If you think the music of Wario: Master of Disguise is "relaxed" and/or "boring", you clearly haven't heard enough of it yet... Which to be fair, maybe you haven't, but I always found that game's OST is rather underrated, it's got a lot of killer tracks in there!
It’s the most ironic thing that Wario and his Platformers over the years showed way more creativity and wackiness than what we see with Mario even to this day

Two things to note:
1. There's a convention I regularly go to in my home state, and Mega Party Game$ is one of the games they almost always have in their game room.
2. Wario Land 1/Super Mario Land 3 was the *only* Wario Land game I actually ever owned. So yes; I did play that one.
Glad to see Wario Land 4 getting the respect it deserves! It has a charm unlike not just any other Wario game, but any other Nintendo game overall. It's honestly hard to describe just how kingly it is!
Maybe even Pizza tower might generate some more interest in the Warioland series since it takes a lot of the Elements from Warioland 4.

It's a really strange situation. People were BEGGING for a new WarioWare ever since the Switch first came out, and when it finally happened... no one talked about it after the first three days

How in the hell do we not have a Wario World 2? That game was so damn good.
Probably because it would have followed the pattern & not been a true Wario World Sequel. Wario World was too much of a beat em up for a collectathon in my opinion, so it is only mid tier on my list. As for the pattern it could have been something as drastically different as Yoshi's Island was from Super Mario World.
More importantly, how do we not have Wario Land 6?
I am so happy you made this video! I am unironically a huge Wario fan! Most of his games are underrated gems! I mean, the Wario Land games all the way up until the fourth(/fifth including the Virtual Boy game) were actually some of the greatest games on their respective consoles! No joke! And WarioWare was such an insane and creative direction to take Wario, perfectly utilizing some of the unique features of the console! The Wario puzzle games were also pretty fun too and I think there is some potential in a new Wario puzzle game!

Warioland 3 is still one of my favourite platformers of all time. A real crown jewel in my GBC library!
Wario Land 3 Sweeps
WL3 was my most played GBC game under the covers at night (with a Wormlight of course) next to Pokemon Silver - and I played that a LOTTTT. It was so cool seeing the different ways levels changed between day and night and after finding certain treasures, finding all the paths/exits/keys. I also played the Golf minigame on the toilet for years, once I unlocked it.
That said, WL2 blew my mind the first time I "finished" it. I just assumed you played the game through and that was it, like most other games....but next thing I knew, I was looking at a giant web of levels on a level select screen, with the path I took revealed, but tons of unseen branching paths and alternate endings. I hadn't even played half the game yet. I spent so much time looking for all the hidden exits to get the unique endings. I always thought it was fascinating that, if you knew what you were doing, you could have found an ending in just a few levels from the beginning - but the game does a good job of leading you to the "proper" ending the first time through.

Shame that WL3 is ranked below 2. I think WL3 is the better game.

The best thing I love about the Wario series as a whole as the sheer variety of enemies that Wario faces. Mario? 90% Bowser with some unique bosses here and there. Wario? Fights things like demonic clowns, demons, and giant one-eye jewels on a daily basis!

I really want a new Wario land game on Switch, it would be so amazing to be able to collect gold and become filthy rich in HD graphics.
The fact that they actually patched the final boss in the Japanese version of Wario World. The Black Jewel gets a new final boss phase that’s actually fun with the music changing and you laying more of a smack down on it.
I love Wario Master of Discuise, and I like that you play it one handed so you can draw with the other hand, which yes X works for jump too, and once you get used to it, changing between descuises becomes very quic and even a little satesfying at times, pluss the story is just bonkers stupidly funny which I love, and there, a mini review that was really quicly and shittily throw together from someone who actually likes the game
I really do love the characters in this game. From Count Cannoli constantly trying to get his wand back from Wario eventually growing to respect him at the end to Carpaccio being an arrogant rich guy who is actually trying to prevent the world from being destroyed. I've played the game beginning to end and I will say, the disgusie change system isn't perfect. I remember during a boss fight (it was against that flower boss) I had to quickly go from Arty Wario to Cosmic Wario and I would end up with a different disguise like with Genius Wario. Other than that, it's a fun game. And I was sad he didn't mention the AWESOME soundtrack. Look up Count Cannoli's battle theme and you can't tell me it isn't a banger lol
To each their own! It wasn't really for me, but at the very least I do admire that it tried something very different

I was in elementary when i played it but it loved it tbh. As a non-gamer it was one of the first games i played to the end.

You know what would have been cool? WarioWare DIY for the Wii U! It certainly would have been much better than the Wario game we got for Wii U instead. I think Nathaniel ranked it a little low, but that just goes to show how great other Wario games are. WarioWare DIY was such an amazing idea and was well-executed but was sorta held back by the DS. Even when it released, it felt a little limited! Now imagine that same idea expanded on a home console with major improvements! I don't need to explain the improvements if you have played WarioWario DIY before. Dang it, Nintendo! You made the Wii U, with a lot of potential and you never did much with it! I mean, maybe we can still get it on Switch, but it wouldn't be nearly as intuitive in my opinion.
Speaking of missed opportunities... Wario Land Virtual Boy... on 3DS... Need I say more?

Wario's Woods has controls for kicking, picking up single pieces, dropping them under you etc. and other moves aren't immediately apparent without a manual especially on the NES. It's a good puzzle game on both systems when you know how to play.

Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is absolutely one of my favourites, soundtrack and art style is very underrated
I bought it a year ago but couldn’t get into it … i was disappointed
If this game came to Switch I don't think it would need to be updated at all beside just upscaling it so its not blurry on a 720p or 1080p display. And of course having the option to remove the motion controls for those that don't like them or if they mess with the fan when playing in handheld mode. I'd make you waggle the stick around as a replacement.
Master of Disguise is one of my favourite games on the DS, even if it has a lot of flaws.
Its just really charming.
EVEN WITH the wifi and online functionality, man i've spent so much on diy, especially as a kid. You can actually make a surprising amount of games, with surprising complexity, with me creating several im still quite proud of today. This was also the game that got me into WarioWare, which has now become one of my favourite tame franchises, along with rhythm heaven. Such a great game, I understand how you placed it low, but it's still such an underrated gem that would have SO MUCH POTENTIAL if they brought it back

Little detail about Wario Land 4 that you missed out:
The idle animations. In the basic gameplay, his idle animations are relaxed, he's playing with a skipping rope and really just vibing.
When you're exiting the level and racing the timer, he hurriedly runs in place, visually panicked.
Wario Land deserves more games. And man, I LOVE that first one. Wish they’d try another like that with all the hidden goodies.

I'm glad you loved Wario Land 4 as well. It was actually the first Wario game I played (other than Wario's Woods) and is honestly the perfect introduction to the series.
Whoever voiced Wario in that animation, Amazing Job on making it sound like the original voice. The way he said “I’m a-gonna get a-ranked!”. So encouraging. There’s a reason why Wario is one of my top favorite characters in the Mario Universe

It was a good call for Nathaniel to make WarioWare Gold the best WarioWare game on this list, as it's basically a 4 in 1 WarioWare game! Featuring elements from other games in the series and few of its own ideas as well! It is truly the perfect base WarioWare game that I can basically show my friends and have a good time with! I was worried that the hiatus between Game and Wario and WarioWare Gold would make Intelligent Systems lose their touch, considering WarioWare Snapped, Game and Wario, and WarioWare DIY Showcase weren't exactly highlights for Wario, but they ended up making a real underappreciated masterpiece here!

Despite it's flaws, I really do enjoy the pixel art graphics of Wario: Master of Disguise.
And yeah the music (and game in general) of Wario Land Shake It/Shake Dimension was made by the same people who made Kirby's Epic Yarn and Yoshi's Woolly World. Those games also great and also have great music. Too bad the music composer (Tomoya Tomita) got ditched when they made Yoshi's Crafted World and yeah the music in that one is not impressive at all.
I love how ever since Bandy's Universe Nathaniel has been including animation in his other videos, really helps with giving his channel even more of a personal touch.
I grew up with wario land 4. Got it and a gba from goodwill for 10 bucks, and I was addicted. I was never any good when I was little, but as I’ve grown much older, the bright colors and creative sounds haven’t gotten old and have aged like fine cheese.
7:55 To take devils advocate here, I honestly felt that Game & Wario was pretty good for what it was. Don’t get me wrong, A WarioWare on the console would’ve been sick, but it was really cool seeing the gamepad be used in creative ways, and some of the minigames weren’t too bad either. There are some bad mini games like Design & Ski, but I had some fun playing games like Shutter, Taxi and of course Gamer. It’s obviously worse than the WarioWare series but I kinda liked it.
Edit: Same thing for WarioWare Get It Together. To this day, ever since I wrote about Game & Wario, I've been attached to these 2 games and WarioWare Gold. I feel like being challenged with microgames & characters that don't go well together is part of the fun of Get It Together. If a character is a bad fit with a microgame, you gotta deal with it.
The multiplayer games of Game and Wario are actually amazing, you're not really getting the full experience if you don't try those out. Fruit was the star of every family gathering I had as a kid.

Wario Land Shake It is an underrated gem. It was the first Wii game my family owned together with Wii Sports.

Wario's Woods is simply amazing dude, both on NES and SNES, they are one of the best puzzles games on the system. It deserves a better place, that's for sure.
Wario's Woods for the SNES is also the first game where Toad has a Voice.

Devastated that my longtime favorite Game Boy Color game, Wario Land 3, lost out to two other amazing games. I'm glad that Gold and Touched are exactly where I'd put them, at the top of their pile
I don't know which game it was but I remember playing a Wario game on the Wii when I was about 9 and absolutely loving every single second of it
Was it a platformer or a microgame collection (assuming it was a wii disc) the platformer is Wario Land Shake Dimension, the other is Wario Ware Smooth Moves. The fact that you know it was a Wario Game for Wii makes it easy to find it. If you still have your Wii you could check for its Save Data.

Really stinks Wario: Master of Disguise is #21 because I think the idea wasn’t that bad. You use different costumes and it gives Wario new abilities, but remembering how to draw them could be a issue if you never play the game in a while…

Wario land: Shake it! Will forever be one of my favorites ever. It looks amazing, the boss fights are incredible and very different from one another and it just reminds me a lot of what it was like to play on the Wii with my dad 💗

I recently got into the wario land games as well & 4 is definitely the most refined but I found myself enjoying 2 or 3 more then 4. I really enjoyed the fact that you have no health bar so you can really just do whatever you want

Yes, I played the first Wario Land, and really enjoyed it. It had a lot of character that was very unique for the time. I particularly enjoyed the food theme of the map/overworld for some reason. The power-ups were also just fun and different from the usual Mario stuff. It was definitely a very mild outing though, compared to what followed.

I love how the final boss fight of Wario Land Shake It is a reference to the fight against Dracula in Rondo of Blood (and Symphony of the Night).
Shake it and Touched were the only 2 I've played but the amount of fun I had playing them was insurmountable

Finally some love for Wario World. I remember playing that game for 11 hours straight with only minor food breaks, when it came out.
That was a *golden* intro.
I think part of why twisted works so well is that the gyro essentially is recalibrated between each microgame, aka every 5 seconds or so.
And Virtual Boy Wario is basically a predecessor to the 3DS Kirby games.

I remember people being really shocked about the foreground background transition thing and then people were posting remember virtual boy Warrior Land had it first.
@@bland9876 Could've sworn mutant mudds 3DS was a re-release... but if it was developed for 3DS, than it's NO WAY it came out before Warioland virtual boy edition, as that was released in 1995.
(granted technically looking into MM's history, it was originally developed as a totally different game for the DS, but that's just a most irrelevant random trivia point)
@@sinteleon I meant that mutant muds came out before Kirby Triple deluxe or Planet robobot and use the foreground background switching thing like Mario Wonder.
Wario Land II was my favourite game boy game. I could spend hours bashing my head against a wall to make progress and still be loving every second.
Seeing that you enjoyed Wario Land 4 you should try pizza tower! Its a really REALLY good platformer thats really similar sharing a lot of mechanics

smooth moves got shafted. Easily top 3 imo. But Wario land 4 is still the best overall. Also mega micro games is really good
