    The V6 Mustang has gotten a lot of hate over the years...for good reason. However in 2011 they brought out the new 3.7 liter V6 with over 300hp and it actually was decent to drive! Can a modified car of this be worth as a track car? For this in depth review we find out. Thanks for watching!

    one of the best v6 engines made! My 2012 Mustang woke up with 3.37 gears and a engine tune, aluminum racing clutch, one piece driveshaft. Wow! Ford made a great V6 3.7 bullet proof.

    I don't think she necessarily did something different, but she did something everyone wants to do. I've always read stuff online like "should I buy a v6 mustang for a track" but most people will reply "get a miata or a 5.0"
    I suppose it's one of those fuck you Im gonna do it anyways kind of things.

    I just recently bought a 2014 V6 and ABSOLUTELY love it. It already had a custom cat back exhaust, which was nice. I wouldn’t trade this V6 for a V8 in any way. It talkative, it’s fast, and fun.

    This is a nice setup. The v6 is really fun because you can drive it at 100%, 100% of the time. A few minor bolt-ons really bring this to life in an incredible way without the need for boost. I recommend 3.73 gears, CAI with tune. Some non essential bonuses would be the 73mm throttle body, one piece drive shaft, strut tower brace. All these things are not too expensive and really change the car.

    I've noticed a lot of questions asking what all this car has had done to it so I figured I'd swoop in with the answers. I'll try to be specific without going overboard. This is my girlfriend's Mustang and I know she'd like for your questions to be answered so here we go:
    First off, it started life as a base 2014 Mustang V6 Automatic with the tech, security, and FP6 appearance package but has gone nuts since then. From the front back you will see that it has the APR GT500 carbon fiber splitter, Cervinis GT500 grilles and chin spoiler, MMD headlight splitters, some engine bay dress-up plus the sticker-bombed radiator cover, Staggered 20" MMD 551c wheels, Custom red pinstripes and black decals, tinted windows, black roof wrap, Roush spoiler, RTR decklid, and Boss 302 diffuser. The interior has the fixed-back Sparco Evo Plus racing seats, Braum harness bar, G-Force harnesses, custom rear seat delete, GT/CS dash insert with "3.7 Cyclone" badge, and custom red mood-lighting. Performance mods include Roush CAI, Custom Bama Tune, fully adjustable SR Performance Coilovers, SR adjustable front sway bar, Boss 302S rear sway bar, Boss 302 strut tower brace, BMR adjustable control arms and panhard bar, Mac ceramic headers with BBK x-pipe and Roush axle back exhaust, 3.73 Rear Gears, Torsen Differential, One-piece aluminum driveshaft, and and 6-piston 14" Wilwood front brakes (which were not installed when this video was shot).
    I think that completes the list. Let me know if you have any questions!

      Why invest so much money in an automatic V6 considering all the mods you did were expensive? It makes no sense to me other than a lighter front end. But the torque used in a V8 to thrust out of a corner is just not there with the V6. You could of got a manual V6 too so whats going on? Were you just impatient and took the best deal you could find?

      Power to weight mainly. For example dodge challengers are super heavy and the SE models come with a v6 that has a little over 200hp. Then you have a dodge challenger losing to honda civics.

      well, think of it this way, if you have the factory option of a v8 or v6, you'll almost always go v8. The cars mentioned also have inline sixes as the only option (exc Porsche and new gtr) which some people (myself included) prefer over v8s because of sound, charachter, etc.

    I believe every one who posted negative comments on this video never driven a properly tuned V6 mustang or even a stock one. It's not the same as the 5.0. It's a different car they way it feels and drives is the complete opposite of the 5.0. I tested both before I got my V6 and I chosed the V6 cuz' it mad more sense to me and it suits my every day driving and track days. Thanks David for a great video as usual

    Why is so there so much hate for it being a v6? Who cares? Or for the driver being female? Or that it’s an auto? Who cares? Some people prefer other things. And even auto, you have more consistent numbers on a track than with a manual because of human error. Not that big of a deal.

    A woman told me something really funny. She told me her husband owned a V8 Camaro, and he always bashes anyone in any V6 powered car. Pretty much anything with less cylinders than a V8. She also ended by saying "he doesn't have the biggest penis size, so I guess that's his way of over compensating." Boy did that get a chuckle outta me. What point am I trying to make? V8 guys who feel threaten by and make it their mission to bash any V6 usually have small peepees.

      Around certain tracks a V8 would be faster. It's all about the purpose, the v6 has the potential to rip corners much quicker than a GT. If it's a real technical track that requires a lot of braking and turn response, the V6 could out perform a GT.

      3SevenStangVids lot of company sell kit to reduce weight in the front for 5.0 and a 5.0 set up for track will smash a 3.7 man the power difference is unreal for that little tiny bit the 3.7 does better around the turns the 5.0 will more than make up for that when exiting the a pex

    • @hellsing0999999999
      @hellsing0999999999 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      100hp of difference, its not that much when you take into account that with the extra money, you can add a turbo and have more power and better weight distribution than the V8 version, HELL, you could just go full bolts on and have similar times at the drag strip and still save money.
      The 3.7 engine has the same potential as the 5.0.

    i'm going to start AutoX'ing my 2013 v6 camaro next year, getting a new shifter and twin disc clutch over the winter. I know a lot of people that have v6 camaro's and mustangs that autox them and they do really damn well, the built ones walk their SS/GT brothers and sometimes beat the track pack versions (put track pack + upgraded suspension). I do think it sucks that they got rid of the 3.7 all together though for the mustang. I get "why" but I also think they should of given you more options if you wanted the v6 instead of the ecoboost, instead of limiting it severely.

Its just straight pipe after the manifolds, cheap intake, A/c delete, and Taurus 2 speed E fan conversion. It sounds WAAAAAY better than this 3.7 trash. 4.0 is very lumpy for a v6

    • @drewb242
      @drewb242 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think 300hp in a semi light car like a mustang is slow, kind of ridiculous to suggest in my opinion. I would certainly prefer the V8 but I don't hate the V6 just because it has two less cylinders, it is a fine engine.

    • @sharpemang
      @sharpemang 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      3,630 lbs. is not what I would call semi light. A 370Z is maybe a little light. You should look up what power to weight ratio is because 300 hp in 3,630 is slow enough for a Toyota Camry to outrun and run circles around (even the new Camry weighs less than a V6 Mustang). And the V6 in this car is terrible because the entire car is designed for a bigger engine vs a 370Z which is just designed just for one particular engine. A Toyota Camry can run circles around the V6 Mustang. Let that sink in for a moment. A Toyota Camry. I would have more respect for you if you had a Camry sleeper and not a poser v6 Mustang.

    I hate the idea of manufacturers getting rid of N/A power bc of regulations. There were so many cool stuff just a while ago. It seems now it'll all be 4 cylinder turbo engines. It's not a bad thing, they might make the same power as a high displacement engine, but they won't be as responsive unless the turbo "dies" at high rpm.

      As someone who track instructs in the Midwest region(particularly Des Moines region). The best students and the students who show the most improvement are typically women FYI. They listen and come to learn, most dudes who have never been to the track and are keyboard warriors end up being horrible track driver/ students

    I think a V6 Mustang is more nimble than one with V8. Honestly I'd always take V6 Stang over a silly four banger anytime. Put a bit urban on a six cylinder Mustang, give it a good tune, and fun is guaranteed.
    You should be driving my 300HP Fiero GT. The original 2.8 V6 was bored out to 3.1, got a turbo and some tuning. I think you'd be surprised.

    I don't think a mustang would be a good track car anyways.

      lol also a supra would be just as bad as a mustang you're gonna have to put better brakes and suspension on both of them

      Pablo Lamatafeliz well the mustang was more of a track car since the original GT350. The supra was always a heavy luxury car competing with the Z and RX7.

    I have the exact opposite set up😂. 4.0L tuned cold air intake, full exhaust. Pypes shorty headers, ford performance exhaust with electric cut outs. Bride bucket seats with Takata racing harness with no back seats, and 5 speed manual.

    She needs resonators and to change the axle backs. Roush way too loud for that much flow.
