To quote the book from John M. Barry , regarding the 1918 Influenza Pandemic," Flu killed more people in 24 weeks than AIDS has killed in 24 years, more than The Black Death killed in a century." this is some serious stuff but it's fascinating !
One thing in common with influenza and COVID is, both utilized the same general method of infection, via different receptors. Both invaded phagocytes, essentially infecting the very alert and first response system of the immune system. Both resulted in eventual cytokine storms that were triggered essentially by the body "noticing" that the infection wasn't being properly addressed and switching to a cytokine storm based "scorched earth" attack on the infected cells, which by then were fairly ubiquitous and beyond just phagocytes. Initially missed, in part due to some faulty reporting, cytokine storms were initially denied and hence, went unaddressed, causing the worst and most lethal of the infection's symptoms. Once realized, the storms were blunted with steroids and that became the first route of intervention. In the 1918 influenza pandemic, the mere existence of the virus was theorized and considered a wild theory that had absolutely no evidence in support of it. Cytokines were utterly unknown. We'd barely managed to develop vaccines against h. influenzae, a bacterial infection and those were actually developed in some physicians own personal laboratories! One researcher that was well respected had authored a paper proclaiming h. influenzae was the cause of the 1918 pandemic, which lead many researchers down the merry path to nowhere, but it wouldn't have helped had they been aware of the actual cause, as viral research didn't exist, there was no way to visualize the virus, no means of comprehending viral replication, it wasn't until 1931 that the electron microscope was invented, It wasn't until 1933 that influenza A was finally isolated from swine! So close, yet so far! Interestingly, in 1910, Dr Wu Lien-teh had been dispatched to manage and treat an outbreak of pneumonic plague in Manchuria and Mongolia, which ultimately claimed 60000 lives. He'd performed, unusual at the time and location, an autopsy and ascertained that it was indeed airborne and developed a filter mask, the first in use to prevent infection of its kind, which was highly successful. A French physician was dispatched to replace him and refused to use the mask, compounding that with some ethnic slurs and died within days of pneumonic plague. The doctor then insisted upon cremation of the bodies to halt the plague's spread, which was adopted and the plague swiftly ended. It took quite a lot of additional time to eventually trace the animal vector of the infection. Reports of his filter mask were widely distributed and by the 1918 influenza pandemic, were well known and most of the arguments against surrounding COVID and masking, well heard and disproved at that time, with liberty and freedom arguments, etc long exhausted and well, a hell of a lot of folks just went with masking and kept doing that not dying thing. Yet, we still managed to turn an argument over well established medical science on filtering droplets out with a simple mask into a political argument, to the detriment of all. I honestly didn’t care if I died- it would have been a relief. After over two months since first symptoms, I’m still only about maybe 70 to 80% recovered, (wondering if I ever will fully recover) and still have a cough and shortness of breath.

I don’t really care about that tbh. Influenza comes from the Latin word “influence” because they thought it was influenced by the stars. They used the word influenza for any contagious disease.
I just realized all four of my grandparents, their parents & grandparents and all the siblings lived through the years the Spanish Flu was rampant and not one of them died during those years. I don't know if any of them came down with it but none of them died from it. They were spread out in 7 different States and Provinces throughout Canada and the US. I find that interesting given the percentage of people who died.
I got the flu on 2008. And this led to a disabling post viral chronic illness. This was the most sick I have ever been and was too busy to get the flu shot and I worked on a high risk environment. Your video was excellent, could you please do one about (ME) Myalgic Encephalomyelitis?
I want to say it was 2008 influenza A that I went from feeling fine to collapsed and in the hospital while in Tokyo! It left me with a damaged heart. People think it’s just a cold, no, no it’s not.
I had ME for around 6/7 years after contracting glandular fever when I was 14. I suffered mainly with severe fatigue. Then after covid in 2021 I suffered for nearly 2 years with unexplained myalgia, which thankfully seems to have gone. I read domewhere that some people are prone to these conditions when exposed to certain viruses. I would be really interested to see a video on this topic.
I had the flu and added a bronchitis and a sinusitis on top. I was extremely sick for 3 weeks and not being able to work. And I had a bad cough for over 6 weeks. 2 month later I’m still not feeling healthy. This is no joke and can easily turn bad.

Flu is the worst illness ive ever had! Im still recovering from fatigue a month after first contracting it. There is a particularly bad strain going around in the UK at the moment. I was in bed for a week and I could barely move, freezing and sweating, no appetite for a week, double vision for 4 days. Terrible migraine. Awful cough, started phlegmy, followed by a dry cough for weeks. Complete exhaustion. The following statement is admittedly a bit dramatic . . . but when the flu hit its peak, i was scared i might not wake up! It was scary for about 48 hours. Im a very healthy male that rarely gets a cold. And if i do i normally get over it within days. Covid barely affected me either.
I never had the flu and I've been getting flu vaccines regularly the last 5 years. Was supposed to get one last week but then I came down with the common cold. While I know the exact day it started (woke up with a sore throat), I do not have a fever. I'm still staying home though, no need to infect people at work with the common cold either.
I have taken the vaccine annually now. I've had the flu twice and I have never been as sick. Last time I probably should have gone to the hospital and my lungs were wrecked for a long time after getting better. The only reason I didn't go to the hospital was because I could lower my temperature to 39 with meds. Without it was dangerously high. I needed to take a nap after just going to the bathroom 4 meters from my bedroom. I felt like I had been ran over by a train. Even the joints in my toes hurted and I was so exhausted from just trying to feed myself something that took 2 minutes to microwave. Needed a nap every time I left the bed even for a few minutes.
2 years ago the flu took me out. I was working a really social job and my immune system was is top form i had covid a few weeks before and it was nothing for me cleared in a day. But i was so out i almost couldn't contact my employer. I was sick in bed and knew i couldn't come in. But i didnt have the strength to lift my arms and text my boss so i sat for 2 hours trying to move my arm and grab my phone until i finally got it and it took another hour to think of a message. Luckily i made it in time
I’ve been sick many times, but the only illness I ever got that literally caused me to collapse and think I was truly dying, was influenza A. I was at a swish French restaurant in Tokyo and was having a lovely time. As the dinner went on I started feeling sick. Within 2 hours I had collapsed and was taken to the hospital. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Never again. I get the influenza vaccine and since, I’ve not gotten influenza.
I doubt you had the flu. There are plenty of other viruses around. I’ve had the annual flu jab for decades, and have always been grateful for it’s protection. However I’ve just LIVED through confirmed influenza A (by blood test), and then pneumonia. Yes, I had the usual flu jab, just as I’ve had for literally nearly as long as I can remember. I say I LIVED through flu because it very nearly killed me. (I’m a healthy, fit 70 year old.) It’s quite literally the sickest I’ve ever been and was a horrific experience, with ALL the possible listed symptoms including very severe fever, diarrhoea, nausea, severe cough, joint aches, headaches. I honestly didn’t care if I died- it would have been a relief. After over two months since first symptoms, I’m still only about maybe 70 to 80% recovered, (wondering if I ever will fully recover) and still have a cough and shortness of breath. This disease is serious- there are good reasons it kills a lot of people.
Great information and I'm thankful you mention airborne infection, but why wouldn't you list respirators as an effective way of preventing infection then? You're even wearing one in the thumbnail, it's really important not to withhold this information!
Have only had the flu once and that was as a wee child and all I needed was a blanket to sweat it out. There’s more hype today than there’ll ever be, as those who know the actual truth have passed their knowledge down.
I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't get my annual shot and if I do get flu sick it only lasts for one day. I mostly take sick leave only for mental health days common in NZ and AU and the law allows this as staff are entitled to it.
Up until recently (including through COVID) my partner was a healthcare worker and I was a refuse worker, I'm also asthmatic. Neither of us had or have issues with regular vaccinations for obvious reasons.
Back in February 2020 right before COVID I traveled to Tennessee for work. On the last day there I got real sick really quick. I had a meeting until 4pm, left the office and went to the hotel. When I got to the hotel it hit me like a bag of bricks. I went inside and laid down and only got up to go to the Neighborhood Walmart next door for medicine. The next morning I somehow felt well enough to go to the airport and fly back home but when I got home I was on the couch for days. Come to find out I caught the B strain which was different than the vaccine. That was the worst I have ever felt from the flu. I didn't know I was sick and ended up getting several people sick too.
Perhaps these guys need to watch Dr. Karan's latest video on vitamins and specifically mentioning AG1. Don't waste your money, people. Look for unbiased comments.
14:39 - More workplaces should encourage their sick workers to stay home rather than infect everyone else! My experience in a call center centered on being one of the last to catch an illness (mainly due to hand washing, alcohol wipes and hand sanitizer) and at least once EVERY year needing an asthma treatment and antibiotics to treat the bronchitis resulting from it.
I had Type A for about 4 weeks during December. It. Was horrible. I’m a marine. I’m tough. Blah blah. But thought I was going to die. I felt like I had glass chunks in my throat. I’d cough so hard I’d faint. I woke up gasping for air bc my throat was so dry and called 911. It was so scary.
It’s weird but I never got Covid even though I work in healthcare and we were quarantined because of it multiple times yet influenza A got me last January even though I had gotten vaccinated against it about a month before. Doc said it could have been worse without the vaccine. Working in healthcare at least for me, it is essential to protect myself and the people I take care of mostly elderly and disabled.

AG1 is loaded with lectins which are anti-nutrients.
Thank you for making it simple to understand. You are a blessing!
God bless you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I freaking love science and your videos. I’m always floored about the human body. (Huge thanks to those who chose to donate their body/parts for science.)
I remember getting swine flu back when it hit. We had recently returned from Arkansas back to Alaska and was one of the first 5 people diagnosed with swine flu on Elmendorf AFB. That’s was the first time the flu made me sick in like 10+ years at the time…. Then I got COVID this year and omg it was so much worse.
For me the opposite. Covid was a breeze (although I did lose the ability to smell for a while and it was crazy) but the Influenza B I got last year completely swept me off my feet 😖
No you didn't.
I’ve been battling a bad case of the flu for the past month, and this is truly fascinating! Super interesting to know what’s going on inside me right now
Prolonged fasting is key to recovery and regeneration of the immune system. Good luck!
The flu doesn't last a month unless you have a compromised immune sytem
Your information is always interesting and easy to understand. Thank you.
This came out just as I was studying Influenza as part of my online university course. I sometimes struggle learning by reading, and this video really helped me consolidate what I have been reading about this week :) thank you
I’ve had the annual flu jab for decades, and have always been grateful for it’s protection.
However I’ve just LIVED through confirmed influenza A, and then pneumonia. Yes, I had the usual flu jab, just as I’ve had for literally nearly as long as I can remember.
I say I LIVED through flu because it very nearly killed me. (I’m 70.) It’s quite literally the sickest I’ve ever been and was a horrific experience, with ALL the possible listed symptoms including very severe fever, diarrhoea, nausea, severe cough, joint aches, headaches. I honestly didn’t care if I died- it would have been a relief.
After over two months since first symptoms, I’m still only about maybe 70 to 80% recovered, (wondering if I ever will fully recover) and still have a cough and shortness of breath.
Sorry to hear it. I had Flu type B and it was horrible. Have you ever had Covid? If yes, how was it for you?
@ I had Covid in 2023- only relatively moderate symptoms, still not pleasant but nothing even remotely like the flu I’ve just had.
nothing but superstition😅
We all been lied to. I haven't been able to get the flu since February 2020. It's now impossible. When I do get symptoms it's last 30 minutes. No coffee meds nothing is needed. Smh @ these Drs.
We need more people like this telling us truth! Just finished reading The 23 Former Doctor Truths by Lauren Clark. Its fascinating what they hide from society.

We in Sweden does not have much of Influenza right now, but instead we got a Mycoplasma epidemic. Could you possibly talk about that bacteria?
12:06 Oh man, this is something that really grates on me. So many people so often say, "oh, I had the stomach flu". As you said, it's basically not a thing. They had some other kind of infection like norovirus or some other viral or bacterial GI infection, nothing to do with the flu.
People get the flu vaccine. Later, they get norovirus, etc. with diarrhea and nausea. Then they complain that the flu vaccine doesn't work.
I find that interesting given the percentage of people who died.
science 💩
Same my family. Grandparents, children, lots of exposure noone caught it or ied. Thinking genetics plays a part.
I got the flu on 2008. And this led to a disabling post viral chronic illness.
This was the most sick I have ever been and was too busy to get the flu shot and I worked on a high risk environment.
Your video was excellent, could you please do one about (ME) Myalgic Encephalomyelitis?
2017 for me, never got better. Also disabled. So few people understand what has happened to us
I want to say it was 2008 influenza A that I went from feeling fine to collapsed and in the hospital while in Tokyo!

I have taken the flu vaccine annually for many years. It is such a blessing not to worry. I haven't had the flu since - not even mild symptoms.
I've never taken the flu vaccine. Only had the flu once in 25 years. 🤷♂️
Same here- until a few months ago.

I have NOT taken the flu vaccine for about 20 years. I have not had the flu either, despite logging over 2 Million air miles all over the world. I sleep well knowing I’m not enriching corrupt pharmaceutical companies.
Crazy to think that such a channel would recommend a product like AG1. I was just starting to like you guyys.
@@Atlas9ne most do not get enough veg, and so need more b vitamins unless they eat red meat, another good source for b vitamins. B vitamins make a healthy CNS (central nervous system). Interestingly, blood type ties to the ideal type of diet too. O is eldest/carnivore; A is more suited to herbivore, then B was born as agriculture started, so ideally suited for vegetarian/vegan.
We get dna from both parents, so one may be an O and another a B. DNA is influenced by the environment and dietary lifestyle, not just parental gametes.

Probably not a scam but probably not that effective either and still bad value for money vs just having a balanced diet. It is poor sponsorship though I agree with that. I don't think I'd promote anything 3rd party that you put into your body that's just unsafe ground to touch.
I went down the flu rabbit hole, more than I thought possible

I haven't got the flu in 10 years ever since I stopped getting a flu shot. When I got a flu shot I got the flu twice a year.
Have you finally put 2 + 2 together?
So interesting, I love this stuff.
Another great video to educate us, thank you so much

Oh how i wish my science teacher taught like this
I would have retained so much more
I wish my teachers had taught the truth. Hey ho, each to their own.
Shoutout to those of us watching this with the flu right now 🙃🤧🤒

2 years ago the flu took me out. I was working a really social job and my immune system was is top form i had covid a few weeks before and it was nothing for me cleared in a day. But i was so out i almost couldn't contact my employer. I was sick in bed and knew i couldn't come in. But i didnt have the strength to lift my arms and text my boss so i sat for 2 hours trying to move my arm and grab my phone until i finally got it and it took another hour to think of a message. Luckily i made it in time
Great vid. Thank you
I’ve been sick many times, but the only illness I ever got that literally caused me to collapse and think I was truly dying, was influenza A.
It got me last week, but I'm getting better now. The body aches and pain are gone along with the itchy throat. Just have a runny nose right now.

Why?
Great information and I'm thankful you mention airborne infection, but why wouldn't you list respirators as an effective way of preventing infection then? You're even wearing one in the thumbnail, it's really important not to withhold this information!
Great explanation 👍
Have only had the flu once and that was as a wee child and all I needed was a blanket to sweat it out. There’s more hype today than there’ll ever be, as those who know the actual truth have passed their knowledge down.
Good video 📹..thanks for sharing..
I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't get my annual shot and if I do get flu sick it only lasts for one day. I mostly take sick leave only for mental health days common in NZ and AU and the law allows this as staff are entitled to it.

Pottenger's Human is the best for info about boosting the immune system. Fasting is critical!
Can you do a video about the hyoid bone, please?
It’s weird but I never got Covid even though I work in healthcare and we were quarantined because of it multiple times yet influenza A got me last January even though I had gotten vaccinated against it about a month before. Doc said it could have been worse without the vaccine. Working in healthcare at least for me, it is essential to protect myself and the people I take care of mostly elderly and disabled.
