It always makes me happy to see other people in my demographic discover amazing cinema from around the world. No matter how our culture changes over the years, there will always be artists and people with a passion, however niece it may be.
Brian Trenched-Smith is one of my favourite directors too! He's made some wonderful films, Man From Hong Kong being one of the best in my opinion, and his commentary on that film is really interesting and entertaining. As is his interview (alongside his wife) on a recent Umbrella disc of Stunt Rock.
Was looking at my collections TV sections and looks like I have two main categorys in there - UK & US comedy series and various HBO series. I have cut down collecting TV shows a lot, but from time to time still add some to my collection. I think latest additions have been 3 seasons of Jack Ryan and seasons 1-7 Columbo set.
TV shows / forgotten releases which serve adding to the shelves ... 'Star Fleet [X-Bomber]'. Absolutely God Tier Japanese puppet show, which played on Saturday mornings in the UK. It changed the lives of kids who watched it, and gained a huge celebrity fan in Brian May [who covered the show's ending song!]. Had a DVD release a few years back, then disappeared into obscurity again. 'The Second Coming'. TV miniseries where a fella who works in northern video shop discovers he's the next incarnation of Christ. Christopher Eccleston is amazing in the lead, Russel T Davies would go on to do a beloved run on Dr Who after this. Fantastic telly, which made it to DVD and then seems to have been forgotten about.
@@snipsmovies The Star Fleet music was by Paul Bliss [who'd been in The Moody Blues], but May covered the ending theme, yep. The Second Coming was so clever. Had a real nerd-out with my friend Simon about it the other week .. the only other person who'd seen it. One of those gems of British telly that's just disappeared. I'd scream about 'My Parents are Aliens' - for me the funniest show I've ever seen - but it's only ever received a Spanish DVD release. Doing such brilliant humour on kids telly is fab, the show still stands up, and no surprise the writers went on to do Peep Show and Succession.
I got my Severin sale order in about 10 days ago. Picked up ‘Opera’, ‘Dario Argento’s Deep Cuts’, ‘2020 Texas Gladiators’, and a number of their sale titles. Good sale I thought. Hope your order turns up soon
This brings to mind a TV show I can't recall ever seeing make the jump to streaming and seems hard to find. The Lakes (1997) starring John Simm. That was a really good mini-series that seems to have been forgotten about. Worth stocking I reckon.
Do you have the two Kolchak TV movies Night Stalker and Strangler in the main shop? Have these led anyone to enquire about the TV show? Hammer House of Horror is that out the back in TV or in your Hammer movie section?
Couple of TV seasons you could stock to overcome censorship. South Park s14 US DVD has the fantastic episodes 200 and 201. Censored off all other DVDs and presumably streaming for featuring Mohammed. Earlier seasons had Mohammed episodes too and while they made DVD im guessing censored off streaming. Simpsons S3 DVD has the Michael Jackson episode which is not on disney+
Do you have the British horror anthology series, Urban Gothic? If not I’d recommend it. There were two series on Channel 5 back in 2000/2001. It’s a bit on the cheap side, and not every episode hits, but overall it’s well worth watching and, mostly, quite interesting. As far as I know it’s only ever had a cheap dvd release and it doesn’t seem like a show that will get a bells & whistles Blu-ray release.
Homicide: Life on the Street, Twin Peaks, Miami Vice, Tales From the Crypt and Masters of Horror are my all time favorite series.

Subbed! What a cozy video store man. What a collection...wow 👏 I could hang out in there all day.

Hey up. Got a likely silly question to ask: When a DVD is rented, are any royalties paid to the people who made the film?
I enjoyed Fear , Wahlberg suited the part and you can't fault William Petersen

TV series you should carry is Blackpool with David Tennant and David Morrissey. Great, weird show.
