  • Documentation of the repairs on my 2010 Toyota Hilux MK6. In his video I weld in one crossmember, cut out and prep for the second.

My 2006 hirustlux is similar, can't believe how bad for rust these are

It's pretty crazy right, it's a common issue with these though. I think all the chassis drain points are too small from the factory, so as soon as any dirt gets in it just blocks up, holds water and we end up with this!

Hey there. Im doing the same with my hilux. Im planning to get it treated with fluid film after im done. Do you recommend removing all the rust with an anglegrinder so it gets all shiny like you did before the weld. Or should i just remove the big flakes and leave it brown

Hi, I would definitely recommend removing all the rust. Otherwise it will just get sealed in and rust from the inside out. That is the reason I replaced mine when I did, I wanted to paint over fresh material. I did miss some areas that will need re-addressing though
Also, I have heard good things about Lanoguard for underside protection, I haven't used it myself (I ran out of time) but people swear by it.

@@dobermann_1992 yeah i heard many good things about lanoguard. But it work like this: it penetrates existing rust and stop it, so it wont develop more. So i wonder if it should be existing rust there for it to work like it should, or if i just should remove it and then treat it with lanoguard 🤔

I bought them from RoughTrax UK, highly recommended, they are oem pieces and shipped out quickly. They usually have stock of them since its so common

Where did you buy it ?

From Roughtrax4x4.com - they stock a bunch of factory toyota parts. The crossmemebers had toyota markings on too, they aren't aftermarket recreations
