Eventually pushing hard won't work. Just went through the same issue with my 2009 model. I saved money by just installing a push to start button under the steering column.
Thank you so much. This happened with my dad's car and I had to go online and search. So happy I came across this video. It worked! 👌🏾. So, this has been going on for like 2 weeks, some days it'll start once, other days it'll take like 5-10mins. Today it took us close to 35mins till I saw your video. Is it the ignition problem or? 😂 Don't know about cars but i need a little explanation on how we can fix it, So I'll relay the msg to my dad. Thank you so much! 😊
This fix can work for a limit time. And you don't need replace the switch. The definitive fix is open the key cilinder and file a little, little bit the last part (that was the reason the car turn on until you push the key). Key doesn't reach all the way. After that you don't need push no more. I did that and fix this problem 6 years ago. No more problems
Lock module replacement is the approved fix for sure, the issue isn’t usually in the tumbler on the fords here. Now of course if yours is in the key/tumbler nothing wrong with the slight modification to get you back on the road.
Will a back ignition lock cylinder cause your engine to lose power and shut off while driving? I've been pushing key in for about 4 months, then engine shut off while driving. Engine cranks, but no start currently.
Well stretch my spleen and sugar my cookie! I'll be doggone this fix worked (for *_me_* anyway)! Temps are going down to 8 and 3 degrees today and tomorrow. Ain't no way I'm 'bout to be outside dinkin around with this Escape. Turn the key and no crank used to happen "occasionally". Then it became every time I got in the car it took at least 2 or 3 tries. Then the other day it took approximately *15* - with a capital *fif* - before the car started. I was scared to drive it anywhere 'cause I didn't know if it would crank to get me back home. Then I tried the 'ol *_press-n-turn-key_* and every time I get in the car it cranks on the first try. If this buys me just a few weeks that'll be cool - I'll replace the module then.

What are the connection points for the push button?

I replaced my ignition switch. However, later developed issues with starting......replaced the key lock. They are two separate parts and issues.
Thanks worked perfect
Me and my friends took the lock cylinder out....made slight adjustment by grinding the metal barrier inside....all good now
Awesome!
How do you do that
