I love the animation that not only shows the evolution of the Playstation controller but also shows the room that has ton's of pop culture stuff from the respective era

It skips the ps2 and shows a ps3 controller in an early 2000s backdrop with a ps2 in the back? I get the ps3 used the same shell as the ps2 but the controller looked a lot different than the ps3 controller. That kinda triggers me 🤬

@@GamesbiteRtDLPS2 was Skipped, you can tell because there is no wire and there is a PS button where the analog button should be.
6:12, the reason why there is an issue with the D-Pad (at the time) was that Nintendo had patented the design, which therefore required small changes by sony in order to prevent legal action. Therefore, using Nintendo's design was not possible, and could have risked them being sued if it was regarded by them as too similar.
Now Sony is the ONLY ones using D-Pads as a main controller staple

@@wavyplaysgamesLike all consoles it depends on the context if it is a 3D game like GTA or Zelda BotW it needs the joystick to move smoothly, but if it is a game like New Super Mario Bros. or Cuphead the D-pad is the best choice. Again, it depends on the context.
And if you say that Sony is the only game company that uses the D-pad as a staple you forgot that Nintendo CREATED the damn thing. They always throw the D-pad at people. So no, Sony is not unique with stapling the D-pad.
@@mingolfssonjr3891 I wasn’t saying that Sony is the only one that uses the d-pad. You brung up Cuphead: I haven’t seen anyone use the D-Pad for Cuphead on the switch instead of the joystick. Yes, it’s more comfortable to use the Dpad, don’t get me wrong. but usually lots of people use the joystick for pretty use every switch games. On the other hand, Sony games use the D-pad to control 2d and 3D games. Then again, that’s not the only thing they let you use, there are joysticks on the PS5 controller. Same thing with an Xbox controller. Nobody uses the d-pad in that thing as far as I’m aware. I agree with you that Sony isn’t the only one keeping D-pads alive. I’m just saying that I think most gamers prefer joysticks instead of D-pads. But hey, I respect your opinion.
The reason the PS3 remote added those coloured buttons is for the interactive features found on some Blu-Ray discs. TV Remotes in Europe since 70s to accommodate Teletext, interactive media applications sent using terrestrial TV. The PS3 might also use them for additional buttons when using streaming apps such as Netflix.
A lot of mid-old Sony TV remotes have those, apps usually tell you what the buttons will do on screen
The buttons are also made to leave bookmarks on blu rays
Most modern tvs in the USA have them too

18:40 I feel like those vr treadmills could be such a gigantic increase in immersion. If only they werent doomed to be ultra expensive and not be developed for because of how small the playerbase would be.

There’s Cybershoes, which not a treadmill but do allow you to walk in vr and they’re “only” $350.

The Dualshock 3 will always be the most nostalgiac for me because my brother and I grew up on the PS3.
1:56 The color buttons was a standard for older blu-Ray movies. The idea was that it would allow the film publisher to utilize the buttons for extra features and what not. It never got utilized and it end up being kind of pointless and was phased out by the early 2010s

10:34 I found out about this feature when I was playing metal arms glitch in the system. The game utilizes this feature by charging up a blast.

4:56 - Huh, I thought I was going crazy, so I just checked - and yeah, mine moves! It's the SLEH-00448 (also got 'mesmerize' there, back in the day, and definitely remember seeing it in the Store, but never got the Fish Tank one)
A lot of the PlayStation controllers feel very breakable like with 3 and 4 the primary PlayStations I owned I felt like I could snap them across my leg with enough force. DualSense for the PS5 feels the nicest out of the PlayStation controllers for me.

Ofc the PS5 DualSense Controller feels the nicest, this one feels a lot like an Xbox 360 controller and that's nice because Microsoft made better controllers so it's nice that Sony made the PS5 DualSense more comfortable than the past ones.

I actually prefer the style of d-pad with separate buttons. I find it too easy to press the wrong direction on other d-pad types

5:12 i actually played the eyetoy game when i was a kid, but i only remember a tiny bit about what the game does, including the ability to use the camera as a "spytoy"
Tbf Ps2 singstar mic togheter with the USB adapter was a pretty good PC mic if you didnt have an mic.
(Yes it worked on a pc and had a pretty good sound compared too that time)

In terms of VR motion sickness, if you play enough, you'll usually get used to it and won't feel motion sick. But, moving in place can help sometimes. This is coming from someone who used to get motion sick but not really anymore
I was not expecting another PlayStation video
You can actually control games with the PS2 remote. This counts for any PS1 game and any PS2 game as long as the back of the box says “Digital Control” on the bottom, Analog Control games won’t work. It sounds insane but do give it a try, it’ll be a fun experiment.
i tried playing LEGO Batman with it, and it actually worked (probably because you can also move your character using the D-pad)
I remember playing NCAA Football with it and couldn't aim kicks.

as a kid i used to play buzz games with my siblings and mom a lot lmao.
also! they werent just used for the quiz games! there were party games that centered around that controller.
oh and also i loved the eye toy. they had it at this place we went after school.
3:30 we used to had ps2 buzz and maybe we just overplayed. But these things fried out on us. Then we got the wireless ps3 buzz game and boy was it fun with my fam
There’s a couple ways to deal with VR motion sickness. Like standing up and walking in place whenever you move OM game. Or use snap turning. Other than that I think it’s just a matter of playing VR more you eventually build up your legs and can stay in for longer periods of time!

Btw you forget the "new" dual shock 4.
The physical difference is basically just a lighstrip on the touchpad. But it has slightly better batteries, and analog rubbers that won't just crumble after a while like on the original ds4.
There's no reason to get the original ds4 after the v2 came out.
I'd like to add to the PSVR bit- Some games just let you teleport instead of moving with the joystick, check the settings of the games to see if that exists. Not sure if it exists for the game you were talking about but still, it exists for most days.

For some reason, your PlayStation ranking list made me love the PlayStation franchise. It may be because of my ADD but still I do like both ranking lists
For various reasons, I've stopped buying Sony consoles and Sony games, BUT the one thing I can never shake is using a DualShock for my PC gaming. Joycons drift. My Gamecube Switch Pro Controller has an off-center octagonal gate and the c-stick's sensor gets "stuck" reading downwards. Xbox controllers are all right, but I never liked the ergonomics. But Sony still to this day makes the best damn controllers on the planet. My nearly-8-year-old DS4 still has rigid af sticks with zero drifting or deadzone issues after years of heavy usage, and the only reason I replaced the thing was because the membrane behind the face buttons began to finally wear down to the point of feeling mushy and the face buttons were literally starting to wear away and dissolve from all the abuse.
Just bought a new DS4, and I expect it'll last me another 8 whole years. Top-notch controllers.
23:39 I like the design but the glossy black plastic doesn't look good. If you noticed, a lot of phone companies switched to a matte finish to prevent fingerprint smudges and I think a matte black would've been nice.
16:05 that’s what the oculus series kind of solves, it has full room tracking so you move in game when you actually move.
Also for 18:35 , that problem is solved by VR treadmills, but that’s always going to take tons of space and be expensive.
Sure, the quiz game for the buzz was mid, but buzz junior were dope as hell. I own all of 'em bar one, and they used to be really fun. Haven't played recently due to them not working anymore, but still really fun, from what I remember.
I have tired to use the sing star on a computer and if you have a WORKING one it will actually function extremely well as a option to most expensive mics
Fun fact: A similar set of Buzz controllers were used for Disney’s Think Fast, without the branding. The Wii version uses motion controls.
About the variable imput buttons, the only games that I know that used that feature was gran turismo 5 and 6 for variable breaking/acceleration.

There was definitely other Buzz games. Also there was sets of Buzz remotes that had non coloured in buttons, They had coloured rectangles instead

Looking at the Duelsense Edge, I think it is less about ‘pro’ and more about accessibility. The customizable trigger depths, replaceable joysticks, and the bottom buttons all are ways to help those with mobility issues with their hands. My wife uses a Switch controller with bottom buttons because it helps her arthritis.

I used the microphone on some games in the past and it worked fine.
Maybe it's just your microphone being stale but I can't argue about your opinion on the Singstar Microphone, Nathaniel.

I am pretty sure the most useful aspect of the ps eye is that it is used for psmoveservice, which was used for diy move vr controllers on pc.

18:44 me as a vr player from 2021 cuz i heard of the quest 2 after my friend showed me his quest 1 i was like wow i can have the better headset so i got it and for me i never had any vr sickness but also for those who’s never played it or put many hours into games like that gotta keep playing then you’ll get used to it over time. Everybody does

This is unrelated to the video, but what happened to the MK8DX Wave 4 Livestream? I saw it in my recommended while you were live, but it completely disappeared when I looked for it a couple hours later.
"Buzz! Master Quiz" isn't the only Buzz game. We also have the minigame Buzz games! THAT ARE AMAZING. They hold my childhood

The PS3 TV remote was made with PSTV in mind, it was a little box that plugged into your PS3 and could be used as a freeview box. I had one and it was decent.
Rumble was missing from the Sixaxis controller because of a pending lawsuit.
I wish for the ps5 remote is that either the Spotify button or have an extra button in-between the streaming and PS button be a programable button where you can select what app you want it to open and the reason i chose the Spotify is simply i dont use the Spotify app on Playstation outside of having background music for games to justify its own button for me but even with the extra steaming button it would be nice to set it to whatever app you use most outside of the preset 4 like ESPN, Crunchyroll, TH-cam TV, etc

I still remember when the dual shocks with 2 analogue sticks came out! It was so revolutionary! Before that we had to use the d pad to play fps games which was restricted a lot! Not to say medal of honour games where bad because of this but having more control over moving and aiming separately was revolutionary!

The dual sense edge is the most solid controller I’ve ever held. And the easy replaceable sticks needs to be on more controllers.
My friend and I have very similar DVD players yet our remotes have different button lables for what the buttons do that say like Netflix or Hulu or whatever and I tested it and they both work on each other's DVD players.
Also yes I use the word DVD player when obviously I mean Blu-ray. That's how you can tell I'm an older person. Also I'm still calling you a DVD player even if it doesn't have DVD functionality like a Roku.

also the dualsense controller's haptic feedback is most likely accomplished using speakers; i once put my ear near my controller while selecting menus of genshin impact's archive and i heard the sound of turning a page, the same sound heard through the console's audio output device

19:08 there were wireless ps2 controllers before the six axis. They would have a receiver that plugged into the ps2 controller port and the remote would send inputs to it
They were all third-party
The separated d-pad makes rhythm games easier to play (Cough cough project diva)
