Life After the Fontan
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 26 ต.ค. 2020
Welcome to my channel! My name is Marissa, I'm 24, and I was born with 6 complex congenital heart defects (CHD). Congenital Heart Defects are the most common birth defect, impacting 1 in 100 births. A CHD can be described as a structural anomaly which occurs while a baby is developing in the uterus. Most CHDs require surgery, lifelong care, long-term medications, and more. I'm so excited to bring my passionate advocacy for Congenital Heart Defects to this new platform! Please remember to like, subscribe, and tune in if you want to learn more about living with CHD.

I had one years ago, in November, 29, 2020, cardiac catheterization done due to COVID-19 virus I had three times. This last one caused me to have hard to breathe in my lungs 🫁🫁🫁🫁🫁🫁🫁 and my heart 💜❤️💜❤️💜❤️💜 rate was very low. So they did cardiac catheterization done with the dye. Have cardiologist tests done. It show's me my heart cardiomyopathy and heart failure and the catheterization shows up with a block vein and had echocardiogram showed up inlarged heart cardiomyopathy and heart failure ejection of 19 very slow 🦥. Spent five days.
I’m finding this video so late lol but I need to get one and I’m nervous so I’m researching it 😂😂 glad I found you 🥰
I just had my gallbladder removed on Monday.
Anybody know how Marissa is? She hasn't posted in three years.
Wiwe is the best.
I had one implanted in me 2023
My battery cover won’t come off despite removing the screws any idea how to get the cover off now?
Out of curiosity did you have any diarrhea after your surgery and if so how long did it last
th-cam.com/video/XbMNHoeCnx8/w-d-xo.html
Kardiamobile 6L does not detect heart attack or previous heart attack.
I noticed this video is from three ago and then nothing posted afterwards. Does anyone know why? I hope she's still doing well 🙏
Well done you explained it great ,I've had one fitted over a week ago ,was a little bit difficult for me cause I have breast implants from cancer ,so did take longer to find a position suitable, it's hard to work out if I'm having flutters they come and go so quickly, do the hospital let you know if they can tell from the monitor...
God bless!
I am scheduled to have a Right and Left Heart Catheterization this week. Thank you for the informative video.
You explained it well in January of 2025 I will be getting one implanted to check my heart rhythm due to signs of a stroke I had in March
I woke up this morning. Seems like my heart is beating. Good to go. Just saved &99.00
What is Wi-Fi for ? Why is a cell phone needed ? Those were not explained.
Excellent explanation.
Your explanation was so helpful to me as I just got my loop recorder inserted on October 29/24 & your explanation was very helpful. I have CHD & DiGeorge syndrome & now life with AFIB. I’m almost 50 & I am very grateful for this video of yours. So thank you so very much ❤.

I am having surgery first time gallbladder surgery October 11 2024
@@MichelleYvetteSalazar after surgery plz share your experience
I hope you’re doing well! We would love to hear more from you. 😊
I am having one put in tomorrow
Me too 😅
Although this is not convenient, the alternative is to call 911 or go to an ER, which takes a very long time. 😅
How do i meet a girl like you
I'm here for one reason. To alert people how difficult it is to replace the battery on the 6L. It requires a screwdriver that nobody has. My little set of drivers doesn't have anything small enough. And an eyeglass repair kit doesn't have it either. It requires a P 00 drive. I had to order a set from the Big A. When it arrives, I'll update this comment after I've replaced the battery. But c'mon Alivecor. Do better. Ok, I got the battery and the screwdriver. I have to be fair, replacing the battery was straightforward. Not difficult at all. The most difficult thing was getting the fresh battery out of its packaging. But for the unit, the old battery popped out, new battery slipped in and the back and screws aligned easily. I should be good for maybe 2 years.

My daughter is 15 years old, 11 years post-Fontan and was recently diagnosed with Heart Failure. I have looked for videos of people with Fontans for quite awhile. I’m so happy to have found you! We just started a channel to share her story as well, hoping to bring hope to others.
My daughter just got scheduled for this procedure. Thank you for the info.!
How come no more videos
Thank you for a very informative and reassuring video, im having one fitted a fortnight from now 16th September 2024, I've been terrified but you have put me at more ease than I had before viewing your presentation, again thank you ever so much, love from David, the cowardly lion. ♥️♥️
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Cardi Cath. I am 57 years old and in excellent physical condition, however, after a long time of high cholesterol (LDL0 I had a CT with contrast of my heart. What prompted this was my calcium score doubled in 5 years from 92 to 190. After the CT, they found that my coronary arteries are 80% blocked. I have a stress test next week with echocardiogram and we will see if a cardi cath is in my future. (My GP says yes) I am less afraid, but still scared after watching your video. We will see how this proceeds. My cardiologist also said to me that I need to address my gall bladder. I have a 2cm gall stone that has been there for years. I have never had any issues with it, but it showed itself in previous MRI's for other parts of my body. The cardiologist says that if I leave it I could develop cancer. WHAT?? I really don't want to remove my gall bladder, but would be curious of your experience with this surgery and post op changes. I only bring this up because you have had this surgery. Thank you again for sharing your experience and I wish the best with hopes of you getting the answers you need.
I am scheduled to have my gall bladder removed on October 8, 2024. Mine, too, is at 4% according to the HIDA scan. A bit scared of surgery, but know it has to be done. Praying everything goes well.
Mine is Oct 15. I have an attack twice a year and it's like knocking on deaths door.
How is your surgery go
@@syedadilsyed3570 surgery went well ❤️🩹 third day beginning and able to almost be back to normal. I still have to take it easy and sore. In one week I should be good and after two I should be nearly healed. Thanks.
@@tresjolieme81 I'll be praying for you that all goes well. I was anxious but it went smoothly. You'll be fine. Godspeed.
@@bryankreinhart plz pray for me
You’re a sweetheart! Thank you!
Are you single?
Is there any pain after the procedure
Thank you -and I hope you all of the best on your health journey!
Thank you for sharing , im so scared to have this done in two weeks time this has helped a little im just terrified x
Awesome job! I am getting a monitor next week and your video really helped me have some idea what to expect.
Marissa, you are my hero!🎉
Girl, you did a great job explaining what this device is all about. They need to hire you to be their human example 😂. Great job!! I'm going to have one next month. You made this look easy. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.❤❤❤
I'm about to have one implanted. I've seen a couple procedure videos. From them and that detail you went into it seems like a very simple process. I very much know what you mean by cutting down on ER visits. I think also to a large degree it can also help with reducing anxiety which as we all know can make things worse. Thank you again for making this video and prayers tp you and your family!
Prayers. 🙏 I get my implant the end of October.
Can you describe what each lead does? Like is lead to for p waves, location of electrical paths etc etc. I just want to know which is for p waves personally. But thx for the video
The KardiaMobile 6L provides a detailed 6-lead ECG recording, which can be used to evaluate heart health. However, it is important to note that KardiaMobile is primarily a consumer-grade device and is not a substitute for a medical-grade ECG or a diagnosis by a healthcare professional. That said, it can help identify certain heart conditions and abnormalities. --- Applications of KardiaMobile 6L 1. Detection of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib): Helps identify irregular heart rhythms associated with AFib. Useful for patients with a history of AFib to monitor and manage their condition. 2. Bradycardia and Tachycardia: Detects slow (bradycardia) or fast (tachycardia) heart rates. Can indicate conduction issues or stress-related heart rate abnormalities. 3. PVCs and PACs: Identifies premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) or premature atrial contractions (PACs), which may indicate irritability in the heart’s conduction system. 4. ST Segment Abnormalities: Certain ST-segment changes may suggest ischemia (reduced blood flow to the heart), which could indicate early stages of heart block or coronary artery disease. 5. Heart Block Detection (to some extent): First-Degree Heart Block: May show prolonged PR intervals on the ECG trace. Second-Degree Heart Block: Can detect intermittent dropped beats (e.g., Mobitz I or II). Complete Heart Block (Third-Degree): May show a mismatch between atrial and ventricular rhythms. 6. Monitoring Heart Health: Helps patients monitor ECG patterns regularly and share reports with doctors for early intervention. 7. Screening for Electrolyte Imbalances: Indirectly detects abnormalities caused by potassium or calcium imbalances through changes in ECG waveforms. 8. Post-Treatment Monitoring: Tracks heart rhythm after procedures like cardioversion, catheter ablation, or pacemaker implantation. --- Limitations: Heart Block Diagnosis: While it can indicate conduction problems (like heart blocks) by showing irregular rhythms, exact diagnosis (e.g., differentiating between Mobitz I and Mobitz II or assessing complete block severity) requires a 12-lead ECG and evaluation by a cardiologist. Myocardial Infarction: It may show abnormalities like ST elevation/depression but does not confirm a heart attack. --- Can It Guess Heart Block? 1. First-Degree Block: A prolonged PR interval on the ECG can be detected. 2. Second-Degree Block: Intermittent P-waves without QRS complexes may be identified. 3. Complete Block: Independent P-waves and QRS complexes (no relationship) might appear in the recording. For definitive confirmation and treatment, a medical-grade ECG and clinical evaluation are required. --- Conclusion: The KardiaMobile 6L is excellent for preliminary monitoring and detecting rhythm abnormalities, but it cannot replace professional diagnostic tools or expertise, especially for heart block diagnosis. If heart block or other serious conditions are suspected, consult a cardiologist promptly.
@greeting7887 thank u 😊!
How long did you have to wait to be able to drive again after your loop recorder insertion? I am having this done soon and want to know what to expect in that regard.
I was jazz cuz finally they could see the various antics my heart does, inc. Pheochromacytome, but as soon as you mentioned needing internet, I was sunk. Being on SSI, I can't afford it. I have no neighbors (my closest friend died last March) & I only get to town once a week.😢 But Thanks anyway for the brief moment of hope.
It’s horrible kept waking me up screaming at me 🤪
Very informative, thank you
I have the loop recorder implanted 4days ago. Please, does anyone know if the base is supposed dark or light up when plugged in. That’s continuously lite up
Why he didn’t try other dose or other medication before the implant
