@ECKohns Echoes was a remake of the second FE game. The weapon triangle didn't exist at the time so they kept it like that for the sake of maintaining the game play of it. Also there were no axe users so even if it was included it would have been a pretty trivial mechanic with a permanent disadvantage for knights, cavaliers and pegasi.

Sayem Fire emblem is a single player game, so using any favorites whether they are low tier will still make you succeed. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with using units that you like. If anything, I’m happier using characters that I like over ones that are good but I dislike. A redditor called SpoonRythm actually played the Elibe games with low tiers and it was probably my favourite play through of the game.

Kent and Sain have better offensive stats and can promote in Lyn hard mode, but Lowen is better defensively (a boon for him since the enemies stats are generally so low that all trained units can ORKO with ease) and better avaiability in Eliwood/Hector mode.

@@littlekuribohimposte weapon triangle against lances helps with hit because at least in the GBA games, tons of enemies use lances, and 1-2 range is much much more important than 20 hit, stats can make up for 20 hit, they can’t make up for 1-2 range.

@@Danmarinja To be fair, though, Fire Emblem is a _very_ tropey series with a lot of repetition of ideas with subtle twists to keep them fresh. It works, so it makes sense that they'd keep doing it, but if you want originality, well, you can trade that for novelty for roughly your first two games or so. After that you're just in it because you like SRPGs and waifus.

@@r.r815 Not really, what it did do (and did very well) was break archetypes. No christmas cavaliers, no Est, no Camus, no Jagen, no 11th hour units. The plot relevant characters do have alot in common with other characters from fire emblem games (but were generally pulled off better in this game than the others). This isn't a bad thing, and is in a very odd way, part of FE's charm. It still has plenty of insane twists in the game though, such as the origins of the crest stones and hero's relics.
Edelgard is reminescent of Arvis and Lyon.
Claude shares alot of concept with Lyn.
Rhea is just straight up Mila.
Jeralt and Greil are plot dads.

@@rifasclub dude I was able to cheese the system by forcing an archer into a closed space, and the only option he had was to damage this one unit that I would keep healing until Lissa was like level 11 or something.

Red cavalier would continue to serve his kingdom, training new recruits to the royal knights. He also never got laid.

Mustafa and Yen'fey, actually. It's a common trope in Fire Emblem, known as the Camus archetype, as that's the name of the first character to belong to such archetype and every FE has at least one character to belong to such group.

Axes in general are considered the top weapon type together with lances, if a sword unit can't use lances or axes at least after promotion they normally are considered rather meh unless they got bonkers stats

It gets even funnier when you realize…In the new Engage game, the blue-haired Lord and magic-wielding Albino are both Dragons (who can use time). 😊
It might have been 3 years, but actually, a plenty of characters here are actually archetypes from Fire Emblem series itself.
The Lord: She is basically a combination of the typical Lord and the female lead (think of Eirika from The Sacred Stones, for example)
The Evil Emperor at the start is probably a nod to Rudolf, an antagonistic Emperor. Sometimes they are actually in league with the real main villain, others might be not and actually have different reasons
Pirate Boss: Gazzak (usually the first boss you fight, leader of some sort of bandits, ruffians, etc.) Bad guy who probably uses axes which are weak against swords that the Lord usually uses,
Childhood Friend: isn't exactly a recurring archetype in actual Fire Emblem games but from how he looks, he's the Merric archetype (a young, friendly male mage, some are literally young boys) - but it also have a sub-archetype, the Arlen, where the mage is more of a prodigy and can be a little jerk, but both aren't necessarily male, some females who do not overlap with the female mage archetype explained later might be either of these instead.
Skeleton Mentor: Of course he is the Jagen archetype. Probably pureJagen if he's gonna be useless soon. If not, it would be an Oifey instead. Pure Jagens are really old or sick in some way, or handicapped, while Oifeys are pretty much really just experienced and still capable.
Crappy Archer: Also known as the Gordin. As his name suggests, he's an Archer, and Archers are often seen as flawed in Fire Emblem games due to being unable to counterattack from near. Some of them are unconfident of themselves, others have varied but generally actually nice personality
Red and Green: Did you mean, Cain and Abel? These are two identical units that almost feels the same aside from different stats, growths - and slightly different personalities, one hot-blooded and the other laid-back - though not in this case for some creepy reason. Despite that, the Cain and Abel archetype isn't restricted to Cavaliers only, though that depends on the case but is usually still the same two Cavaliers.
Cleric: Also known as the Lena. Usually the first "healer" unit you have. The plot involved during their debut scene and personality varies - ranging from Lean herself being captured by bandits and being a love interest to Julian - joining at slightly early game though not the first chapter, to the just plain cheerful Lissa who joins at the very beginning (prologue) - but most of the time, the Lena archetype is really the first healer who is also delicate (don't tell that to Lissa, though!)
Knight: This is more accurately known as the Draug archetype - usually one of the bigger males in the cast list, and they are generally actually humble despite looking strong and big. Personality sucks is subjective, though, this varies on who is who.
Featherweight: Can be classified under either one of the "Whitewings" (trio of Pegasus Knights who are recruited through varying chapters but generally can do their signature technique, the Triangle Attack) or the Caeda archetype (a Pegasus Knight who isn't related to the previous three in any way or is just the first Pegasus Knight you get), but generally one of the Pegasus Knights is gonna be feminine in personality, anyways. (This depiction of Pegasus Knight resembles Florina)
Cute Mage: Here it is, the Linde archetype. The female mage whose personality varies - generally born with a natural affinity for magic. Tends to join later unlike the Merric, as previously mentioned. And as the name implies, they tend to be the more cute looking one. If it's not and they are the first mage, it's overlapping instead with Merric or Arlen (notably, Lute and Miriel are more similar to the latter)
The fat guy: Is likely the typical early game axe unit. This isn't a proper archetype even though I wish it is, but there is also similarly the Bord and Cord archetype, two Fighters - similar to Cain and Abel from above. The difference, the dualism in personality is instead one who really loves getting into fights and the other being a more typical person. This archetype is rarer compared to the Cain and Abel because some games only give you one axe user by default early on, such as in this case.
Furry: Also not widespread to be it's own archetypes, but this is a nod to Laguz in Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn (specifically the Beast Laguz), Taguel in Awakening, as well as Kitsune and Wolfskin in Fates. As you probably expect this is is the shapeshifting type unit that doesn't turn into dragon or something. On the other hand...
"Definitely Illegal": Ah, the Tiki archetype! Looks like a young girl (or boy in case of Kurthnaga, but he's a little different and still is mostly the same), but is really at least several hundred years old. The one appearing in this video looks like Fae from FE Binding Blade, but from sound wise, just imagine of Nowi from FE:Awakening.
Random Old guy: The Gotoh archetype. Generally they aren't always old or act like in this video, but instead they are someone well known and yet doesn't join until the very last chapter or few chapters, depends. Their class varies, of course, but generally they are here to help you take down the last chapter... just in case you screwed up so badly.
The knife guy / "murderer": Seems to take various elements of Navarre (appears as enemy first and probably has Killing Edge ), and also seems like a Thief in class actually if he wasn't really a prepromoted Assassin. Also slight reference to Julian archetype, which are generally much more nicer than this and is of the Thief class.
The fun and crazy General is kinda like Kempf or Narcian or Valter, the sadistic one too who you can definitely try beat up the heck out of him with no question asked.
The boring General looks is typically either the general who is typically loyal to the empire without question, picture out Murdock from The Binding Blade for this, or one that is similar to The Black Knight from Path of Radiance.
The noble general / "Lamus": As the name suggests, Camus archetype is the type of character who is part of the antagonistic army and is one of their generals, and generally makes you think why they are gonna be stuck on the opposite side or is prevented in some cruel way.
The Vizier here is a reference to the rare female antagonist that is, from judging her depiction here, it differs. Might be similar to Sonia from The Blazing Sword or Aversa from Awakening, but just so you know, this is probably one of the related to the big bad evil dragon or something.

The pegasus knight in this video can't be inspired by Florina. Literally nobody benches the adorable killing machine. Whether it is for her good stats and growths, flying utility or the fact that she's the most precious little cinnamon roll in the game, everyone has reasons to use her

You forgot The One That Dies Off Screen, but let’s be honest, no one really cares about that one.
But if you do care, let me elaborate then. this could be a nod to Selena or Glenn (Sacred Stones), or Someone else (i haven’t played or I’m too lazy to remember). Respectively if you take Erika's route there is no mention of Selena dying anywhere in this path. Same is done with Glenn, when you take Ephraim's rout, no mention of him dying either. But seeing as the female general looks more like Selena, it confirmed it. And there you have it, The One That Dies Off Screen archetype. Hopes this was helpful.

Honestly I think the thing that most defines a Jaigen is their bases and base class, it’s silly to distinguish “Oifey” from a Jaigen because both were intended to be early unit that a strong enough to carry that make training your scrubs easier. Only seth for some reason forgot to have bad growths.

Got into the game for the completely wrong reason according to the fandom. I was interested in the characters and the lore. At least for the most current games excluding Shadow Dragon (DS) and Echoes.
I tried doing the first fire emblem that came out for the Gameboy, but I failed harder than the time I tried Super Robot Taisen. I have some patience considering the fact I play Pokémon, but I almost never lose in Pokémon, so my temper got the better of me when it came to losing my units.

Player's character roster: Only 1 wyvern rider, 2 or 3 if you're lucky (or someone can promote into one).
Enemy armies: Everyone, their grandmothers and even their cats have one.
That's because wyvern riders are broken as shit in your hands but in the hands of the enemy they die to both arrows and all kinds of magic, barring Tellius that somehow made wyverns fucking flying dragons.
Honestly giving you more than 2 wyverns is nuts.

I am on my third playthrough, and my biggest complaint about the game is... way too many unanswered questions left at the end of each route, because each route tells its own story. There is little overarching stuff that connects them. =/
There are 4 different routes/stories: one in Blue Lions, one in Golden Deer, and two in Black Eagles. Did you do them all?

If you want answers, go Golden Deer.
If you want character development, go Blue Lion.
If you want to know why the Flame Emperor does things (which is a dumb reason, in my opinion), go Crimson Flower.

Crazy General: The eccentric enemy character with a high rank in the evil empire's army. e.g. Kempf, Narcian, and Valter.
Boring General: The classic enemy general whose loyalty to the empire is his only personality trait. e.g. Murdock and almost every generic boss in FE4.
Lamus: The Camus Archetype. These guys never go down that easily. The original Camus has one of the best weapons in the game, that weapon being the Gradivus. And then there's Eldigan. Eldigan has the Mystletainn. This weapon grants insane boosts to his stats and gives him the Critical skill. In this game, Critical is a rare skill that has a Skill% chance to double the attack power of the unit. The attack power is doubled before the target's Defense is taken into account, so a critical hit is (Atk*2)-Def. I'm pretty sure no unit can take a crit from Eldigan, so be prepared to reset. The easiest way of dealing with Eldigan is to talk to him with his little sister (who may or may not want to have sex with him), Lachesis. Reinhardt has many things that make him almost untouchable. He also has TWO brave weapons that are very powerful. He has Vantage, allowing him to attack twice before you do, during *YOUR* phase, Pavise, making the dude even harder to kill, and Adept and Accost giving him an extra chance to fuck you over. The easiest way of dealing with him is to put him to sleep.
Suspicious Vizier: Those scheming bastards that you see in every game. They almost always betray the emperor for their own self interests or for their dark god/dragon. e.g. Gharnef, Manfroy, Veld, etc.
Actually, I'd totally play a game with this exact cast. I'd always restart for Fat Vaike.

That was a thing for Awakening, which had a time travel plot, and Fates that was just copying Awakening.

@@irmatrubura4620 IIRC, Nino is a weird case in that she is actually a high tier character, but you get her so late in the game and at such a low level that for most people it's just not worth the extra effort to realize her potential when you've probably already committed to Erk, Priscilla, or Pent well before you got her, all the enemies you're fighting are levels above her, and you've only got a handful of maps left.

Yeah, uh, no. Nino requires far too much investment for what she gives to your army. You’ll have to spend 1-3 maps training her up and only her, and when you’re done, and minus a guiding ring, you now have a slightly better pent. Who joins earlier. Prepromoted. She’s like erk if erk joined a bunch of chapters later.

jrhamari Roy doesn’t promote until there are only about 4 maps left. So for more than 20+ chapters, Roy will remain unprompted while your other characters will become much stronger. In addition, if you failed to unlock any of the Gaiden [extra] chapters and or have any of the legendary weapons from said chapter break, your screwed from getting at least the good ending of Binding Blade, meaning you’ll only have ONE chapter with a promoted Roy if I recall correctly.
Jared Fayette I remember reading that. Yeah they really screwed Roy over. which is sad because like I said I really like him. Thats why I hope they remake FE6 and 7 so that they can have Roy promote earlier, Like say after you get the final legendary weapon.
Canonically the strongest sword that's the reason dragons are nearly extinct and yet he sucks.

Camilla, Frederick and Titania suck so much... Just like any high rank early game units (Seth, Marcus, Titania, Frederick, Jagen, Gunter...). Hector on the other hand has trouble to hit enemies early game but is clearly the best and most reliable lord of FE7. Ross is OP because you can grind as much as you want in FE8. But he is damn OP indeed.

Seems that there's usually at least one character that's your carry for the start of the game then falls off later and ones that aren't good then get really good later down the line.
At least from what little I've played.
And then there's Donnel.
Who is an actual farmer with no strengths to start with then becomes a monstrous murder machine after a few levels.
Also Mozu, once she becomes a Master of Arms
Give Donnel the right skill combo and he'll also be able to use any weapon forever without breaking it.
Mozu as a archer eats anything that she runs into on her turn

River strat Robin might be the single most powerful character in the whole series.

It always amuses me to see the "bad guy" nation somehow has no means to feed itself yet it has the strongest, most well equipped army the world has ever seen.
The only time this made sense was FE6-7 where the first thing they did was invade the farm rich nation

@@gewuerzwanze5627 I haven't played all the FE games, but the Jaigen is usually good (mostly in older games).
In FE4 they are among the most broken units, in FE6 Marcus is the sole reason you can pass the first chapters, in FE7/8 Marcus/Seth is your most broken unit, Titania is said to be a really good unit, in FE11/12 Jaigen/Arran are pretty good early game.
They are usually the best unit early game, and stay pretty solid during the whole game. Absolutely not an useless sckeleton mentor, nor Seth either ;)

healers in echoes are badass, they are the only ones that can kill Duma without Falchion after all

Mist and Rhys in RD can start by being able to defend theirself without Ike needing to go the other said of the map
that reminds me, Ethlyn was probably my favourite badass healer so far
if you manage to give her the silver sword on the first map you can use her to bait, dodge-tank and kill most axe enemies in the first few maps when you place her next to her husband
I actually leveled up most of my healers as most of them have an avoid broken a f, and then when they get to valkyries, Pegasus or some other more offensive class they would be extremely OP
