Now this video made me interested in an SRPG with a hard mode similar to DQ11: Being able to select which restrictions you have. Amusingly, said game does indeed have a "Allies have a small chance to get stunned on their turn", only for the switch version to add "Allies have an even smaller chance to die on their turn". The rest of the optional rules included, especially "If Hero dies, game over", "Cannot purchase items", "Cannot equip items" and "Villagers have a medium chance to give false hints" sound like an interesting idea for a challenge run.
@@sapphireweapon12345 Dragon Quest 11(S). Before you start, you can pick what the game calls a draconian quest, because Dragon Quest loves puns. If you're really interested, I recommend you skip the "lying NPCs" restriction, because the lies are decided by random chance, are almost always obvious and are always punctuated by "you didn't believe that, did you?" and an unskippable jingle. Otherwise, jokes aside, the game really is one of my favourite turn based JRPGs.
I want a fire emblem game where the main lord has some sort of disease, so if you choose a certain difficulty, theres a chance he might either loose health or just die
@@Poppipower I know right. Imagine losing on super death. I bet those casuals could not even beat the proloque on mega ultra lunatic super death difficulty.
Are game devs afraid to call the easiest mode "easy" nowadays? Gotta call it "normal" and make up a bunch of names for harder difficulties like "Testicular Torsion Mode" and "Molten Steel in your Eyeball Mode"
The localisation team did something like that with Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn In PoR they removed lunatic and added a new "Easy mode", easier that Normal mode with much more exp gains. In RD (a much harder game) they removed the Lunatic difficulty's name... but they did not add a new easier mode. They just changed their names. Everyone, even novices were effectively playing hard mode, thinking they were playing on normal, because no one wants to play on easy. RD is the worst/2nd worst selling FE. I think it is generally better this way (if they cranched up the difficulty a big. Starting TH a friend of mine told to begin with Hard immediately and that, having simply played RD on "easy", I would actually find TH a walk in the park. He was right)
How about the reverse? Blessed Mode: Every turn, every playable unit receives a blessing from the good Dragon God that gives them +4 to 2 random stats. God Mode: In addition to the bonus of Blessed Mode, at the beginning of each turn, the closest non-boss enemy to the main lord becomes controllable. Also, the main lord has 8 Mov and the legendary weapon can one-shot any enemy.
Pretty accurate. People tried hounding me into playing the hard modes on classic because "that's how the old games are like, man!". I wanted to learn about the game and have fun, not struggle. So I always start on normal to learn everything.
Man this reminds me of the controversary of grinding in Sacred Stones because it was apparently illegal to grind in a Fire Emblem game XD And also, dying of random heart failure seems like a Lyn and Roy thing. Been there, done that
Seriously tho, it seems like IS doesn't know what to do with the difficulty this days. The first one or two difficulties are pretty easy but then the game goes out of it's way to make your life miserable instead of providing an actual challenge.
@Dizzy Gear Yes, that pretty much summarizes my thoughts on the FE games I played. You can play defensive on lower difficulties, but on high difficulty having a slow unit will only kill it since the enemy is way ahead on stats than you and will double and kill the best tank in the game. That mentality of favoing offense, it sort of translate to FE Heroes as well; though they do release strong defensive units once in a while. One of my favorite Tactical RPG is Battle for Wesnoth. An open-source free game that has really good and really simple core mechanics, that let's you play as you like.
Ngl, outside of the 1/10 chance of your lord just falling over, I would actually play Death difficulty. Plus you get a green title screen, who could say no to that?
Let me look at the difficulties here let's see... There's normal, hard, madde- hang on what's this one down here? It looks like it's labeled holy crap what have I done with my life, huh seems interesting wonder what that's like.
Bruh a one in ten chance for the lord to get a sheer heart attack. I guess the death difficulty is so stressful that it even gives the lord enough stress to get such a medical mishap
A little known fact about Superdeath mode: if you beat it AND achieve max ranking, you unlock a special CG at the ending! Nothing else changes and sure you could just look it up, but don’t you want to be part of the elite group who gets to see a pretty picture?
Playing Ultimate Death+++ -Units may deal negative damage (hurting themselves instead of the enemy). -Units may have negative stat growths. -10% chance to negatively level movement (-1 move) -Cutscene Ambush Spawn Reinforcements (not even in the cutscenes are you safe). -Random chance for your army to die from natual disasters (volcno, earthquake, some evil dragon waking up from a nightmare...) -Random chance of your unfielded units dying (even if their death isn't scripted). -Every map is treated as a Desert, Fog of War, Defend map. Every map has stupid Green Units, which you must escort as a chapter objective. Reward: You may make the next FE title...after beating Ultimate Death++++.
"Hey if you beat Death, you actually unlock a secret difficulty called Super Death." "What happens in Super Death mode?" "You die in the game, you die for real." I think I am just gonna stick with normal mode
ah yes, the Fire Emblem difficulty levels: phoenix, casual/easy, classic/normal, hard mode, maddening, lunatic, infernal, hector hard mode, shadow dragon 5 stars, and ironman
You forgot Lunatic Reverse, goes between SD5 and Ironman. Also you forgot RNG Screwed difficulty, which is any of the other difficulties but God hates you and any stat without a 100% growth rate never levels.
That last part reminds me of my experience with FE7. I was just gonna play on the default difficulty, but then I unlocked hard mode, then I unlocked Hector mode, then I unlocked Hector hard mode... Every time I think about "battle before dawn" I wonder how it's possible that FE7 is still one of my favorite games.

I love it when elitists tell me how I should play fire emblem. It wouldn’t be the same any other way
Hard mode, main lord only.
@@unknownstranger6558
To be fair, I haven't beaten Lunatic for Awakening...
*YET*
@@unknownstranger6558
I got to Ch. 3 on Lunatic, without a Unit Death (might've been playing on Casual, but I don't remember,) but I don't think I was able to pass that. If I could've beaten Ch. 4 I was just gonna grind with DLC.
I love it when the gaming community as a whole, that spent over 10 years bashing "filthy casuals", turns around cries about elitists mocking them for playing on Phoenix Mode.
"No you can't just enjoy the game however you want, you need to play on the hardest possible difficult, noooooooo."
"Haha, Hard mode go brrr"
No, but seriously, there are limits on what someone can withstand, and I know that I wouldn't enjoy madenning.
Maddening Mode is like being introduced with a new, significantly harder Curriculum. Once you get past chapter 2, the game opens up in terms of options. Still very hard, but chapter 2 is sorta the hardest chapter IMO.
@@TheEeveeKing maddening is definitely the easiest "hard mode" we have had in the recent titles imo, probably due to how customizable our units are and how early we can access crazy shit like warp. or maybe its because i am actually using my items and magic since theres almost no limit to them while i would conserve to much in awakening. and Fates is well fates. lol
I really like Maddening...
@@Livingvapour god I fucking hate Fates' infinite durability gimmick. There were warning flags from the very beginning when it came to balancing that, but when I saw the drawbacks on those weapons, I was like "geez, I actually miss weapon durability. Why am I losing half my strength for using the legendary weapons?"
Chapter 2 was annoying but the does get easier and more fun
Cant wait to see Mekkah play Death Mode on FE8
I could make a funny and original joke that's related to this video.
Or I could just say the WARP STAFF!
I somehow knew you were going to say that. XD
Someone: "I think I'll play normal to get a feel for the game."
Those people: *angry hardcore noises*
then they use warp to skip the level
“I’m going to put this fire emblem on the D section of the tier list because, even though I had a great time and it had a compelling story with great characters and a great combat system, I just didn’t reset my game enough and they didn’t have lunatic ++++”
The funny part is I can see mekkah playing an mode were you get no exp no growths and same turn reinforcements
Haha yeah
Well he's about to do that, with the random heart failure included.
this aged like a fine wine
This aged amazingly
Well.... I guess so
yeah I'd play that
Can’t wait for the guide
It seems not enough of the comment section has heard of your memes' power...
@Wil E Generic enemy: Wait wait wait... Ahem. *Wololo.*
Your unit: *changes side* Narwany.
I remember when I first tried Lunatic in Awakening. Chrom missed this axe brigand and got his ass critical’ed in the very first map.
*Never again.*
Nintendo: "Alright, seems like another person just failed Super Death mode. Call up the hitman."
In Konami's case it would obviously be Yakuza, but Nintendo... might be ninjas. They like it old school after all.
"Every turn the lord has a one in ten chance of dying from random heart failure" Silly Bismix! They already did that. His name is Roy.
Roy jokes are not getting old anytime soon.

Okay this can go one of 2 ways, either

"Beyond Phoenix Mode: Just Here for the Dating Sim Difficulty"
Death Mode literally almost sounded like Cindered Shadows Hard Mode, but instead of heart failure, it's a random ass Golem
Oddly enough this is how i feel about Three houses and its wonderful options for difficulty mixing. Did you know you know that you can have a miserable time without permanent loss.... or my favorite, a somewhat calming experience where falling asleep at the wheel kills someone, like I'm running the tilt-a-whirl at a carnival
I always try normal and then on my second run I try with the hardest difficulty available, only because I feel prepared for what's coming.
Always great content Bismix, I hope to see more of your videos!
Yes another bismix vid, time to sit back and relax!
About a minute later. Whelp, that was that. Back to miserable real life!
Normal : Upgrade.
Hard : Good enough.
Lunatic : Go back.
Lunatic+ : I SAID GO BACK!!!
“You die in the game, you die in real life” - Super Death Infernal mode. Me: 👁👄👁
Now this video made me interested in an SRPG with a hard mode similar to DQ11: Being able to select which restrictions you have.
Which game is this? Sounds like fun.
@@jvts8916 Thanks, and I'm sure I'll love it. Plus I won't be bothered by the puns- I'm a bit of a pungeon master myself.
Lying npcs!? Imagine if a villager said "Bench your Jagen you won't need him for lunatic" 😂
1:11
"I'm sorry"
"Thank you"
"...normie"
Mekkah: it's free real estate
I want a fire emblem game where the main lord has some sort of disease, so if you choose a certain difficulty, theres a chance he might either loose health or just die
All my friends play on Super Death.
Or, well, did.
f
You telling me they lost? Shouldn’t have been your friends to begin with, those casuals. Get better.
@@Poppipower I know right. Imagine losing on super death. I bet those casuals could not even beat the proloque on mega ultra lunatic super death difficulty.
"What happens in super death?"
"The main lord becomes a dad"
"Oh neat! ...OH FUCK"
Eliwood lived, so there's a theoretical chance
Random Heart failure... Super Death is why we wont see Bismix after this.
Are game devs afraid to call the easiest mode "easy" nowadays? Gotta call it "normal" and make up a bunch of names for harder difficulties like "Testicular Torsion Mode" and "Molten Steel in your Eyeball Mode"
I'd play CBT mode
fire emblem has almost always started on normal difficulty, and most of those with easy difficulty are just normal difficulty but with tutorials iirc
"Pressure Cook Your Greasy Balls" mode
You're underestimating how fun it is to name these.
The localisation team did something like that with Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn
In PoR they removed lunatic and added a new "Easy mode", easier that Normal mode with much more exp gains.
God Mode sounds like my Byleth build on 3H. 9 movement, 100 crit chance, and enough speed to dodge literally any attack.
@@bobbyk3851 wtf was his/her class and skills?
Sounds like a shoneun anime.
@@taas7576 The final season.
Downside: all items cost 500% more than in other modes.
Super Death: Everything you hate, plus every existing pitfall ever, is in this one.
Here from you-know-what.
Pretty accurate. People tried hounding me into playing the hard modes on classic because "that's how the old games are like, man!". I wanted to learn about the game and have fun, not struggle. So I always start on normal to learn everything.
Here’s a nice difficulty idea:
“The main lord must fight with a Devil axe/ sword/ lance/ w/e throughout the campaign”
Just don't use him lol
Unless only he can finish off the final boss...
@@chrisf.9595 only he can kill any of the bosses...
Even better: just replace every weapon with a Devil weapon
Man this reminds me of the controversary of grinding in Sacred Stones because it was apparently illegal to grind in a Fire Emblem game XD
And also, dying of random heart failure seems like a Lyn and Roy thing. Been there, done that
Always good to see this fun videos even when the community is a literal dumpster fire. Thanks bismix
Plus you get a green title screen, who could say no to that?
it's nice to see that they're still keeping 6 feet apart by having each character in a seperate shot
“You die in the game, you die for real.” Me: (Laughs in Phoenix mode.)
"I can't fall here. I must make my retreat!"
I feel the heart failure line was inspired by roy

I think we need a difficulty where their are no enemies.
Twenty chapters of Battle Preparations

I can't wait for the new *_Eternal Damnation++_* DLC where your movements are all still turn-based but the enemy moves in real time
Continue to speak the things that my mind silently plots good sir I will ALWAYS love your content
Things to keep in mind while playing this difficulty,
1. No having fun
A little known fact about Superdeath mode: if you beat it AND achieve max ranking, you unlock a special CG at the ending! Nothing else changes and sure you could just look it up, but don’t you want to be part of the elite group who gets to see a pretty picture?
"The main lord has a 1/10 chance to die from random heart failure"
If this had been in Thracia, people would probably unironically defend it.
Kinda unrelated but I was so happy you put BIS music in there since I just beat that game for the first time recently!
The fact that mekkah actually wanted to play this
Playing Ultimate Death+++
-Units may deal negative damage (hurting themselves instead of the enemy).
-Units may have negative stat growths.
-10% chance to negatively level movement (-1 move)
-Cutscene Ambush Spawn Reinforcements (not even in the cutscenes are you safe).
-Random chance for your army to die from natual disasters (volcno, earthquake, some evil dragon waking up from a nightmare...)
-Random chance of your unfielded units dying (even if their death isn't scripted).
-Every map is treated as a Desert, Fog of War, Defend map. Every map has stupid Green Units, which you must escort as a chapter objective.
Reward: You may make the next FE title...after beating Ultimate Death++++.
"Hey if you beat Death, you actually unlock a secret difficulty called Super Death."
"What happens in Super Death mode?"
"You die in the game, you die for real."
I think I am just gonna stick with normal mode
Been watching so many of your videos the past few days-super glad you have an actually new one!
ah yes, the Fire Emblem difficulty levels: phoenix, casual/easy, classic/normal, hard mode, maddening, lunatic, infernal, hector hard mode, shadow dragon 5 stars, and ironman
