| AC Vents Update 8/4/22 | The vents needed are from the JDM Oem 96-98 bezel. In my opinion for the price they are currently going for if even found in stock, you are better off cutting up the usdm bezel and adapting the top portion to the aftermarket bezel as stated and shown in video. My trip to the junkyard to find vents from other model vehicles using digital calipers for more precise measurements concluded that vents from the usdm Honda/Acura models Civic (EG, EF, Wagovan, 7th gen, and 99-00), Acura (DA, DC, TSX, 2nd gen Legend) and Accord 3rd-5th, and 7th did NOT work. I ended up finding vents from a 6th gen Toyota celica (specifically a 94') to work the best but not without modification. I had to cut the center divider off the aftermarket bezel as well as the material behind the bezel and trim some material off on the sides near the hazard and rear defroster (I think that what the button is for), and a bit on the botton as well but not the material the surronds the touchscreen on top. I also had to cut the passenger side vent almost in half due to it not being able to be flush with the bezel due to the limited space behind the vent. It didn't look as good as I hoped but definitely looked better than before, and it helped push and direct airflow way better. At the end of the day I still recommend adapting the oem vent housing onto the aftermarket bezel, same amount of work without the extra cost buying vents.
so, I cut the top half part of my original bezel where that line is and cut from the hazard light all the way across to the defrost light? what did u use to cut? and step 2 Cut the aftermarket bezel and glue the oem one on the aftermarket one and shave as needed? i got this stuff already. just trying to make sure i don't mess up. all i got is one bezel.
Question one : I used a grinder with a cutting wheel (all I had) and some wire cutters/shears for little things or where I couldn't get the grinder to. I highly recommend a decent Dremel with a cutting wheel. Question 2: yes, mount OEM top portion of bezel onto aftermarket.
@@jarnbjorn4522 That is annoying to me, As I am currently in the process of trying to find the proper vents that fit this fascia. And everywhere they want at least $120-$200 for the climate control panel. Whether it is EDM or JDM.
I didn’t know if this helps but that whole issue about the air vents not fitting is because the mount you bout was for a RIGHT hand drive. they are mapped a little differently. if you ever want to fix it just make sure it’s for the left hand drive car.
Just as a note the Aussie delivered model has the same vent face as the stock one I had to pull the vents and glue them into the new surround. I have watched your video and the other guys video and found them to be very helpful
I had to do similar cuts around gages in my 89 accord so I could access th gage cluster without pulling th entire front trim around the dash, a couple cuts right at th corners and th top cover pops off ez
Alright so quick question I installed a reason in my car a few months ago when I have it on high volume the bass is horrible and it stutters hella and shuts the radio off and when it is on low volume it does the same sometimes any tips?
Hey bro quick question this might be dumb, but if I were to install this and new speakers how would I connect my speakers to the digital display ? 17 here and just got an ek
On your civic the on compartment area where you have above the cup holders I have a cd player there for the cd changer it came with. Is it still the same?
Thing as I don’t understand is why don’t people just get the air ducts for that model - piece that you bought and then get a saw cut them in half the tubes and then graph your tube onto the new tube so you need to measure from the part you cut and then you grab those two pieces. It’s actually making into one part part that’s custom
To my understanding yes. There is a thin layer of material on top that forms around the touchscreen bezel that you could use as a base to glue the top part of the oem bezel.
I have no idea honestly, I assumed it meant it was for LHD or RHD like the din cutout would be oriented more towards the driver but it's dead center. I purchased the left. I have yet to go to my local junkyard to hunt for vents but I will make a video if I find something.
I found out they are actually 96-98 JDM bezel. I found some images on Google of old ebay listing thumbnails. For the they are going for even if you find one I think you are better off cutting up the oem bezel and adapting it to the aftermarket.
Using 99-00 original radio bezel lets you use a double din 7" radio rather than 9". I myself prefer 7" double din radio as they give better sound quality than the new off brand 9" china radios.
@@aziangarage ohhh I'll take a look at the video again.. Im just preparing myself because im about to do the same thing lol but your video was very detailed thank you!
Possibly, I don't know much about that bezel/climate control swap into a 96-98 civic but I would assume the aftermarket bezel would fit but you would have to take a different approach as far as wiring goes for the climate control.
@@aziangarage ah crap. I only came here to first enjoy the shit out of your video bc I've been seeing these on Ali for about 6mo now. I swear I once saw one closer to our (not a fanboi - an actual 1997 civic ex owner) vents but I was either dreaming or drunk or wishful thinking... who knows but I call it the Unicorn Bezel. I do have the entire assembly minus the radio from a cherry aught I stumbled across at LKQ one day. In fact, I still have the uncut speaker holes and all pass door panel that is beautiful like it was brand new... just the wrong shade of gray for me.
Yes you can. I personally just pair my phone via Bluetooth and use my media apps off of that. I'm still trying to figure out how to use smart view/mirror link from phone to radio.
@@aziangarage yeah that was going to be my next question. I want to see if it can do it. If not, then I am not sure if I want that one. Its the middle tier one correct?

Euro civics use the same vents as the jdm version im pretty sure theyre easier to find on the internet
where i'm from we drive rhd, and the entire penal you took out cost probably $35 max but in used condition.

Literally EXACTLY what I've been looking to do recently!!! Thanks for the video (:
What did you put for the gap from the center console to the dash
Yasssss needed this
WOW YOU DID A GOOD JOB
Done my like 4 years ago I like ur dash part but my came out way better i use 99 dash part my cup holder still all together
Great !! I will do it!
Looks awesome

Honestly I have no idea 😅. It possibly could be bad connections/wiring, blown speakers or a bad radio unit altogether.

On your civic the on compartment area where you have above the cup holders I have a cd player there for the cd changer it came with. Is it still the same?
No I moved the climate control to that area.
Does the display link to a back up camera?
Yes it does

when u said cut the top part, you mean cut both tops and glue it somehow to the other cut bezel? with a strong epoxy maybe?
To my understanding yes. There is a thin layer of material on top that forms around the touchscreen bezel that you could use as a base to glue the top part of the oem bezel.
So where can get the cover, to mount the screen on...??
Link to the bezel is in the description.
Do you still have you oem radio?
No I do not, the car already had the aftermarket radio when I bought it.
Whats the difference between the left and right bezel? Which should i buy? And also any luck on figuring out the air vents yet?

The bezel is for the EU version for the civic. That's why the vents are different, you can purchase some EU vents and they should fit right in.
@@djhangover2132 yea after alot of research i found out the vents that fit are the ek9 civics. But i cant find them no where online
Think im just going to dremel out then holes a little to make my ek vents fit

Will this fit in my eg civic coupe... want be different...
Does it work for a 97 civic?
Yes 96'-98'
Did this radio connect to hondata by chance?
I don't have Hondata, if you're talking about bluetooth connectivity for on screen apps like Tunerview I'm sure there is a way to make it work.
Okay cool. Thank you for the reply!!!
What did u use to cut the area to fit the climate control
I didn't cut anything, I just didn't reinstall the bezel that the cup holders mount to with 4 screws.
@@aziangarage ohhh I'll take a look at the video again.. Im just preparing myself because im about to do the same thing lol but your video was very detailed thank you!

I just grabbed screws that worked from a can that has an assortment of screws I collected over the years 😅
I actually found. A screw that was perfect for it its was a #4 - 1/2 incase anyone needs this info

The Filipino/Asian Civic is different from the one you have re the top vents.
your vents are nasty why U dont clean IT before install those back
