O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß,
Oh man, bewail your great sin,
Darum Christus seins Vaters Schoß
For this Christ from his father's bosom
Äußert und kam auf Erden;
Went forth and came to earth
Von einer Jungfrau rein und zart
Of a virgin pure and gentle
Für uns er hie geboren ward,
He was born here for us,
Er wollt der Mittler werden,
He was willing to become the mediator
Den Toten er das Leben gab
To the dead he gave life
Und legt darbei all Krankheit ab,
And in this way put aside all illness
Bis sich die Zeit herdrange,
Until it came to the time
Dass er für uns geopfert würd,
That he would be sacrificed for us,
Trüg unsrer Sünden schwere Bürd
bear the heavy burden of our sins
Wohl an dem Kreuze lange.
For a long time indeed on the cross.

Karl Richter ancora una volta il più grande di tutti in Bach ma non solo Bach nella sua vita di musicista tra i più grandi di ogni tempo.Richter fu grande direttore ed interprete anche con Bruckner,Brahms e Schumann ,Beethoven e Mendelsoohn e con Verdi.Grandissimo.

I am very pleased with this two dvd set of this performance of the St.Matthew Passion, my favorite chorus from this oratorio is Chorus no.35: O Mensch bewein dein sunde grob from part one, i so adore this performance and i have it in time to show it on Easter Sunday in the complete performance ( This will follow rihht after the Easter Filmstrip presentation of the filmstrip title: The Big Easter Egg Hunt filmstrip three from the series Holiday Adventures of the Lollipop Dragon an SVE Sound Filmstrip Presentation) with my pertend audience (My Stuffed-Animal and doll collection), we will enjoy watch this complete oratorio performnce on Easter Sunday evening.
