You are left with Athos' on a journey to stop his old friend without using overpowered tomes.

Athos: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!
While most players knew Luna is broken, but they won't expect that Athos' base stats are actually higher than an average Canas at 20/20, and you don't have to painfully grind for all the weapon ranks, or even EXP at all. He joins in at maxed level with decently high stats to boot.
Just give him quintessence, I mean Nosferatu, and Athos can solo the whole map by himself. Statboosters for reassurance, berserk/sleep staves for fun. Luna/effective tomes for an easier time.
When I saw the 91% berserk chance on Lloyd, I immediately thought of Renault's 19%. Powercreep is real.
Fun Fact: Athos' base stats (overall) is higher than almost all of the other characters' average stats at 20/20, which even includes Nino, the Est archetype who is known for high growth.

It's kinda weird that items created by Nergal, or characters raised due to his decision, are able to counter him.
Kishuna: A "failed" morph created by Nergal.
This magic seal might be the only thing who can stop Athos. It's ironic how Nergal calls Kishuna worthless when the latter is the one who can also make Nergal worthless in battle.
Uber Spear (Vaida's): A regular spear imbued with dark magic by Nergal.
If Darin had this spear, he could really rule the world like he wanted. This spear fixes most of his weaknesses, low speed and res. This spear is so strong that even an unpromoted unit can receive zero damage from Nergal with the help of Barrier and Nini's Grace.
Nino(?): The moment when Nergal spares baby Nino because he sees her magic potential, stopping Sonia's massacre.
In theory, Nino shouldn't be able to win Nergal because she is Anima-locked, but still, Nino's Journey proves that it is possible.
Jaffar: Because of the above, now Nergal raises 2 characters who will go against him. Imagine another timeline where Nino wasn't spared, then Jaffar will not stray either, and Nergal will have even more collected quintessence in his quest for power.
Ninian/Nils: Chapter 19xx
Despite not playable in the chapter, Ninian was the one who froze the 2 dragons before the party had to fight the remaining one, stopping Nergal's plan to a great extent. Nils on the other hand, joins the party as a refresher to stop Nergal.

And also I save the Luna so that Athos can make use of them later.

It's funny that people think Athos needs luna to be good, or accomplish anything.

Brendan Reed got crit for his exact health on the first Athos' Journey too. Poor guy can't catch a break.
At least he can do some damage before getting crit, unlike a certain assassin.

I thought this game was easy, but fighting this final boss was a brutal battle
this last chapter in general was oddly difficult compared to the rest of the endgame
Now we need modded Fargus journey.
Specifically the one from Eliwood Hard Mode, where he's stronger than he is in any other mode.
Gespent's weight is fun.
It's only possible to double the dragon with it if you have the bonus disc's Body Ring. Because you need to use ALL THREE in order to have enough CON to mitigate its weight penalty to -5 (athos)/ -6 (canas).
So, you have to spend every single body ring (including speedwings) in the game and the bonus disc, just to make one single weapon to double. That certainly sounds fun, almost as fun as using a knight or general in an arena.
Them: Athos isn't getting into FEH, and even if he does he's totally not going to be a Mythic!

Probably the same reason why Kenneth was added in, he is a high ranking officer of the Black Fang. Jerme is just not of a huge threat as the other boss units unfortunately.

My best guess is that the devs wanted to just let you fight all the people who were one of the four fangs at some point. Kinda sucks for them that they forgot pascal tho.
If only Pascal made some appearance in Eliwood mode, then there would be a reason why he appears in the final chapter.
