Hey Dave. serial killer with Tobin Bell had an Aussie DVD release, I can’t vouch for its quality, I’ve passed it many times in charity shops but for sure, next time I’ll take it home. A tv movie I recall as a kid was the Boy Who Drank too much with Scott Baio, the tagline.. “He’s 15, a star athlete and an alcoholic” Arrow put out The Initiation of Sarah which I believe was a TV movie, I thought it was great. Very TV-friendly version of Carrie, throw in some Satanic Secrets along with the Telekinesis angle with Morgan Fairchild and Shelly Winters as the sorority house mother. I really enjoyed it.

I'm not a Tom Cruise fan at all, but Risky Business is amazing. It's like a John Hughes coming of age film that's already come of age.

I love Redbelt. Mamet in that era when he embraced doing more genre films was really enjoyable. He made The Unit for TV with Shaun Ryan (who made The Shield) and Spartan, which I genuinely think is his best film. Mamet playing with action movie cliches, basically and some great dialogue. Val Kilmer before he started doing DTV stuff.

I was really impressed with The Strangers: Chapter 1. Not as good as Prey at Night, but I think they set up the new trilogy quite well. More of a mystery element added this time.

Imprint are bringing out a boxset of TV movies later in the year under their Imprint Television line, glad they’re saving some, as you say which often just get lost.
Sadly Imprint titles don’t really get discounted, there was a 10% off sale around Boxing Day on year. Locally in Australia JB Hi-Fi (our main retailer which carries physical media) has 20% off dvds, blurays and 4ks quite often, though not sure if they ship internationally.

Quite enjoyed The Final Omen, I think I preferred Immaculate by a whisker and they're virtually the same movie. However, The First Omen did actually inspire me to change a scene I had in mind for a recent film I produced. I'd planned to have a reference to the infamous subway scene meltdown by Isabelle Adjani in Possession. I'd not have been the first person by any stretch to do that, a fact which dawned on me when The First Omen had a sequence homaging it, but (for me) far too on the nose. It wasn't in a subway but otherwise was almost identical right down to copying the movements of Adjani to essentially choreography. So yeah, I reconfigured the sequence in my own film to have a "nod" but not a direct imitation.

I enjoyed The Fall Guy. It was a little overly long, but still an enjoyable watch

I recently watched Puppet on a chain. The story is absolutely atrocious. The action sequences just about cut the grade, but the movie was vacuous beyond belief. The car chase in Fear is the key that begins right at the start of the film, almost mirrors the proto-typical beginning of Puppet on a Chain. I think this sort of boat chase was one of the earliest forms of film chase used in a more modern, contemporary film. I saw Puppet on a Chain on VHS in the 1980s. The movie is still a poor film and will probably remain so. Fear is the Key has probably one of the best Roy Budd scores to grace the cinematic form which just demonstrates how underrated Budd was. The jazz elements and brilliant use of the beat and intermixing of orchestra are extraordinary. In my humble view, Roy Budd should've had a chance to compose a Bond score in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Budd was a true genius. I recently bought The Lawyer with Barry Newman on Kino Lorber. The Lawyer was the forerunner to the ever so popular 1970s TV series Petrocelli, which ran for a few years in the U.S. Still great to watch, and Newman still had that hard edged, womanising factor in the TV series that Hollywood liked to use.
