The fact that Sakurai had the patience to deal with Disney's bs just to get Sora into the game is an undefeatable feat in and of itself!

Apparently it wasn’t Disney of Japan that was being stingy about Sora in smash though, it was Tetsuya Nomura who was conflicted with adding Sora in smash because he felt it would confuse the lore of the character, which is weird

5:17 Fun Fact: The main menu/UI designer for pretty much all of Masahiro Sakurais games since Smash 64 is actually his wife, Michiko Sakurai (neé Takahashi, they seem to have married between Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Kid Icarus: Uprising). I feel like she is a bit underrated for how much she contributes to Sakurais games and their charm.
Couldn't believe it! I had to look her up!
I do respect her work, but maybe it wouldn't be so underrated if it wasn't so hard to find anything about her. The only image avaibable of her is the infamous photo where she is eating, that says a lot about how little of a figure she is, a real shame.
Kid Icarus needs a new game or atleast a port to the switch. It was phenomenal and I hope the series keeps the same genre

kid Icarus is one of my favorite 3ds games. personally never had a problem with the controls but i was also way younger back then.
also got like a bunch of cards with it to use with the 3d hologram feature and a bunch of goodies, nintendo really knew how to spoil us back then.
Sakurai is truly an artist in gaming design and i can't wait to see what this man well cook next

It's very fitting that Sakurai is the lead designer of SORA Limited, who is a name of a very famous character who got into smash! He is a very nice man and gave us so many amazing games, he even really likes minecraft XD!
You see, guys, Masahiro Sakurai makes some of the best art in the Nintendo network.
Not only did he create an iconic video game character and revived another, but he also made the best game franchise ever AND Nathaniel Bandy’s catchphrase.

The Kirby series is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises.
Extremely adorable, very easy with some pretty hard challenges (like some True Arenas and secret levels) and they have such a Feel Good vibe that makes it a joy to play them.
Not to forget the copy ability system is still on fire to this day.
It's a wonderful series, but the true arena was notably a post-sakurai edition
Like I cannot describe enough how much kirby changed my life, to make to a person who is freindly but on gaurd when things go wrong, the wonderful veraity of characters, the copy abilities which was my introduction to the himmick of taking power from your enemies which I didn't knew anyone else before and heck I say it give me to see it for dofferemt franchises or games like mega man, metroid fusion and dread, castlevania's sorrow doulogy to name a few, the gameplay is easy to play but hard to master and the stories is the true textbook how to make a lighthearted tone to dark one with a great pacing and taking time without feeling you rushed to a story moment and left jarring, combat is just peak for me I can praise the franchise in many angles and while I know it have flaws like any gaming franchise I say is the least flawed gaming franchise ever I know personally
And still, people try to avoid the games just because the characters are cute, i even saw someome say they don't play the game just because kirby is pink, that was the saddest thing a hearded in my life.

He has always been one of my favorite developers of all time, I just recently got Smash Ultimate and Sakurai and his team definetely made an insane work with it, let's remember that Smash 4 developement ended on 2016 so Ultimate only had a 2 year developement time and it was also the promise Sakurai made to Iwata.

Masahiro Sakurai has TRULY become one of my top favourite idols in entertainment in the last decade ever since the announcement of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U back in 2013 (RIGHT NEXT TO YOU and your TH-cam channel, Nate)... and now that I'm currently about to study Game Development and Design myself for the next 3 years in a brand-new college... I REALLY hope that I'll be able to find MY OWN creative path in the entertainment that might make Sakurai himself proud someday...

26:45 Meteos seems like the perfect kind of game to actually release on smartphones and tablets today. You said it yourself you'll control fastest using the touch screen of the DS. I had a lot of fond memories of the DS even though I was already an adult by the time I actually got one Actually I was 17 when I got one in 2005 so basically I had the DS throughout young adulthood but anyway I think a game that is perfect on the DS sadly yes you're right it can't really be released a modern platforms but surprisingly I think it technically could work on a smartphone due to touch controls. And I'd be all for it. That game looks awesome!
This might be a hot take; but in my opinon Kid Icarus Uprising is Sakurai's greatest game. With Melee and Ultimate being a close second and third respectively.

I thought Kid Icarus would always work well on Wii U! The GamePad's touchscreen and analogue stick could work just like the 3DS, but you could also use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck as well! Missed Opportunity as well.

For kid icarus uprising if you put your 3ds on your knee and look down on it, it makes the controls much more comfortable.
Meteos is my favorite game as well, but I got introduced to it by another puzzle series known as "Lumines" made by Tetsuya Mizuguchi who worked along Sakurai in Meteos.

I definitely have a lot of nostalgia, but melee is still legit. I remember pre smash 4 bringing my gamecube with melee to college and getting friends over to play. Then 1 night we played brawl that a guy brought on his wii and went back to melee in future sessions because we enjoyed how much better it felt to play.

Kirby's Adventure still has one of the best and hardest final bosses in Kirby history. I can only imagine how out of left field it felt for players back in the day. We're used to Eldritch horror in Kirby's final bosses nowadays, but it must have felt so fresh back in the day.

I played Smash 4 mostly on the 3DS because I actually had that instead of the Wii U at the time. I would bring it to school and do multiplayer with friends at lunch. And it’s still my preferred version of Smash 4. I feel like I had a Wii U for all of 1 year before the switch came out and started getting all its best games on it.

Also, I think it's funny that Kid Icarus Uprising gave everyone hand cramps, because I speedrun Metroid Prime Hunters (That one Metroid game on the DS everyone forgot about), which has similar controls (Shoot=L, move w/ D-pad or Circle Pad), except it's actually worse because the touch screen is also used to activate the Scan Visor, switch weapons, and use Morph Ball. I won't say the controls aren't bad, but I've been so accustomed to cramping that I'm blind to it.

Sakurai is the person who made me love video games with brawl being my first one that I played with my brother when I was three. Kirby was the first character I played because we played sub space first and he picked Mario so I wanted to go against him and now Kirby is my favorite fictional character ever

As I continue to grow as a person, one thing that I continually remind myself is that it's okay to have differences in opinion. Frankly, that makes gaming discussions much more interesting.
Based on that, I respect your thoughts on Smash 4. Both 3DS and Wii U comprise my favorite Smash game, though I am slightly more biased towards Wii U. Something about the extra use of colors throughout and the museum-like variety of modes continues to charm me even today. I appreciate that Wii U is on your top five.
Ultimate, however, is _really_ good. Bringing everybody back from all the Smash games, adding banger newcomers, having over 100 playable stages and 1000+ songs to enjoy make it a worthy contender indeed. Classic Mode is also excellent. I do miss reading trophies and having Masterpieces and a few other modes from 3DS and Wii U, though.
Kirby's Adventure is one of my favorite Kirby games. While Amazing Mirror might have been the first game I got into, Adventure is what shaped my love for the series. The introduction of Copy Abilities alone makes it engaging. Nightmare in Dream Land, however, is my overall favorite Kirby game. The enhanced graphics go a long way, and I enjoy the new Meta Knightmare mode.
You are the first person I saw that _doesn't_ universally praise Kirby Air Ride. Most folks proclaim it as this god-tier racing experience. Me? I like Air Ride just fine; the City Trial mode is easily the star attraction, although the core racing is pretty fun too.
Really, Mr. Sakurai has a magnificent reputation with his games; between all the SSB titles and the early Kirby games, he knows what's up with video gaming. Even if I haven't played everything (like Meteos and Kid Icarus Uprising), he has earned a great deal of respect.

Dude honestly I loved the 3ds version and played it much more than the Wii U version, and yes I played it on the go 😂, people at my high school when I was still in school used to bring their 3ds and play smash so yeah ppl used to play smash 3ds on the go too

I like all Smash bros games i had a blast playing Them all starting with melee fallowing with browl and then smash 4 on wii u and then smash 4 on 3DS and then back in time with smash 64 and then finally smash ultimate each have ther ups and downs but it’s a wonderful series i like them despite the limitations of some
