Amazing. Steve Vai is just jaw dropping. He can make any guitar sing and for he should be considered as on of the best players of all time. No question.
Steve Vai is amazing, however, in spite of all his chops and musicianship, somehow Nigel Tuffnel from Spinal Tap's guitar solo comes to mind. Because of how great a musician Steve is though, he's entitled. Also, his fans seem to love it so rock on Steve! Thanks for posting this, liondeeg.
when steve vai plays or other great and talented musicians, they 'feel' the music that they are playing and it is very energetic and emotional. that is why they make the facial expressions they do. do not make fun of them for it. but it is a bit funny sometimes. I wonder if he laughs at himself doing that when he watches this?
Touche. A valid point at last. All I'm saying is, I don't like Jimi. I think he's overrated. But then again, he may be overrated for a reason. Alot of people think my favorites are too... But really, I'm bored an like arguing. But this one is done. Thanks for it!
Sleepy, you made a good point in reference to my previous point (which I think you removed). That kind of noodling is not my cuppa tea, but I know there are things I like that others can't stand.
I personally find it funny how technically incompetant guitarists get jealous at people like steve vai and try to use stupidity to try and back up their idiotic claims.
this is just a nice opening showy off piece to warm up the audience, before the (bizarre choice) opening track. christ he can play. got to be my favourite all round guitarist. just wish he rocked out more.
I think that three necked model he had on the vid is custom made for him, I don't think you get the exact spec in any normal shop. One is 12 string, one is a seven string and the middle one is his sig make and model six srting one.
ones for a different purpose without having to change guitar, one neck is fretless, one is just a normal guitar and the top is a 12 string. so obvious he uses the bottom one for slide, 2nd one for everything and top one for resonant chords
Hm, strangely my first comment vanished... I said I didn't like this at the beginning and was quite disappointed with it, but after 6:20 I got more into it and found the rest really enjoyable...
if he didnt have any emotion he wouldent have transcribed every frank zappa song at the age of 17, that shows he cares enough about music enough to let people learn it.
the worlds best guitarist only use these 3 brands in popularity order, gibson, ibanez, fender. so far all my fav musicians use ibanez guitars and basses.
Am I hallucinating or at 9:43 does another guy actually come up behind Steve Vai and begin making extremely pleasured faces while thrusting in rhythm with him and reaching around him to sensuously stroke his guitar neck?
That's the thing about Music Theory. You learn it, and throw it out the window, because frankly, traditional music written with complex rules by a bunch of stuck up people who think they know what music is and don't even play an instrument, sucks. You don't need a degree in theory to know what sounds good.

I was at this show. Im the dumb kid with glasses on my head in the second row from the front with my mouth open in awe.
I love the facial expressions.....simply amazing!
That's such a beautiful thing that Steve Vai does.
Steve=G O D ! ! i love your music..6 UNICO E VIVRAI X SEMPRE!!!!!

Fukin hard to do that live. RESPECT

i just cant stop watching this video
Hendrix was amazing for his time. Good now, but Steve technically blows him out the water, plus Steve touches me emotionally more than Hendrix.

A Steve Vai solo is as much a visual experience as an auditory one.
master of guitar
Magnífico
Holy shit, he can sing too?!?!
What Cant this guy do?
Freakin amazing
I love this. But this video was on here twice already and got deleated both times. I hope this one will stay a little longer.
awesome sonmg i love to hear his songs ^^
I love it !!!! deeper song !!!!!!
epic performance is epic.
0:39: That’s my old Nissan pickup truck! I worked production for this show.
Sleepy, you made a good point in reference to my previous point (which I think you removed). That kind of noodling is not my cuppa tea, but I know there are things I like that others can't stand.
reminds me of the improv intro to cliffs of dover
If you don't play guitar you're not going to get the amazing technical ability he has. He's trying to push the boundaries with his music.
I personally find it funny how technically incompetant guitarists get jealous at people like steve vai and try to use stupidity to try and back up their idiotic claims.
thank you so much
This is a good video foreal.''Steve Vai''.
outstanding !!!
Ele brinca no modo Lidio, ele tem o domínio total desse modo. Muito bommmm
yeah che figata è un grande cazzo!
Appreciate the beauty
@JLittleBass Not exactly... he's fretting the chords on the top neck while Steve strums. Steve is also sensuously stroking the bottom one.
gotta love the fretless :D
Perhaps he has earned the right to indulge the audience for they do seem to enjoy such Vai indulgence!
I've noticed quite a lot of guitarists don't use their pinkys much, it always seems quite strange to me.
A nice Ibanez. Top neck is a 12 string, he next is a 6 string, the last is a fretles neck.
Besides - it looks pretty cool when they're playing together on the same guitar :-)
this is just a nice opening showy off piece to warm up the audience, before the (bizarre choice) opening track. christ he can play. got to be my favourite all round guitarist. just wish he rocked out more.
Oh my god Youre right!
Okay, I can agree with that.

Now THAT'S funny shit , kt !!!

hes a god!
apparently it's a custom ibanez made for the dude. It's 3 jems, one with 12 strings, 1 normal, and the other.. i dunno
that fretless neck sure sounds beautifull:O
shoooooooooooooow
Oh damn... After watching the shred of this song I cannot listen to it normally XD
Love the part from 5:30
Clever idea. They should use slides on bass and violins too.
Intro/rockin in a free world link please
@PindaJoey Neither do I. I only see a guy playing short melodies very fast.
SHREDS!
@guitarjag72 Agree totally with you!!
Are all Steve Vai fans like the guy at 00:32? That would explain a lot. STEVE VAI!!!
I would think that 1 neck is in standard tuning, another neck is in some other tuning, and one is a 12 string
29k views ??? ARE U SEROIUS !?
+5 !!!!!
if he didnt have any emotion he wouldent have transcribed every frank zappa song at the age of 17, that shows he cares enough about music enough to let people learn it.
isnt the no fretted guitar kinda pointless because couldnt you do pretty much the same thing with a slide?? but its still super cool i think
O_____O wowowowwo
the worlds best guitarist only use these 3 brands in popularity order, gibson, ibanez, fender. so far all my fav musicians use ibanez guitars and basses.
my god
2:50 HAIR POWER ACTIVATED
Steve Vai reminds me of the Fonz at the beginning of this vid.
Well, thumbs down me all you want, I loved this :)
@DrNoth i agree with you man!!!!
HOLY POOP LOL AT 5:10
looking at that thing...
suddenly i'm thinking my les paul isn't so heavy any more.
What are the name of these songs ?
i think steve vai was locked in a Cellar. Only given bread water and a guitar to him :D
What is the name of the actual song he performs in this, where he does the singing as well?
Im steve vai....i look dead....
hey man what music are you into?
what song is this
@SamyFOM Haha, thought I was the only person. :)
i know what you mean. you have to wait until the end...
not really taken into account, you can put it back to standard if you want
Origini siciliane … e Vaiii !!!
Am I hallucinating or at 9:43 does another guy actually come up behind Steve Vai and begin making extremely pleasured faces while thrusting in rhythm with him and reaching around him to sensuously stroke his guitar neck?
Haha, hilarious! I've heard a lot about these fake shreds from StSanders and this didn't disappoint.
Vai a zappare la terra, Steve!
wait how the fuck is the song playing in the background when hes doing that crazy ass sherdding?????!~!!!!
I apologize to you, I was on crack v.v
@KokoroSky2 ....dimentichi Satriani, Morello, Petrucci!!! :)
Killer man
when you get this good, your aloud a little self indulgence i think, or else what is it all for

3:17-3:26 lol, Sorry but that looked so wrong haha
Anyway...He's got great guitar skills.
OMFG!? NO CREATIVITY!? Dude! Holy shit i don't even know what to say!
olèèèèèèèèèèè
No, this is the real one. The fake one in hilarios though!
just wanted to say it. :P
come si chiama il bassista??
+1
Yngwie Malmsteen FTW
(((-:
reminds me of kramer from seinfeld
In quel G3 però in confronto a Malmsteen mostra un pò i suoi limiti! Nella session a tre Yngwie é molto superiore quanto a velocità!
Someone didn't watch the whole video...
I Know You'r Here
