say as little as possible to the police, especially if you are a passenger, as a driver try and remain as silent as you possibly can and if they ask you questions like " do you have a job/working" just say "I prefer not to answer".....you are legally required to provide your details when driving a vehicle when you get stopped by coppers, they don't need a reason to stop you and you don't have to have done anything wrong...it can be a totally random check.....just give your name , address, and date of birth and if you have photo ID just show it...that's it....that is all you require to do at roadside.....if these two nazis want to see car hire documents they can issue you with a producer and they don't need the reg of a car you are not even driving when they stop you, that is just rubbish.

There is no requirement to show any documents to Police, even if you have them on your person. An HORT1 (produca) can be issued, wherein you can produce your docs at a station of YOUR choice within 7 days. You are only required to provide your name and address when stopped. If they intend to charge you with an offence, you are then required to provide DOB and (in Scotland) your place of birth and nationality (ask if they intend to charge you). Failure to provide ID is a secondary charge. There is no requirement to answer any other questions. There is no requirement to show any other documents such as a bank card to verify your ID. There is no requirement to physically hand a document to the Police, only to display it. A DL or other document can be shown through the window of the vehicle. There is no requirement to exit the vehicle, unless Police intend to lawfully detain you for a search/arrest you/search the vehicle. Breath/drug tests can be done through the window of the vehicle. There is no requirement for passengers to ID (unless lawfully detained/arrested). There is no requirement to hand vehicle keys to Police during a stop, unless they seize the vehicle. There is no requirement to help the Police convict you. Etc, etc. Basically, there is no requirement to do anything except to provide your ID, which can be done verbally.
Don't talk to Police. Don't trust Police. Always film Police.
You're not required to provide date of birth. The law says "and in some circumstances your date of birth". However, it does not specify any circumstances.

Anyone in a similar situation where they are driving legally but Police still seize the vehicle, then Police ultimately become liable for the costs of the vehicle uplift and storage, and arguably any additional costs. If the vehicle is subsequently scrapped because of this process then start a civil claim. Only the fear of too many civil claims and an out-of-control legal defence and recompense budget keeps Plod in control, otherwise they would be seizing more than the 540,000 vehicles they seized from 2018 to 2022.
Absolutely no reason to give him your registration these 2 need complained against simple as that!
I remember PS tried to take my dashcam as it had recorded a robbery, and I told them that as I wasn't involved in the crime, and that I was simply parked in the street, they would need a warrant to seize my dashcam. They kept threatening me that as a Policeman had been seriously injured in the robbery, they had a legal right to seize it. After I told them they had no legal right to anything from my vehicle, they blocked my vehicle from moving forward, and I simply turned around and went in the opposite direction.
I wouldn't assist PS regardless of how serious an officer was injured. Scumbags!!!!!!!
