It is amazing how much patience China has with the western world despite their atrocious behaviour, communication & actions.
If one studies the 5000 history of China, one will certainly understand their will power, innovation & long-term strategy.
Mr Mahbubani truly understands China & the Asian world.

Go originated in China more 2500 years ago and spread to Korea and Japan.
It is a game of strategy, logic and intuition, where two players compete to surround more territory than their opponent on a grid of lines.
In the realm of geopolitics, Xi Jinping's strategic moves are often compared to a seasoned player of Go. Just as in Go, where the aim is to surround more territory than the opponent, Xi Jinping's pursuit of comprehensive global dominance over the U.S. involves intricate and calculated maneuvers.

China is day and night from the US. Yearning for peace, stability and harmony are in China’s DNA, not violence, imperialism and world domination as in the case of the US.
Frankly, with few exceptions, the US ruling elites and think-tanks are hubristic, intoxicated with domination, narrow-minded and short-sighted. The US’ system makes a lot of noise, a lot of theatrics but accomplishes very little substance.
The US policy makers know no reverse gear. They have way too much foolish pride to admit mistakes and course-correct. Doubling down on every failed policy is the mode of operandi.

People are always saying that China has the second largest economy by nominal GDP. However, China has the world's largest economy *_by purchasing power parity._* Why do we insist on using nominal GDP over GDP PPP to compare national economies?
GDP PPP is a better metric of the *_standard of living_* in these countries. A hamburger in USA costs more than the same hamburger in Philippines.
Historically, China and India have alternately been the world's largest economies *_by purchasing power parity_* over the last 2,000 years (except for 1900-2013), according to the Maddison Project. This was well before the United States even existed. Thus, nominal GDP is a biased metric.

The gap is so vast the chances of the USA catching up are literal zero, same with Europe, the West is over. Its desperation in clinging to African theft to prop up its flagging economic state, also ended, meaning very soon the noose will tighten on the populations and the people will start to see exactly what their Governments and Corrupt corporations have done. People in the US and Europe should be very afraid of their own leaders right now, because the writing is on the wall, they have no moves left to bridge the collapse, and that means they are desperate. Pew Research said that the collective West views China negatively. This is true. However, the collective West represents less than 20% of the world's population and less than 20% of the world's nations. In other words, the collective West is a relatively small minority.
Why, then, does it matter that the collective West views China negatively? Why isn't it more significant that the global majority views China positively?
Is it because of the collective West's global dominance and imperialist control? Is it because we fear the collective West?
Of course, the answer is obvious. It is the collective West that, for that last 70 years, has imposed its will on the entire planet, waging endless wars, imposing endless sanctions, conducting endless coups, and suppressing the development of the Global South nations.

    • @arthurhwang117

The general public in the “Collective West” view China increasingly negatively because the Main Stream Media in Western countries have blanketed the information space with lies, vitriol, and hate for the last five to ten years. Today, EVERY article is negative. If there is a flood in China, it’s how the Chinese destroy the environment. If Chinese EV exports increase, it’s intellectual property theft and unfair government subsidy. It’s lies about forced labor and genocide in Xinjiang. And so on and so on. A free press and reliable information is fundamental to functional democracy, but today, the MSM has become propaganda organs of the AngloAmerican system, and you ask why public opinion has changed.
If you challenge the man on the street about his opinions on China, he says “But look at what the papers say” and the papers say “look at the opinion polls”.
Yet we talk about these things as if they are unrelated. They are ABSOLUTELY related. In fact, public opinion is entirely based on the media - those that escape from the media narrative are the exceptions : the people who actually take the time to think and to do their own research are as rare as diamonds in the sand.

Kindly please narrate in as much detail as possible about the
" declassified documents from London " about China's border dispute with India....kindly also indicate the date when these documents were released & what was the reaction from India & China on these documents...it would help me & many other Indians a great deal to take a detached, objective view of this long- simmering dispute between two great neighbours, both of whom possess so much wisdom , to work collaboratively primarily for the greater good of global humanity. In so doing, both China & India working selflessly, will not only bring about peace, harmony & prosperity worldwide, but also automatically achieve their own country's goal of economic development,
peace & prosperity. That's what Hindu scriptures say. At rhis critical moment, when China & US are not far from a major war in the Indo- Pacific & India ,as a key member of QUAD, is going to take on China jointly with US, surely, if, in your opinion, the declassified documents released in London show the way forward for India & China to resolve their
border disputes amicably, then, you've a responsibility to put your views across in the Indian & major global media to support your case for the settlement of China- India once & for all....Jai Hind:
      Jai Bharat.

China already controls all the supply lines for literally every product. All Americans do (a great job too) is put it into new packaging, market, and sell it (Apple). What supply chain does America have? America already lost.. but they haven’t realized that this is a multi polar world and it’s better to work together. Wasn’t america championing the benefits of globalism? That every country should do what they’re best at and share it with the world? What happened to that. America wants to use its military industrial complex to gain power over the Asians.

      @btgan3838 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Don't think "help" is the correct verb to use in this context. Like Kishore said, benevolence isn't applicable to great powers, only strategic interests.
Befriending China in the 1970s, led to the eventual breakup of the former Soviet Union and the end of that Cold War.
China's entry into the WTO was supported by American globalists, who profited handsomely from extending globalisation beyond the 1980/90s.

    • @emmawang1999

Define help. Help means you offer someone something with nothing in return. Trading relation is not a ``help'' because it is mutually beneficial. In fact, the US gets more out of the trading relation with China than China does. You do not call that help.

@@TacticalMayo yeah! Back to the topic of China! The business model commonly employed by the companies in China involves selling products in bulk at low prices. This strategy is aimed at capturing market share by undercutting competitors. Once these competitors are no longer financially viable, the companies can then potentially increase prices to regain profitability. This approach contrasts significantly with typical Western business strategies, which often focus on brand value and customer loyalty alongside competitive pricing.

I would argue that time is not on China's side. The reason? Demographics.
China already has one of the lowest birth rates in the world and has one of the fastest aging populations (using Chinese data). The medium estimate is that Chinese population will go from 1.4 billion today to ~750 million by 2100. The worst case scenario is where population will be 650 million by 2100. By ~2085 there may be more post-65 pensioners than working age people. Think about the implications of that for a moment.
It is hard to see China as the hegemon of the 21st Century with half empty mega cities comprised mostly of pensioners.
In drive home the point, the Shanghai Academy of Social Science (a Chinese think tank) says that the 2020 Chinese census overcounted the Chinese population by 100 million (that is the population of many countries!!!!), almost all of whom are under 40 (e.g - reproductive age). Moreover, most of these missing 100 million are women because during One Child most families preferred sons.
In the meantime, the population of the USA will increase according the UN estimates from 330 million currently to slightly less than 400 million by 2100. The reason is that the USA is one of the few countries of immigrants (the other countries of immigrants that come to mind are Australia and Canada) and people want to be here because of economic opportunity. The USA already has a younger population on average than China, and this gulf will only get worse with time.
I see hard times for China as it struggles with this problem and the myriad of other problems that will afflict it (such as the housing crisis). This will strain resources and provide Beijing with unpleasant choices.

Bullying? They are only defending their claim on the islands like the Philippines are doing. Diplomacy and bilateral talks is the only way to go.
