Thanks for the video buddy! I got all my coolant ready here to do mine a before winter shows up. Great video and straight to the point with great tips. 👍
Great video. Straight to the point and easy to follow. Getting ready to do my first coolant change on my '18 5.7. Saw one of your comments saying you've done the trans 3x's. Any chance of doing a video for that as well? Thanks.
It may be slightly different since I'm contemplating getting a larger transmission pan. Concept will be the same though. Drain, fill, get to correct temp, drain the excess from the check plug while engine is running, then job finished. Stay tuned.
I have never used one of these fancy funnel devices. Is it highly recommended? Does it just avoid the mess OR does it prevent air from coming back into the system?
I'd say a bit of both. When you bleed the system correctly, I find that you don't have to top off the reservoir as much. The funnel is worth it to me. Thanks for watching.
Thanks doing my 2021 with 54,000 miles how many on your Tundra! Have you done a Transmission service yet I did all diffs and transfer case! At 40,000 miles
Some day you can actually change the tranny fluid too much and Toyota recommends the drain and fill once only as it’s beneficial for some of that friction material to actually be left behind in the old fluid.
@@666dynomax I have done this plenty of times and monitor and reset the ATF degradation on the techstream. ATF fluid changes done properly pose no issue to the transmission no matter how often it is done. Of course I'm only speaking from experience and other people's experiences can vary.
@@jcavidz So many people don't understand how to properly take care of such an expensive investment. Many think it is excessive. I used to do all of my service work but at 72 years, just not that easy anymore. I have been a HD owner for over 40 years and did all of my own maintenance and repairs. I always bought the sevice manuals. The last HD I bought I have now. 2021 Tri Glide. It comes with two large manuals. $300 for both. But with all that manual, I still take it to the dealer. Just don't have the equipment to do the maintenance. I love my Tundra.

Glad to be of help! Happy wrenching.

Thank you! As soon as I get the chance, I'll get the video uploaded.
@jcavidz right on! 👍🏻 I'm gonna do my coolant and probably ATF change this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for your video. Thanks!

@@jcavidz Awesome! What pan did you go with?

My 2018 gets done tomorrow. 2 gallons Toyota pink, about $55 10.7.2024
I had to use near 3 gallons after draining the radiator and the block.
So you need 4 gallons
5/16 hose. Is that ID? Just want to have the right stuff on Amazon.
Thanks for the great video.
5/16 ID will work. Thanks for watching.
1:20 two in the front three in the back. Imagine that
Lol wat
What about running heater to get the coolant cycled and burped?
Yes, I ran the heater, but apparently it is not necessary and the coolant circulates to the heater either way.

Just reached 30k on my 2020. I've done the transmission service 3 times already lol. Diffs and transfer case are next.

Good to hear. Too many people neglect simple maintenance and almost always pay ten fold for it later
Jan 21 2025 Toyota Dealership, $201.00. They Have the Tool to pressure Flush it all out. I feel it's worth it. 2015 Tundra 5.7.
Whatever works for you!
Coolant should be drained and filled every 50, 000 miles. No need to try removing all of the coolant. NEVER FLUSH
I got near 13 qt of coolant out just draining the radiator and the block. I agree, never flush.
