You explained this far better than my doctors did haha. Thank you. I had this implanted today and for anybody worried about the procedure it was easier than most dentist visits, completely painless and from incision to stitching it took around 1 minute so very quick!

Mine wasn’t completely painless, I definitely felt when it was inserted and also when they numbed it. She is correct, all I needed was a Tylenol the first day.

what’s the recovery like if any? I’m getting it implanted soon because I keep fainting without any reason behind it. Also would I still be able to go to the gym and so forth after.

I had my loop recorder put in February 5, 2024. It is now February 16, 2024. The monitor that is by my bed is not working properly still. Medtronic reps have called me several times to try and fix the problem. Medtronic has sent several messages to my EP clinic. Steven/ Stephen from Medtronic has been so wonderful, so has the other woman from Medtronic. I hope to get this resolved as soon as possible. Bless everyone reading thus. Thank you for making this very informative video. Bless you.

I quick note that will make your day.
My mother-in-law is in the ER and they want to do an MRI, but she only knows she has an implant and nothing else.
By happening on your video I was able to figure out the brand and type enough to get the docs the info they needed to go ahead with her MRI, she's now in line instead of in limbo.
You probably saved her life and definitely severely shortened her hospital stay.
    Thank you.

I'm about to have one implanted. I've seen a couple procedure videos. From them and that detail you went into it seems like a very simple process. I very much know what you mean by cutting down on ER visits. I think also to a large degree it can also help with reducing anxiety which as we all know can make things worse. Thank you again for making this video and prayers tp you and your family!

I just had the Medtronic Linq 2 inserted this morning in the EP lab. I have palpitations caused by PVCs and they've been difficult to catch and ablate. The Linq 2 doesn't require the external transmitter, instead it does it all through an app on your phone and still uses the little keychain transmitter.

  • @andrewwhitehead6354

I'm having mine removed in two days time, currently looking through TH-cam at the procedures just to get myself familiar with it. I've had it in for just over two years now after I had a heart attack at hockey when I was 17. I had another episode that they couldn't diagnose where I had collapsed playing squash and dislocated my shoulder so thats when they decided to put it in. I'm 20 years old now and am still fit and healthy but likely that I'll need a defib or pacemaker. People thought my monitor was a telephone lol!

I have one and was under the impression that it could give EKG type readouts to the electrophysiologist. With recent invents I’m beginning to think it just alerts when an abnormal symptom occurs. My issue was I was on a medication for a week in order to get back in rhythm. My doctor asked me to send a transmission after a week to see if I converted. I did that and he responded that I was still abnormal. I told him I felt better and my $200 fit bit is telling me I am in normal rhythm. I sent him my EKG report from my fit bit and now am scheduled for an office visit to do an EKG. This Fitbit has potentially diverted me from a $5000 plus Cardioversion that we were on track for. In a few days. So what I am saying is apparently the loop recorder does not act as an ekg and give that type of read out. I was thinking that the loop recorder reading would easily take prescedence over a cheap fit bit watch reading. Anyways, if I get a response, I will update. Just sharing my thoughts. Thanks

It has been good to watch you explain everything to know about your loop recorder. I have had my loop recorder for over 3 years to detect afib. Whenever I would have an episode which was around once a month I would receive a phone call the next day from my electrophysiologist tech to inquire how I am feeling . This is such a comfort. I no longer have afib . I had an ablation a year ago and no longer am on blood thinners . Recently the battery in my loop recorder stopped working . Even though I no longer have episodes I am going to replace this loop with another . Afib can return and then a second ablation can be done . I have the exact same system you have and it is a life saver when the patient has afib.

Thank you for this video! I just got mine today due to the fact that my heart stopped for over 5 seconds while wearing another heart monitor and that was recorded. Just before my heart stopped I had an ( aura attack) which is what the neurologists call your bodies alarm bells going off saying that I may or may not have a seizure. Both my neurologist and cardiologist believe that my heart might be contributing to my seizures which is why I got this device. So thank you again for making this video and nothing but good vibes your way!

Seems like I've had AF for a while but just now finding out thanks to the harsh and painful episode of Ischemic colitis. After haulter and other test the loop recorder is what's next because of the 2.5 sec. Pause that I barely notice.
Well thanks again for the insight on what to expect especially the metal detectors.

@@boogerbears7207 What have you heard it does to the heart...check your answer first. Medtronics who designed and tested this device wouldn't be putting an.plant in to us that damaged the heart in any way. The procedure is painless...Tony bee sting scratch to numb the area..you will feel.pressure...but no pain. My corn on my foot was causing me jip.on the day not the procedure. It's all very Hi-tech. Very very clever stuff. You will be fine. Not looking forward to it coming out...🤔🧐

As I watch your channel, I begin to feel (almost) healthy - regardless of I wrote recently below one your video. And let's say I am so healthy I risk my health by entering to rooms with infectious patients (but I have not chance to avoid it - when I am in shift work with nurses). But on other hand, I successfully avoided to work on infectious diseases clinic (to be clear, when I worked on oncology ward, two teammates from other wards of the same hospital were too active in helping me to keep work in that hospital - and I am very polite and so I went to meet chief nurse of infectious diseases clinic -but I said why I cannot work there and she accepted it very well).
All your limitations are very strong. Well, I cannot go to MRI, because I have three (or four) metallic staples on my sternum. And I have to say about it, if I have to pass metal detectors - but no more limitations related to passing metal detectors. And also, I don't know about any other similar limitations.
But there is one thing I would like to ask, because it does not make me sense: What metal detectors do with that loop recorder that you cannot pass through? Because If I am not wrong, they don't use magnetic field (unlike MRI).

Hi, can you tell me how you are doing? I’m supposed to get one in about a week. I, too have SVT and an ablation, but I’m still symptomatic. They keep telling me all is good and it is just anxiety.

@@jamdownstar8100 I am doing well with it. Recovery took about 2-3 weeks. For me it did hurt when they put it in because they can’t numb where your breast tissues is as easily. They think I have something called Atrial Tachycardia. I had a few symptoms of that but have not had any in awhile. I am on beta blockers now to lower my heart rate and it seems to be working.

Thanks for this informative video. I just got my Boston Scientific lux-dx today and this gave me several questions to ask when I fo back in a week.
Mine uses a dedicated cell phone as the bedside transmitter and it also functions as the symptoms recorder.

Extremely helpful! I will soon get one of these. Very helpful to know about the phone, light switches, security screeners, and MRIs. Also you pronounced "tesla" correctly😃.

I just got my loop recorder two days ago. I’m a very medical-savvy person, and I can put up with a lot of pain, but this was a very painful experience for me. The lidocaine shots were extremely painful probably because I’m so bony. The pressure of them pushing on my chest was SO painful and uncomfortable that I cried the entire time. No sedation for me, but I wish I had some! Lol. Hope you all have a better experience than what I had!

    • @rachellydy3367
      @rachellydy3367 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, I am sorry about the pain you experienced! I am having one placed in 3 days but my cardiologist said he puts everyone to sleep since he ‘doesn’t want to hurt anyone’. A doctor I work with does breast biopsies and she adds sodium bicarbonate to the lidocaine and it drastically reduces burning. I wish more docs knew about this trick!!

You poor thing ..my experience was the complete opposit. The corn on my foot was causing me discomfort. Bee sting numbing experience ..and pressure...I'm not so bony. So fast..and very Hi-tech. Very clever stuff...we are lucky to have this....hope all goes well and you get fixed ..

just got mine yesterday. They're trying to figure out why I had a stroke a few months back, so they put this in yesterday. Hopefully I can still lift weights and golf with no problem with this thing in.

This was very helpful. I’m getting one implanted within the next month. Not sure it’s this kind, but it sounds like it. I’m confused what the difference is between using the device on top of the home machine when you get home vs using the smaller gray one. Is the smaller one cellular so it sends it to you cardiologist from wherever you are? Thanks for the great video
