Amer.
Whyte west can't think beyond replacing others. Since they're unable in this case, they are growing more and more upset.

Whyte West is upset that even after they got r id of 50+ millions of "Indians" in N. Amer, and put the few remaining into reservations, there are still somany Indians left outside and free elsewhere.
We Indians, our very existence in large numbers and our freedom, reminds west every day about what they did to native Indians, and hence theu resent us.
Our existence is their mirror, and they dont like what they see.

The guy is basically lamenting on the fact that Modi does not respect elites & intellectual cabal. Good.
The question people like Jaffrelot should ask themselves is why Indian people dont take him seriously rather than blaming the electorate.
